All the negativity has actually put somewhat of a damper on my excitement. Im not gonna lie.

I realise opinion doesn't matter but I can't log on the Zone or turn on the TV without people just hammering this team and telling me how bad everyone is.

That will just make the glory to come all the sweeter... I'm particularly eager to watch Emmitt eat his words...

I have a feeling you'll see my point come season's end. We definitely have the talent. And that's what this thread is all about. The media and NNs don't think so.

I propose that we revive Spiro Agnew's most famous quote, and refer to all the mediots and "Nattering Nabobs of Negativity", or NN of N for short...

Hostile......I like the original post. However, as much as I dislike him, I feel that Ed Reed is the best defensive player in the NFL. I put Ware as #2.

I didn't like some of our draft picks, wish we would have drafted a couple of different players.

I am thankful Brad AARPson is gone. I am glad TO is gone. I am glad Pac-Rat is gone. I am glad Stank Johnson is gone. I am glad Biscuit is gone. Unfortunately Procter is not gone.

I was kinda disappointed that we couldn't keep Burnett, but you can't keep them all.

Roy Williams is my favorite WR in the NFL, I am so happy he is a Cowboy. I was hoping the Raiders would cut Huff so we could sign one of my favorite safeties.

I can't wait to see our 3 RB sets, as well as our 2 TE sets.

I have a feeling Ogletree is going to be a beast as a KR. I see him making an impact as a red zone threat as well.

You know, if our WR/TE wouldn't have left Romo hanging in the Seahawks and Giants games, we have 2 playoff victories, maybe more. Unfortunately, Romo gets all the blame and criticism.....life as a Cowboys QB. I look for a huge year from him.

I am so glad to have McBriar back.....Sam P. sucked. I am glad to have Folk back. What an excellent draft pick he was. One area that was a weakness for us a few years ago, is now one of our strengths....our kickers. Buehler just gives us one more awesome weapon.

I see our ST coverage being below average to start the season.....but by the end of the season, once they have fully grasped Coach D's system, and we have had some continuity with the unit, I see us being one of the better coverage squads.

If we can stay healthy, we are going to have a great year.

Nope, and there shouldnt be. Good post Hos.

Agree 100%

Our starting lineup if healthy is loaded. Look at the defense, who is the worst player starting on our defense? I'd say its very arguably FS Ken Hamlin, who was in the probowl 2 seasons ago. I'm not a big Hamlin fan, but if he's the WORST of the starters, thats pretty damn good.

Who's the worst starter on offense? I guess if you say our starters have a FB out there, it'd be the FB. If you say its a 2TE set, the worst starter is probably LG Kyle Kosier, and we kinda know that he's a very solid NFL guard.

Our backups that will play the most are pretty good too.

If you've ever seen Hamlin play in person, then I don't think you would say that. He is the best FS we've had in years and he covers the field horizontally and especially laterally as well as any FS I've ever seen in the NFL. I think the guy has amazing talent, and I don't think we'll be complaining about Ken Hamlin this year.

not that it will help but before the season starts i figured its worth a shot

If...

Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;

If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,

And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -

Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,

And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

I posted this poem long ago in the poetry thread. This is my favorite poem ever. You should you tube it and watch Dennis Hopper cite the poem. It's chilling. The best poem ever.

Pretty good post, Hos.

I've made no bones about being skeptical this off-season, but the cupboard certainly isn't bare (by ANY stretch of the imagination). Regardless of the skepticism, I'm so damned excited to see what this football team can do.

Kick some ***, Dallas!

*edit* Oh, and I'll take a glass of that blue Kool-Aid. The season is here. It's time to drink up.

I do seem to enjoy the season more when we are not picked to win it. In those years, each game we win there is just a sense of relief.

When we're picked to not do much, each win is exciting and I enjoy it more.

Given that you're the posterboy for a pessimist I'll rest easy knowing that your idea of more informed isn't worth anything. Pretty much like your draft predictions.

it's called reading between the lines.
Let's shoot this little claim all full of holes shall we?

Here's what the poster you quoted said.

I'm drinking the Koolaid with you, Hostile.
I keep hearing 7-9 (by Emmit today) or 9-7 (by everyone on ESPN radio last night....but I see 10-6 or 11-5 and the playoffs. The home division games will be HUGE.
Here was your snarky reply. Let's concentrate on the very first sentence of your post.

zeroburrito;2930442 said:
so because someone thinks we will win 1 less game than you they are being negative? not everyone is gonna chalk up 10 wins just because that's usually the amount you need to make the playoffs. is it really difficult to see 9-7 by looking at the schedule? 1 less win against one of those december teams? 9-7 with our current schedule would be pretty good imo. i do have a hard time seeing 7-9 though. we should be 5-2, 6-1, or 7-0 to start the season(EXTREMELY easy part of the schedule that means nothing about our team). to get 7-9 would have to be a colossal collapse.
Now let's look at what he said again. Does he say anyone at all is "being negative" or does he simply say "I keep hearing." That's right ZB, he never says anything about anyone being negative. Psst...or positive either. He simply reports the predictions he is hearing. Isn't that remarkable?

Is it really "1 less win as you claim?" Or does he say "or 11-5 and the playoffs?" Wouldn't that be 2 less wins?

11 - 9 = 2. Easy math.

Don't blame me that you didn't completely read what he said nor comprehend it. It was your usual jump off the ledge kind of response. Here's another good exercise for you. Two lines for you to read between.
