the difference is about 2 minutes per game.....compare last year to two years ago....when your defense can't stop anyone....and all they need is 40 seconds to score against us and we turn to pumpkin in the 4th quarter...it doesn't matter....

The defense is not that bad. If they stay fresh and the offense keeps them from being exposed , the Cowboys can make a good playoff run . The offense was very bad last year before Romo got hurt. It still needs a playmaker or two. The defense will improve this year just because they want be on the field so much .

You draft a running back to limit the defense from being exposed snd from being on the field too long. If Dallas controls the TOP snd has long craves that result is scores , the opposing offense has no choice but to try to score quickly to catch up. It is much easier to defend against an offense when you know what they are going to do . Getting the ball run down your throat seems to have a way of breaking another team's will as well.

Finally! Some logic. Thank you!

well dez got hurt and this exposed the weak WR group..... romo actually was doing OK and we were gashing philly until he got hurt...it went down hill from there.

I don't think we have the defense to go to the superbowl....it has too many holes... no pass rush. DB field is weak. LB is questionable and limited outside of lee if he doesn't get hurt....

we may score a bunch...but we will give up a bunch.....

and when we had murray....it came down to the defense and making a crucial stop against GB ..they couldn't ...against a one legged QB who marched his team down the field and scored with ease......

I don't like the draft so far. yes I think Zeke Elliott is a going to be a good player, but what's the difference between Morris/McFaddena and Zeke? vs. Ramsey and Carr. Instead of Ramsey, Jones, Scandrick DB backfield, we have Carr, Scandrick and Jones....

Willing to bet the difference between Elliott TDs in 2016 vs McFadden TDs in 2015 is greater than the difference between Ramsey INTs in 2016 vs Carr INTs in 2015

not just about Ints..... about defense... stopping the pass...getting coverage sacks.... getting off the field on 3rd downs....

bet you the cowboys won't see superbowl...well they will from the couch...

Agreed.

The DE spot is going to be very iffy for the first quarter of the season... The corner situation is still meh... Safety– who knows? But I'm OK with the linebackers and the DT group overall is the best group they've had in a long time IMO. The DE's will get more sacks simply because it will be more difficult for QB's to step up in the pocket.

I agree, it's not all about ints, but they play a large role. It's silly to think Ramsey will be this shut down CB on day 1 (if ever...), and in today's NFL, if you don't turn around and play the ball, QBs will pick on you.

bet you the cowboys won't see superbowl...well they will from the couch...

And Ramsey would have us in the SB? Don't let Risen see you saying this :p

They probably wouldn't have needed to make a crucial stop if Murray doesn't get stripped from behind with 50 yards of daylight in front of him. Zeke takes that one to the house and we have a completely different game.

holy cow!!!! so defense doesn't win champion ships? top defenses stop you rom scoring....will that work for you? they get turn overs...will that work for you? they get the opposing offense off the field and give it back to your offense....does that work for you?

Denver was the top defense in the league...of the top 10 defenses...8 were in the playoffs...4 in the league championship games...
5 of top 10 offenses didn't make the playoffs.

seahawks had the top defense when they won. top defense when they went to the superbowl..

even when cowboys were winning superbowls.....our defense was top 5...except that Irvin, emmitt got the headlines....

stopping the other team from scoring wins championships...its that simple...instead of having to score 30 points a game..you score 20...because your team stops the opposing team..... saints were top offense a couple of years back and worse defense...they sucked.....they stayed home...if they didn't score 35 points...they lost....

yeah you are one of those brainwashed people too. Once again name a defense that scores enough points to win games!!!!!, you did not because you could not. Yes defenses can get turnovers, and what happens next? you said it they give it to their offense who hopefully scores points, and points does what? win the games, win the championships. Oh yeah defenses play a big roll but they do not win championships, that is what of those old some one thought they were being clever sayings, like the grass is not greener on the other side, crap.

How many points did the cowboys offense put up in those superbowls? now what if the other team defense was just as good they stop our offense we stop their offense no one scores game ends in a 0-0 tie, offense puts points on the board and points win championships. get out of here with that defense wins championship ****

From what I read about the injury it's true that it may never be 100% again, but there's a chance that it could heal up by July. Both of those scenarios are the extremes of good or bad luck. Most likely he doesn't play next year and then we got a beast for 2017.

But my point is if you're going to consider the absolute worst case scenario of him never being 100% again then it's only fair to also consider the best case scenario that the nerve could "wake up" by July. It doesn't have to be all negative all the time.

Are you kidding? Zeke is a day one upgrade over DMsc or Morris. Both of those RBs are on the downside of their careers .

If we were to cut McFadden and Morris, i seriously doubt any of them would start for any other team. marinate on that

The running game will be a point of emphasis but if the pass rush doesn't put constant pressure on Romo, he will shred defenses. Dez... get ready! The draft is something that can't be accurately graded this early. No matter how you feel about it now, it's likely that opinion will change down the road. As the players develop they will either disappoint or become the player the scouts thought they could be... it remains to be seen. I suspect we took on too many project players this draft. Jaylon might not even play this season and Prescott may never play. Tapper needs to be coached up because the OU coaching did him no favors. He and Jaylon can be great assets but it will take a little time... time that is quickly ticking from Romo's self life. Thank god we now have EE... Romo's new best friend as far as what's good for his career longevity.

My point was that you have to build the defense. You have to invest in the defense. If you don't then you won't have it. Ramsey, a DT and DEs. You invest high to get talent.

Right now we have a very average defense on paper. No probowlers. No studs. No all pros. A lot of average to below average guys.

Holy cow...you can't be this dense.

It's simple. Try and keep up.

I am not saying for the defense to score.... It's not like our offense wasn't scoring(pre injuries). You use an example if 0-0....how often that happens?

The winner if the game is the one that scored more...yes...and that comes two ways.... Stop the other team from scoring a lot...

Great offenses with crappy defenses Lose a lot of 35-31 games.....

It's being on the right side of scoring differential.

Show me the last team that was scoring champion in the league and won a Superbowl?

Defense stops the other team from scoring. Stop the other team from scoring and you don't need to score a ton of points to win.

See Denver. Their defense stopped Carolina from scoring to its average. The team had average offensive play and they win.

Seahawks did the same..

One more time... A good defense stops the other team from scoring. Just see the saints....aming the best in offense and scoring yet they were bad because couldn't stop anybody...

Not having a good defense means your offense is sitting on the sideline watching...because your defense can't get off the field.

It means your team has to go 80 yards most often to score instead of getting short field.

It's not being brainwashed.....its the fact. I don't say it. Championships teams prove it. Dispute that?

Build the defense, like using our second, third and fourth on defense? Seems that your issue is Zeke vs Ramsey

My concern is Safety - Church and Wilcox. However, Jones is slated to replace the latter, so that's a big step in the right direction. That could have a huge impact on the defense.

DE will be fine after 4 games. Not very concerned there.

37(212) Cowboys (Compensatory Selection) Frazier, Kavon SS 6'0" 217 Central Michigan 5.3
41(216) Cowboys (Compensatory Selection) Jackson, Darius RB 6'0" 221 Eastern Michigan 4.9
42(217) Cowboys (Compensatory Selection) Gathers, Rico TE 6'8" 275 Baylor --

CaN someone explain why the 2nd RB ?? about same size as EE.
I laughed at TE, but he is a big big dude lol should be able to block.
And a SS ! 6 ft not bad .

What happened to the 5th and 7th round picks? one was for CM that we got from seattle?
I think that might be where the 5th went, what a waste that was.
