OK, .. loyal to what?

I will never root for any other team, .. that is as loyal as I will go. I will not cheer for the mess that is the current Dallas Cowboys.

Jones does not realize that the foundation is built on sand, ... ever-shifting sand.

understandable

After 40 years of being a Cowboys fan, I willingly turned a game off before it finished. I have ALWAYS watched a Cowboys game to the bitter end despite the outcome. Not sure why I have always watched a game to the end even in blowouts, maybe it's been morbid curiosity in a lot of cases.

I shut it off after the Cowboys last series of the 3rd quarter and did not think about it afterwards. Woke up this morning and didn't bother looking at the final score or box score. Did the Cowboys make a furious comeback? So far this morning, I have not bothered to check.

Am I depressed? No I think the word is apathetic at this point.

Now at some point today, I will check that box score, and I will read about the game, and I will start to look forward to the Cowboys-Packers game.

Something changed with me and my fan relationship with the Cowboys last night.

Cool story bro

Sad thing for me is that a potential opportunity came up that would make live abroad for about a year. I was originally bummed that I'd miss the Cowboys next season but after last night I found myself thinking that I wasnt going to miss much anyway. I've come to expect mediocrity and failure out of this team.

I have lived overseas five years and was thrilled to come to the states for four months to watch this? Just emotionless.

Well each "fan" to his own. It's not in me to ever quit or give up no matter if it's now or 50 years from now. Is like a marriage when I committed myself to being a fan of Americas Team it was for better or for worst, good or bad till death do us part.

But that's just me

At one time I believed that. Now I think seventeen times trying is good effort and if the effort isn't a reasonable pay off then my contract with loyalty is fully paid.

I was at the game yesterday , there were about 30-35% packer fans . In the 4th quarter I felt bad there was a cowboys fan yelling at us to get up and support your defense get loud etc , I wanted to but I just couldn't do it . I found myself frozen knowing this defense was not going to make a stop . I got the sense every cowboys fan around knew our defense was useless . When GB kept scoring we weren't even suprised we expected it . I give that fan credit but he was also naive . Has he seen the same team we've all seen , did he have more faith than me or was he just naive ?

did he have more faith than me or was he just naive ?,, great question

Not happening, maybe you haven't read my post. I'm not explaining it again but I will never turn off a Cowboys game....EVER. That's me, I committed to my team and will support the Star until death

I did read your post. I'm not speaking for you; I'm speaking only for me when I said it's gotten easier in time.

The Cowboys situation is a little like another that I experienced a few months ago.

My hubby and I went to a music festival in October. The main reason we went was to see Earth, Wind & Fire...and they were awesome; one of the best nights I've had in a long time. But I digress.

Another act on the schedule was Blood, Sweat & Tears...hubby used to like them back in the 60s & 70s, so we decided to see them as well. What a disappointment! The people billing themselves as BS&T sang all of the tunes that made the group famous, but none of them were original members of the group, and it showed! It seemed almost like false advertising for these people to even use the name of the original group!!

That's what the Cowboys seem like to me now. They're wearing the same uniform that Roger, D. Pearson, and Tony D. wore back in the day. They're bearing the same name that the Triplets had in the 90s. But that's where the similarity ends. These people wearing Cowboy uniforms and calling themselves "Dallas Cowboys" are not the team I fell in love with 45 years ago.

I can be committed to the Star that was worn by Roger & Co. and Troy & Co., but the people wearing that Star now are not really worthy. They are the ones who are turning me off, not the other way around.

Again, that's me speaking only for myself....not for you. Keep watching them when they're being blown out by the Saints or Bears or whoever it will be next time. But when these "Cowboys" don't feel up to playing, I don't feel up to watching them. End of story.

I would never give up rooting for the Cowboys - having said that, my fantasy football teams are more interesting.

I understand your point. Not saying your right or wrong.

I cheer for the Star, players that are on the team, coaches that coach the team and the owner/gm does his thing; I cheer for them to make the right decisions, to make the right play, to get better everyday. Never once will I cheer for them to get cut our lose a game. Once they are no longer on the team I stop cheering for them

I've been a fan since the Ice Bowl. My favorite player was Bullet Bob Hayes. I've lived through this team every year since 1967.

But a feeling of apathy and disgust for this organization has been growing for some time. I never used to stop watching a game but I find myself doing it regulary now. Maybe that is being a poor fan, I don't know. But I endured through lean years prior to this one. But when the organization doesn't care enough about the fans to do everything possible to put the best product it can on the field, I decided I will not put myself through the pain and aggravation of watching that product. I turned off both the Saints game and the Bears game at halftime. There was no need to watch any more of those debacles. The outcomes were clear to anyone with a brain.

Jerry doesn't see it but he's slowly losing his old, loyal fan base and he's definitely losing the next generation of fans. The Raiders used to be the preeminent AFC franchise and a certain TV ratings draw. They were the favorites of MNF and NBC's second double header game. Today they are a shell of what they used to be and neither fans nor TV executives care about them anymore. Jerry has this franchise headed down that same path.

I stopped caring. I just don't want to emotional invest in the team anymore. I have more important things in my life going on. I have a confession to make. I've probably missed the last 4 or 5 games. It's just the same .500 football club. I know better than to be sucked in by the hype.
