All we can do is watch the ps games to see the guys , rookies and ones trying to make the team, and the kickers.
1st game will be here in about a month so not long and season starts, then we will start seeing some questions answered, one way or another.

4. This is the biggest issue at WR. Someone definitely needs to step up, and until they do, they are just JAGs in the WR room behind the top 3. One injury to the core guys and we are potentially back to what we were dealing with last year.
Might be the best and deepest WR corp the Cowboys have had in a very long time.

Its seriously too early to form an accurate opinion at this time, live action begins in a couple days and we can actually start to form an accurate opinion, that's all, nothing really serious.
Just chomping at the bit for some live action, it's always entertaining to speculate, but we all need some actual substance to chew on, it's been a long offseason.
I get it which is why I said we won’t know anything until the games are played lol.

Zach Martin is the only thing that popped up as a concern and until he is back. Nothing else has happened that I wasn’t concerned about the day after the draft. Kicker, O line, and interior D line have concerned me from the jump. The rest doesn’t concern me a bit.

Every year there are always massive question marks and "what IFS" for every team. We all go into every season holding our breath, waiting to see if the IFS are going to work out or not. This year is no different. We will either realize that the IFS wrecked the season or that they all came together and we excelled.

For so many seasons the O-Line was our strength. We have no real depth. They said Martin missing is a glaring weak spot. He will be back but 1 injury and we are hurting. I keep thinking or hoping our D-Line is just that good this year.

I don't see #4 as a real question this year.

Gallup is a full season removed from injury a d won't be asked to be a #2, he's a 3 that is more mentally ready than he was last year. Depth behind them is shallow but Turpin has a better chance to contribute at wr. The simplified offense will help the young receivers know what to do as well. Can they execute is the question.

Defense looks good. Quinn has earned my trust. But this offense? Man, there are just too many question marks to feel good heading into this season:

1. Questionable OL depth, and now Zack Martin drama

2. Questionable RB depth behind Pollard who has questions about carrying a full time load and recovering from an injury

3. Gallup has questions about his recovery from last year

4. Questionable WR depth behind Lamb and Cooks

5. No proven TE1 and a gimpy 2nd round TE with plenty of questions

6. New offensive scheme and play-caller who ended with huge question marks his last couple years in that role

7. Nothing but questions at kicker

8. Big questions around Dak bouncing back from last year, and being able to deliver in big moments

Every year there are a few questions— but damn, there are too many for me to feel anything but uneasy as we roll towards Sept
I’m actually more optimistic than I’ve been in years, probably more than a decade.

  1. I will agree the O-line depth may be cause for concern, but the projected starters look strong. I don’t worry about the Zack Martin situation. He’s a true pro who will be ready when he arrives.
  2. If we’re worrying about RB depth, that means we’re good with our starter. That’s a good thing. And I still think they have Zeke on speed dial if the guys they have disappoint.
  3. By all accounts, Gallup is answering those questions. He was said to have had a ‘great practice’ on Saturday.
  4. Gallup gives them 3 starters. How many teams have more than that? And the reports for Turpin, Tolbert, Brooks, and Cropper have been very good. All trending up.
  5. Were you pleasantly surprised by Ferguson and Hendershot last year or disappointed?
  6. Put in place by a Super Bowl winning coach who will be calling the plays. This was McCarthy’s call and he’s not going to undermine himself. I think we’re going to see a less predictable offense with less curls and comebacks that were all too predictable in Moore’s offense.
  7. No argument there. A legitimate concern.
  8. Another legitimate concern. But he’s definitely got better options and supporting cast today than he did last year. And he has proven that he can be more successful when he does.
I think it’s all about perspective. As in life, if you choose to focus on the positive, you can. But if you want to focus on the negative, you can do that too.

But I think if you take inventory, the positive far outweighs the negative.

Aikman likes to say that with today's parity, you're only an injury or two away from a losing record.

A lot of us thought that with QB last year based on what happened in carrot top's years when Romo went out, but to summarize OP's concerns, I think we are in big trouble if the Offensive Line incurs significant injuries, and wait and see on the youth at RB, WR, TE if they could handle it.

The only 100% proven depth at offense is Cooper Rush. Go figure. Defense provides a little more security at most positions if there were some injuries. Quinn and his rotating army.

I'm not really concerned about items 2, 3 & 4. #1, I don't so much question the depth as much as do we have the starting talent\health across the board?

Always plenty that can go wrong, that's for sure.

There are ?'s for every team this time of the season.

When you take the list of concerns individually, most teams face these but aren't we a little conditioned to take the list as a collective?

Injuries are the minefield for every team and no team can have quality depth at every position and this is the same concern for every team, every year.

A "what if" GM would play the worst case scenarios out in his head and try to manage the depth but the Cowboys GM is the eternal optimist and will not let his mind get into the negative so he has McClay and his staff do that for him. They've done about as well as any team has in the depth area. Just so many quality depth guys available.
