Get ready, it's coming the Sunday after All Hallow's Eve as the stupidest day of the year followed by 5 months of depression and they have proof of this and still keep this ridiculous idea alive.

And what idiots came up with daylight savings time? Not saving anything, same number of daylight hours we had before.

And twice a year, I have to think about how many clocks I have. Why should I have to think about that?

Ok, thanks, I feel better now.

Why can't farmers "designate" their own time similar to military where it's a seamless transition.

I agree though, I got a little let down when I saw that it was coming up...like why??? I wake up before the sun regardless, but that grey sky at 4PM in the afternoon is Gotham type dreary @ times.

it's not gonna be Day Light Savings time.
That's when it's Day light lasts more longer.

It's gonna be Day light end this week. Gonna be darker much more sooner.
Maybe some like that.......

What has always bothered me the most about Daylight Savings Time (DST) is that it's implemented backwards.

During the winter months, when DST is not active, the days are shorter which is when you need more daylight the most.

During the summer months when DST is active, the days are longer which is when you need more daylight less.

So depending where you live, you go from daylight ending around 5pm to 6pm during the winter months to daylight ending around 8pm to 9pm during the summer months, which is a 3-4 hour difference.

If they reversed it, the days would have more consistent (not identical, but closer at least) daylight durations.

If it were reversed, then depending on where you live, daylight would end in winter months around 6pm to 7pm and end in summer months around 7pm to 8pm.

At this point, ending DST would at least get them a little closer, but reversing it would be even better for daily consistency throughout the year.

I would ignore every other platform they were running on and vote for the person who would/could put us on DST and forget about switching back to standard time in the fall.

We'll see sunset at 4:10 in the beginning of December and won't see a 5:00 sunset until February.

I'll take my darkness in the morning.

Think it's more of an issue the further north you are. There's relatively often calls for it to be scrapped this side of the Atlantic, usually south of the border.
They ran a trial back when my parents were younger where they didn't change the clocks for a few years but didn't make it permanent as a result of the increased numbers of children being injured and killed on the way to school in the dark in the mornings.

Learn about the calendar, and you will be more confused than you are right now. The moon is for the months, new moon/full moon cycle, the moon is behind the sun and requires sun/moon calendar, month/extra month, agricultural based calendar, enoch calendar, conjuction, lunar, coptic, aztec, sumarian, etc

400 a.d. they stop using the sun/moon for the calendar, and set a fixed calendar in Jerusalem
Gregorian solar calendar 1582
Ethiopian calendar is 7 years behind

What year is it? Is a year 364 days or 365? Moon cycle after the equinox, does the moon cycle start on the new moon or when the first sliver is seen? etc

Yeah, but if they get rid of DST, then I have to buy new electronics that don't automatically adjust for it!

But if they were to reverse it, I'd be trying to unload my first couple of lumber deliveries in the dark every day, which is actually not that hard, but harder than it seems it would be.

I'm sorry. I can't get past the "moon is behind the sun" thing. I'm hoping you mean timewise. :muttley:

I can not stand DST. It’s just about the dumbest thing we do as a species and we do a lot of dumb things. Studies show that switching the clocks is also bad for our health…

I have a theory…but it’s just my own little theory.

You are absolutely correct it should go away. Remember when it started off as changing the time every 6 months? Slowly it's been growing to the point we are now, but it's time to completely stop it. You know who can do something about it. Average citizens can call or write and complain.

There was a time it was useful and actually made sense. You know who the idiots are your asking about. They just need to make it go away.

I will be mean and not increase your laughter by telling you what I really think about the sun and moon

lunar cycle is 29.5 days, x 12 = 354 days in a year, 10 days behind the sun, after 2o 3 years you have an extra month. "once in a blue moon"

I think clocks and work time clocks need to go away. There could be a good case made for the removal of the clock based time and "paycheck" systems. The sun comes up you work, the sun goes down you stop. Everyone would have to homestead and fend for themselves, which will not happen, but I think it is better for the body, and there would be less neurotic people

Can I have some of what you're smoking? It sounds fantastic.

The Earth makes one revolution around the sun at a rate of approximately 365.25 days, which is why every four years we add a leap year, that year being 366 days instead of 365. The moon never goes behind the sun. The moon revolves around the Earth. It is tidally locked with Earth so it's revolution and rotation rates match, causing it to always show us the same facing.

That seems like it would make a movie date difficult.

I have a bad feeling he feels the sun and moon are equidistant to the Earth, and much closer than science says...I really hope I'm wrong.

"It's simple Henrietta, we'll go to the movies when the rooster crows in the morning." "But Jebediah, they might have their own rooster that crows at a different hour." "That's just a risk we'll have to take, Henrietta"

"Okay, it's a date...3 moons from tonight."
