I know this has been beaten into the ground...

Wow ya that's extremely impressive. I think Tyson Jackson runs that at your size and he's considered a top 15 pick so who knows!

Yeah 4.79 is fantastic. I was at 4.85 in high school, and I was one of the fastest guys on the team which was 5A at the time.

Thank you for your advice and encouragement.

It would be a REAL LONG SHOT to make the Cowboys.

BUT...like other's have said, if you can get on Irvin's show, try that route.

But never give up on your dreams.

;)

Why not go back to school? You can get noticed very quickly. Do your Masters at say an SEC school. You've apparently used none of your eligibility yet. Just because you've graduated doesn't mean you can't try out for a team and play.

If you're good enough one year is all you will need to get noticed. And someone will give you a job if you have the size, speed and skills.

Man, if you have the will power, why not wait until a Pro Scout tells you no. A small college route might be your best bet if you can suffer through it.

If Rudy could get one with Notre Dame, and get in for a play, then others should feel thay have a shot no matter how remote.

"More like one in a million."

"So you're telling me there's a chance!!!"

Great D&D reference. :laugh2:

Your best bet is to go the small college route. I mean, apply to a D3 or a D2 school and take a bunch of mickey classes (PE, cinema review, weight-lifting, ect...) and go out for the football team. Most small colleges have "walk-on" day where all the non-scholarship guys can try out for the team.

If you get on the team, then really try to put up stats in your games, that is really the only way you can get noticed by the scouts.

This is probably your best shot to get noticed by some scouts, it will be almost impossible to get a workout with some scouts without going the college route. I am not trying to piss on your parade here, just trying to let you know to not get your hopes up too high.

I mean, 28 yrs old with no football experience to speak of is a very, very, very tall order to overcome to make it to the NFL. And even if you do somehow make it to the NFL, at 28 most fans will want to draft your replacement (See Romo at 28 and fans wanting to use a day 1 pick on his replacement already).

Humble.....If I were you I would explore EVERY avenue I could to get a try out. Having said that, realistically your odds are about as long as they can get. Thing is though ,...shooting for your dreams and aiming HIGH is NEVER a bad thing. Its always a GOOD thing. You cant succeed until you first try. At least in the end you will know that you did everything in your power to go for it. Best of luck!

Are you saying you can make $120K a year playing rugby?

Do you enjoy rugby?

If so, why not pursue that route? I know playing in the NFL is a dream, but making that kind of money to do something you love is a dream most of us would jump on too.

Well, last year I made 140k.

So taking the chance at getting injured and traveling three quaters of the year out of this country is not something I am willing to devout my life to. I have two smalls beautiful girls and a lovely wife.

If I could make 140K playing basketball (my favorite sport to play) I would jump all over it and never look back.

That being said, at your size, I would try to pursue a try out - the worst they can tell you is no! I say go for it! :star:

No offense, hope it works out for ya, but be prepared to get a rude awakening if you tryout.

here is the video for tryouts for michael irvin show; im trying to find the link and where tryouts were and if they will have any more

Don't laugh I'm being serious. Call Vince McMahon. At your size you probably have a better shot at "professional" wrestling with the WWE.
