It snowed on Monday, our first for the year and now the daytime highs are back around the mid-60's -- stunning.

The areas above about 10,000 ft have had snow since about the first of October. We are a little lower elevation -- about 7,000 ft, so fairly typical for our area.so late?
i saw snow in the sierras 3 weeks ago...

Closest ski resort areas are about an hour away. Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapaho Basin are an easy 2 hour driveoh did not realize there is another one...
are there ski resort towns there?

The I70 corridor west of Denver might fit what your looking for.i am thinking of moving to a place at least 7000 ft elevation, ideally 9000 ft.
is there anything like that around you?
i know of keystone at 9000 - but that is the closet to denver i am aware of.
Thanks!

Georgetown (about an hour west of Denver) is about 8,500 feet. While not technically a ski resort area, it is close to Breck and Keystone. It is small, though, only about 1,100 population.
Just north of Georgetown is Winter Park. Again, a little over an hour from Denver, but conveniently located if skiing is a big driver for you.
We purposely chose the area SW of Denver to avoid the property prices associated with the resort area, but have our hills and trees.
Hope this helps
So jealous, I despise you!It snowed on Monday, our first for the year and now the daytime highs are back around the mid-60's -- stunning.
A lot of chest thumping, as you might imagine. Some of the more interesting comments centered around Paxton Lynch, as in "... We wasted a first round pick given the way Trevor has stepped up".lol i just looked at georgetown and your area after my post.
i am not a skiier but like the ambiance.
also can count on a resort holding its value.
looking for a place at high elevation so it stays cool during the summer.
keystone is a bit far from denver but may be my safest best...
thanks!
how was it in your area after the spanking by the broncos?
Where do you live?So jealous, I despise you!
Dallas (which I hate) but I would love to retire in CO or somewhere mountainous where I could hike and snowboard if I'm still healthy and physically able. I love Breck but I'm sure it will/is out of my price range. Not to mention I have another 15-20 years before I can even think of retiring.Where do you live?
