I listened to alot of Dallas Cowboys podcasts today and they are all backing McCarthy

So this is one thing that it seemed like almost every show was universal on no matter if it was an ex player or media guy. I was actually a little surprised that almost everyone did not want Belichick and felt he was the wrong guy. No one seems to think he has the energy to do it anymore and a lot of debate on if he can handle modern players right. Going back to the OP original post I think one reason why so many of them are on the fence about Big Mac is because no one really has any good suggestions for a replacement. There was some out of the box stuff thrown out, like bringing in Pete Carroll as an advisor, but no one really viewed Harbaugh as a solid answer either.
I don’t want belichick either and I agree with those question marks about him. I’m just saying that if you move on from MM the new coach has to have a resume for Jerry to do it. He’s not going to, Imo, move on from MM and bring in a Ben Johnson or someone unproven.

It’s gonna be a name. But mm will be back

Most of the ex-players do a pretty darn good job. I don’t care if it’s a company program, it’s more informative to watch than the national pregame shows, if you want substance on the Cowboys. Stanbach, Church and Nate. At first I wasn’t sold on Everson walls, but I’ve come to like his stuff too, especially since he pairs up with Mickey Spagnola, who I think is one of the better of the career reporters. I think they have too many podcasts though and to narrow it down to the best of the best.
I like him and Nate Newton. Everson is just too nice at times but hes always been that guy. Total class act. He just refuses to cast stones. I admire that, he just won't let himself go there. But as a fan, we can certainly hold the franchise to account. We pay their bills and salary. We have every right to question the results and why things went bad or good. I love Nate because he will rip the band aid off. If ya want to hear the truth, listen to Nate and sometimes he tells u enough info where we can easily read between the lines.

If Dan Quinn did his job he would have made sure the defense could stop the run.....and if he didn't have the players then it goes back to Jerry/Stephen.
This is the heart of the issue concerning the defense. Did Quinn have the players? One cannot blame Quinn unless they believe the defense has the players. Was it bad coaching, or a bad defensive roster?

I'm a bit skeptical that bringing in a different defensive coordinator will make a big difference given the exact same roster. I blame the roster and consequently the GM. It's a lot easier to just fire a coach though, and sell the fans on the idea that the needed change has been made.

One thing I must say about Nate Newton, no matter what anyone thinks about him, that man loves the Cowboys and the fans. He is genuine as it gets. He has a joy in his heart for the fans and team. Thats why he wants to see us succeed.

Read the tea leaves Jerry is going to run it back. Nothing is going to happen and Jerry will try to fool you again. Don't fall for the ruse. This is the lowest I have felt as a fan.

This, if he was going to fire him, it’s been 48 hours and nothing, if you are floored as you stated would not need that long.

Nate’s a good guy. He made a lot of poor decisions when he was younger but he turned it around.

Jerry will fire McCarthy on divisional round weekend to make a splash. He thought he'd have his team playing this weekend so he'll ensure that the Cowboys are a part of the news this weekend.

McCarthy is good if you want regular season wins. I want a superbowl.

Unfortunately, Mike is buddy mode ala Garrett, so he'll be here probably for at least 3 or 4 years unless he completely wets the bed. The games will be much more watchable during the regular season than during the Garrett era, but we know the moment we come across a semi physical team, we will be knocked into the nether realm.

It looks like folks like @acr731 were hitting the nail on the head, kudos to him - so it probably doesn't matter unless they change that one spot, unless something fairly unprecedented happens. So I have no real issue w/ Mike cuz whats he supposed to do.

If I had to guess, I'd say with his interview activity (Seattle et al), DQ has probably "crossed the Rubicon" as the expression goes. So, Jerruh holds a presser this week to announce an impact hire (a new DC), complete with introductions, grip and grin photos all around. and MM is there.
and so, the tone is set, there's your change for 2024. This happened a number of times during the moribund Garrett era, if I recall correctly.

From the cowboys media they have to say nice things they never ask tough questions, if they do they'll get shut out by the cowboys management
