I love Al Davis, he's done a lot for the league and taken a small market team and turned them into one of the most recognizable franchises in American sports.

I respect this guy .....You know This was Jerry's mentor when he first came into the league...You looking at a mirror of our Future...Because You will have to pry good ole Jerrela out of here The same way...kicking and screaming just like AL..

Jerry is nothing like Davis and Jerry is still very sane and capable of remaining as top chair of the Cowboys. When he is done, he has his son Stephen groomed to take over. Davis is slowly selling the shares to his team off but the fans don't know that and what choice does he have? He's not capable and has no successor. But heck, he's kicking and fighting while he sells those shares. The Cowboys are owned 100 % by the Jones family and have a 1.3 billion stadium in the works, a possible budding dynasty and the largest marketing arms and contracts of all NFL teams. No comparison characteristically, economically or historically.

So is Al Davis going to honor his contract with Kiffin like he did with Shanahan back in 89? He's gonna have to now a days but he'll fight and he will lose this time. Boy you should see all the candidates waiting to take that job knowing they might get stiffed. Jerry has never wrote a bad check and has always honored his contracts, i.e Terry Glenn, Marco Rivera, Quincy Carter, heck Roy Williams lol. Al I Bounce Checks Davis is nothing like Jeremiah Jones.

One player. The majority of Raiders love him...You think the older Cowboys love Jerry..Hmmm I got news for you ....You know what its His team...He can do what he likes...I don't like some sneaky punk biting the hand the feeds you Show some loyalty.Nobody wanted you. you went to the Raiders Shut up and Coach...heartless gutless turd..I hope he never coaches again

Not that I'm a Lane Kiffin fan or anything, the guy can crawl right back into his old man's scrotum for all I care. But it sounds like Arkansas wanted him last year and Al didn't like the fact that Lane might have went there, he wanted him to continue to run his ****e football team. So he did and the players do like Lane and now he got stiffed. The bottom line is, Al is the owner yes but without players and coaches he has no product to market and boy has he burned his bridges with the majority of the product in this league. He gave Javon Walker a ridiculous contract and Walker tried to retire anyways. Jerry's got guys asking him to induct them into the hall of fame while Davis has guys begging him to let them retire. Please quit these ridiculous Al Davis to Jerry Jones comparison's, they are so hollow. The truth is, Davis expects everyone to honor their agreements but he expects to get out of his. The guys a genuine ****e stain.

When Jerry first took over ownership he looked to Al for guidance. He was
I don't know who or what there fiscal relationships are and unless your there accountants or lawyers the I would be hard pressed to believe anyone. Yes I know that Jerry's family will take over ownership But make no mistake this will be jerry's team to the end..And to call Al senile and the crypt keeper and name call him is idiotic Its his team and he built the Raiders and won many championships. They are a Great Franchise in the NFL

Goodel needs to come down hard on Al for this act. It's a disgrace to the NFL. Draft picks, fines and 4 game suspension.

And he won't honor the coaches contract? What a senile/jerk

I don't call him those names and I agree that we should afford him the credit of being the owner. I am aware that Jerry did look to Davis when he took over the team some almost 20 years ago but that does not mean they are the same and that their NFL destiny's will be the same. Quite the opposite if you look at the historical facts actually. Nonetheless, the man does not live up to his agreements and this is not the first time, 2nd or even third. The guy doesn't only screw players and coaches, he screws other owners, the league and even his investors. Don't bite the hand that feeds you? Well Davis is a perfect example of that testiment. Furthermore, didn't Al Davis win 1 SB with John Madden who also didn't want to deal with the garbage anymore?

Ok so He gets Hired to run a NFL football team doesn't like it or the Owner , Then wants out of his contract to go to a college team. And the Owner is supposed to like that...

Who ? Marcus Allen ? a couple of Coaches ? The man is a HOF owner players coaches love this guy ...What cause gruden, another guy who was given a chance when he was a kid.. That puke in Denver. Please what are you talking about.
You have no clue, You should do some research on Al Davis. And as Far as Jerry is concerned I know a lot of older players for a Fact who cant stand him and and he's reputation isn't so gold either. And I'm sorry if you didn't know that Jerry leaned heavily on Al when he first came into the league..He basically took him under his wing When the rest of the owners shunned him.Well maybe shunned is a strong word but you get the picture. Al Davis is a respected owner in the NFL and if you don't think that then there's no reason to even go any further

If you think Jerry's going to walk away when hes Al's age your sadly mistaken Yes he has his family there who will obviously guide him or advise him but its Jerrys Team and he gets what he wants.

Did you Play for him or something? I dont know I heard what Phil Valipiano has to say about him that he loves him. Howie long loves him as well.So screwing players and coaches. The ones who I have spoke to about him they seem to love him I'm sure there's sour grapes all over the place. Jerry has the same thing as well ...

another thing Look at this clown in Atlanta..Owner Blank this guy fires Dan Reeves. When whats his face Mr dog fighter gets hurt has a bad season ( after going to the championship the year before ) Gets fired for Petrino then Petrino go's to Arkansas before the season ends. And everyone vilifies petrino..I laugh at the Jerk*** Blank got what he deserved.....

Read my comment just before your last one. Funny you didn't even have this out yest and I had most of your points covered. Lane never took the Arkansas job, he stayed with Al and therefore didn't want to leave. Al last year asked Kiffin for his resignation and Kiffin said no even though he could have had another job. Listen, just cause you're a closet Raiders fan don't get over emotional and over misconstrued what Jerry got out of his relationship with Davis. Davis was having a problem with the other owners in the league at that time because he wanted to move his franchise to an already answered for market. Jerry just took over from a long time owner and fired a legendary coach. Neither didn't have many other options to colaborate with. You're trying to categorize Al Davis and Jerry as the same type of owner with the sametype of past. No shot. Al Davis is a respected and beloved owner in which league? The owners and the league head office can't stand the guy, heck he sues them all twice. What league have you been informing yourself through? If you like him so much go work for him and wait on that check brother. Go for it! I don't care about him or Kiffin really. this is a Cowboys thread, you compared him to Jerry Jones, I stated historical incidents and facts and you're all hot under the collar. I don't think you know much about Al's history to begin with. Don't tell meto research buddy, you have no facts and just opinions. Everything I have said is a fact and you're getting your research through me. Don't kid yourself cause you're not kidding me. Now say thank you for the info and enjoy this and other threads.

Listen if you're now trying to make a different point that other owners have made mistakes and have ruffled feathers fair enough. But firing a coach and honoring that contract and its pay are another thing. Blank never held back the pay. Davis has done this more than once now. Lets see, John Madden who won him his only SB resigned and can't stand him, Shanny, welldoI even have to explain, Gruden who took him to a SB, Norv who can't stand him, Art Shell who used to play for him still can swallow Davis' BS, now Kiffin and I don't even have to go there. Man we're just talking about te coaches he's had. Not even into the players, the other owners, the league, his investors who keep dropping him. There is even more dirt there. The guy is the most hated owner out of the 32. No he's not the only dipstick but he is the most recognized on the ownership level. At yes, for that Al Davis is a legendary coach for at least these last 10 years. Before that go argue with someone else.

I just brought him up because he was on my mind at the moment. That's all good. I don't really know do I care about the last 10 years or so about him what and who he's allegedly robbed or owes The Fact remains he still is a HOF owner. And I think he still deserves some respect. You don't want to give him it.Fine, He ripped you off hurt a player that you liked ..Fine He still has History in this league. I can sit here all day and night and debate players,Owners and what not , I don't care for Kiffin's tactics and I like the fact the Davis went on air and tried to set the record straight.
