I made my mind up about Dak

Hurts is leaps and bounds better then Dak.
I think it has more to do with surrounding talent and coaching/scheme. Force him to stay in the pocket and all the same things will be said about him that are now said about Dak.

Scheme for sure. Hurts did not look like the answer until he got in the right system. Defenses have figured them out so they are not as explosive but they execute.

He is what he is. He's not terrible. He's not bad. But he's not great. He's a limited QB. Part of that is due to injury, where he is not as mobile as he once was, but he also has arm limitations other QBs don't have. He's been in the league a long time so I am not sure I can buy the notion that a small number try to sell - that he's going to get better. He is what he is.

It comes down to simply can they get enough talent and enough quality coaching around him to succeed. Dak isn't taking this team on his back and pushing them to a SB like other QBs can.

The whole Lance thing is interesting to me. I don't think there is a frog's chance in hell that Jerry would have considered Lance in a trade 2 years ago. And it's got quiet on the extension front (unless I have missed some reports). Are the Cowboys now putting Dak on watch the rest of the year?

I think defenses are slowly catching up to what Sirianni wants to do and what Hurts can and can't do. But his athleticism makes up for some of his issues. If he couldn't navigate the pocket and make the broken plays he does, he'd likely be a bottom 15 QB in this league. But even last night, some of his best plays were just him improvising and making passes to guys open created by his ability to move in the pocket.

He's clearly not been as sharp or as good as last year thus far. Now is it because he's regressed or have defenses figured him or maybe with a new OC, there is no real chemistry there yet? Like I said, I think coordinators are more adept at scheming around that Philly wants to do but I also wonder if he's just feeling his way around a new OC.

Two words: Trent Dilfer

I bring this up when people say Dak is not good enough. QB is undoubtedly the most important position on any team but with an elite defense, which we all thought this Cowboys team was after a mere two weeks... I'm just saying it's been done.

To put an alternate, comedic spin on it, there was once mention of a character in a movie who put 1,000 dollars on a 30-1 horse... and WON! What movie, you ask? Stealing Harvard. Especially if you hate Tom Green.

It's Tuesday, and I'm tipsy. Most of you wouldn't be able to reason, let alone swype.

Prescott's air yards statistics are a complete reversal from last season. About half and he's dead last. We're not beating playoff caliber teams with that.

Always liked him, thought he was a good team locker room guy, leader, well spoken .
As far as qb, I just felt our Oc's were horrible and carrot top truly held him back.

I still think he is descent, top 15 ish Qb, but hate to admit this, he won't win you a Sb. He hopefully will be on a SB winner !! Praying he will!! But he will not win the SB !
Not sire what clicked, I just daod that to myself all last hame
Hope this D bounces back. And Dack just drive the bus enough to win.
Dak isn’t a problem Romo wasn’t a problem the main problem sits in the owners box. Hiring yes men coaches and having a say over everything is the problem and the reason is he knows the 3 SB were a result of JJ and it eats him like a cancer and he has to be able to say I am the reason we won a SB. The reasons HC come to Dallas is money and the ability to swallow their pride and say yes Kerry. Put all the window dressing on it you want but there hasn’t been a innovative HC in Dallas since JJ. 13 years of Garrett and a MM hire because he new what to say to Jerry, I love Dak and I want KM as my OC, and anything you say or do is good with me. Sad but it’s just the way it is. A SB it’s possible and so is winning power ball and that’s the type of chance with JJ in charge

I don't know about the Lance or Rush part but I do wonder if the front office is taking a wait and see approach here with Dak and his extension. There was a lot of chatter about an extension in the summer and now it's died down. And I don't think there is any chance Jerry would have traded for Lance 2 years ago.

Now, let be clear, I am not predicting Dak is done after this year. But I do wonder if this season fizzles out again, Dak isn't great, if the Cowboys are quietly talking about moving on at some point.

I agree. Although he isn't half the runner Hurtz is.
No but they need to platy to Dak's strengths especially in the redzone. They have to use him that way in the redzone. Still not giving him another huge contract though.

Well, when trent dilfer lead the ravens, he didn't have to do much. Defense did the work. Dak has done a decent job, but i feel the playcalling is holding him back

We are relying on him to be a pocket passer…like the eagles did Hurtz at first. Neither of those guys are very good when staying in the pocket all the time. We see how Hurtz can be if he runs. Remember Dak running. That was what made him dangerous. We’ve eliminated that.
He is not the same Dak that ran for 6 TDs a season after the knee injury.

All those mentioning that Dak needs to run, I don't disagree but have you seen the guy run lately? He's like a lumbering giant, not explosive, not fast, and not elusive. He has terrible pocket presence, doesn't step up in the pocket and takes too many steps before releasing the ball. He just plain sucks.
Dak runs with flippers on.

Isn't this describing the same TRomo results? QB that is being hoped for, only to be let down, time and time again,.......and no rings. We've been here before, except TRomo is beloved.

I am a Dak AND a Romo fan. Romo was really the only reason all those 8-8 Jason Garrett teams weren't 3-13 instead. Romo is going to go down as perhaps the most underappreciated player in the history of this team.

As for Dak, he still has a little time left to reverse the narrative. But to me this franchise has been snakebit since January 28, 1996 and Dak is just another scapegoat on a very long list.
