Coaches are just better at keeping that stuff off camera these days. Players still get their ***** lit up at times.

That being said, the level of play in the NFL has never been better. The league is less “sloppy” by any meaningful definition of the word than it ever has been. And to any extent/definition it isn’t, it’s largely due to the expanded rule book.

This is just “back in my day” silliness

Parcells was great. The clips of him chewing out Simms are legendary.
And his way with the media, priceless.
He was like an Archie Bunker as a HOF SB winning HC... lol.

I miss coaching. Period.

Seems anymore that Dallas has fallen into the trap of hiring guys who say all the right things but then just "rely" on execution. If having players execute was all there was to coaching, what team wouldn't do it? You have to be able to create favorable matchups and put players in the right position to succeed.

As always, good coaching is always an advantage with a team, especially if discipline is demanded. It's more difficult than ever to be an effective coach these days, though, largely due to the limited practice time that's permitted with the current CBA policies. Good luck in getting a proven, successful coach that's available with Jerry and Stephen being "large and in charge." Maybe a promising college coach would be willing to venture a coaching stint with the Cowboys, nowadays. I think that's our best bet to attract and hire a good one if, at some point, MM gets the axe.

Yeah they jsut be really great at it becaue I saw it live in person attending training back during the Campo and Parcell era. I even saw it during an open practice during the Joe Gibbs-Jason Campbell era.


I been to Oxnard many of times since 2010 and I ain’t seein no ***** get chewed out by any of the assistant coaches or full coaches. That’s some 007 concealing goin on there

I loved to see players coming to the sidelines trying to avoid him and Ditka. Lol. Speaking of Archie Bunker my favorite episode was when Lionel went out with his niece and Edith was trying to hide the photo of the two. When Archie found out and saw it, I was on the floor laughing.

Luckily, the NFL isn't at that stage yet. Players can get fully guaranteed max deals, pout, and then go where they want to on a whim. Sort of glad the Nets didn't cave on Durant's earlier trade requests.

I hear ya but Archie Bunker wouldn’t be a good or acceptable look this era .

This segment of society is always wanting to go back to a darker time in our history without the progress that’s been made. And with that progress like the NFL has encumbered comes some concessions .

Overall I’d argue the league has adapted well to the issues of todays society and the issues which have challenged the sport as well imposing new rules to accommodate these challenges . I applaud the leagues efforts .
