That was the corner I wanted if we had to take one with that pick.

Not only is he better than Jenkins, he's better than Brandon Carr too.

Not sure why you hate Brandon Carr so much. He has nothing to do with this thread.

How is that hating on Brandon Carr? Brandon Flowers IS better than Brandon Carr, its not hating if its true. And clearly the Chiefs agreed or they wouldn't have locked up Flowers rather than Carr.

And if you want the connection, had we drafted Flowers over Jenkins we never would've signed Carr. As we would've had the shutdown corner we were looking for.

I actually loved Flowers and was a big fan of him but I remember people on here saying he was way to slow to be any good.

Ok, Jenkins goes to Oakland and is good, Newman goes to Cinci and he is good. So if Claiborne went to another team would he be good?

Jenkins has been decent at best in Oakland. Newman had a great year in Cincy, but he wasn't doing it alone (their secondary is underrated).

The Chiefs wanted to sign a bargain corner. They didn't think Carr was worth the contract. They paid someone half of his wages to take his place.

If I recall correctly, Chief fans were upset about losing Carr. They liked their tandem of Carr and Flowers.

Standford Routt steps in, gets cut half way through the season. So clearly the Chiefs were wrong. I don't blame the Chiefs wanting to invest that much into their secondary. They have Eric Berry too.

I don't understand this, "had we drafted Flowers over Jenkins we never would've signed Carr."

We cut Newman, so we needed a corner to replace him. The choice was made between Courtland Finnegan and Carr. Claiborne was brought in to replace Jenkins. So are you saying IF we had Flowers, we would have never drafted Claiborne?

Dallas had no way of knowing, that the Rams would trade down again and give them the chance of signing Claiborne until draft day.

Actually i'm saying if we had Brandon Flowers we wouldn't have signed Carr. You can't afford to pay 2 CB's that kind of money, in our case we knew Jenkins wasn't going to get anything from us and we cut Newman. So we had room to pay big money for a corner. Claiborne although expensive in terms of draft picks is really quite affordable in comparison to the contracts that Flowers and Carr have received in recent years.

One thing I wanted to add about Jenkins. I specifically remember reading during that 2009 season, that Jenkins was sitting down with Romo during the week and picking his brain about what some quarterbacks like to do, what to look for in certain situations, etc. (I also remember the praise so many here heaped over him for doing so) I think that kind of dedication contributed to a big year for him. Along with the "technique" stuff, maybe Claiborne needs to be spending more time in the film room studying, understanding tendencies of the opposing team.

He made two extremely idiotic business decisions.

1. (GB) James Jones run.
2. (NYG) Derrick Ward run - no longer available on yt. The worst of the two and I wouldn't be surprised if Jenkins, he had a hand in having it taken down. The video was affectionately and appropriately titled "the reason why girls can't play football".

Find my other post in this thread. The James Jones business decision is still up on YT.

lol

Ok, so he made two business decisions one year.. again, doesn't define his career. He was our best tackling DB the year after, even with seperating his shoulder multiple times.

Many here jumped on the I hate Mike Jenkins a year ago. Now he is gone and we are stuck with a wonderlic ****** that simply stinks..... Claiborne has been benched and Jenkins is in Oakland where he is laughing.

We should have kept Jenkins. His second year resulted in a Pro Bowl performance. He was very much a shut down CB. His third year, he struggled. I really think we should have kept him, and right now I think most of you do too. Cue the guy that knows the liquor store clerk, maybe you know more than I do....

We moved up in the draft for a need we didn't have, and ignored needs we actually did.

Jenkins may have had a bad attitude.... ALLEGED..... We don't know. All I know is Claiborne sucks and Jenkins didn't.

Flamesuit is on... But come out of the closet fellas... Who here wanted Claiborne over Jenkins... YOU WERE WRONG.

why do you want me to come out of the closet? do i make you randy????

and "i told you so" threads suck.

lol Mike Jenkins, is Claiborne really so bad that we actually have people remembering that piece of trash through rose colored glasses? Have you watched a Raiders game this year?

Yes if after 20 games Claiborne isn't Sanders he should be flogged and run outta town. LOL

No one was expecting him to be Deion at this point the problem is Claiborn is not showing improvement after 20 games. It's hard to imagine 21 being the magic number when we start seeing this once a generation potential. The bar has already been lowered we've gone from hoping for a shutdown CB worthy of the cost to get him to just hoping he'll turn out decent and be as good as the guy he replaced

He's had the same problem that Dez had- He's missed his first 2 t.camps AND he's switched defensive schemes in between. With all that missed time I don't expect that much from him and it might get worse before it get's better as teams pick for new weaknesses. The real issue is there are an army of people that sit on there hands and wait for any sign of failure so they can point and "I told you so" cause they don't like the owner. There wasn't person in the world that didn't think he was the best CB coming out of college but after 20 games theres all these fans that have figured out he is no good. It's kinda funny.

He might be a bust but he's also playing with a popped out shoulder too and his first year he was coming off wrist surgery, he may be so fragile no one ever finds out if he could play in the NFL or not.

If true, that would be bust-like , ish, right? As long as he doesn't re-aggravate his shoulder, this reduction in attention and playing time might be a good opportunity for him to learn the system a little better.
