Darren Woodson in his prime was better than Roy Williams has been the past two years. But I'm guessing that when Roy gets to be in his prime, he'll be better than Woodson ever was. And that could even start this season.
I think so too.

For my money, yes. Barry is not even in my top 5 and barely in my top 10.

Even Michael admits no one is better than Jerry.

Again, for my money, yes. No disrespect to Young, but put them on the same team and he's the backup.

I'd also prefer Emmitt over Barry, but most people would say that Barry was better. Surely you know that is true.

Even fewer people would say that Aikman was the best quarterback of his day. If not Young, then what about Marino, or Elway, or Favre? It's hard to say Troy was the best of that group.

Early in his career Woodson had the benifit of being on some really talented teams and didn't have to be relied on like Roy does. You could argue that Woodson wasn't even a top 5 player on his defense in the mid 90's in his first few years. Maybe even lower. But he was able to develop because of that. Roy is basically having the grow as the best player on the team and not near the talent around him.

In the mid to late 90's ahd guys like HOFers Charles Haley, and Dieon Sanders with him. Also Kevin Smith was a pretty solid DB in his prime. Leon Lett was a great player for a time. Now the talent just isn't there like it is when Woodson came in. And Woodson was able to develop better because of that

***? back at ya

Emmitt was better than Barry?
Michael was better than Jerry?
Troy was better than Steve Young?

.

if you read the post, I said very arguably...and their ratings from pro personnel people during that time confirmed it...

and yeah, from 91 to 95 I'd take our three over anyone else...they were simply too good

I really don't care what other people say about Barry over Emmitt. I think Barry is the #1 reason why the Lions couldn't win. I would not want him on my team.

I didn't say Troy was the best of his generation. I said he would start over Young. I think Elway and Favre are the 2 guys who may be the best ever. I believe Elway is the perfect mold for a QB if you are going to clone them. Favre may be the guttiest competitor ever. Marino was a ball machine.

Troy's greatness is often overlooked and that is ludicrous. His kind of accuracy and poise is rare. Put him in Young WCO and his numbers would have been off the charts. Simply put there is a reason he has 3 rings to Young's ace.

again, I was talking about the period of 1991-1995, and Aikman was the best QB in my opinion. He had solid numbers, made the pro bowl every yr, was tremendous in the postseason and won 3 super bowls...he was the guy listed by GM's/Personnel people as the guy they'd start a franchise with if they could pick one player

Sanders had more highlight film plays, but Emmitt was the better overall player in terms of running, redzone running, receiving and blocking. Irvin's numbers were tremendous from 91-95 and despite the fact everyone knew he was going to get the ball, nobody could stop him. He was unguardable.

Everyone may have their own opinions on it, like I said it was arguable. But my opinion (that was shared by alot of people) is those three guys were the dominant players at their position from 91-95, and its why we won 3 championships...
