First thing that jumped out at me was they can play the run and are a physical football team, so Dallas better be ready to get dirty in the trenches.

Second, Orton looks to throw underneath constantly. Their ground game allows him the time to play this way. Another thing is he is in shotgun a lot, even in run downs and this is another reason he is not sacked much. They use a lot of shotgun draws and fake the run and playaction from the gun a lot.

Brooking and James will need to be ready this week for a tough matchup. Discipline will be at a premium with their run and short pass game.

Their 3-4 looks big and they mix their blitzes well. Dawkins looks like his old self and they show him and other cb's blitz and peel off or bring it. The Raiders had numerous opportunities for plays on deep posts and Russell could not make the throw or the WR did not use good techniques. Russell looked like crap and some of it was the Bronco D, but I think most was Russell.

After watching the Broncos I think our passing game will have to be effective if we are going to win. Broncos have the ability to stop a physical run team, but Romo will have to make them pay when they cheat up. It is gonna be close, Dallas 24-20.

Good post.

So McDaniels has brought the shotgun-heavy offense from the Pats, it sounds like.

And we all know about their schedule so far, but I did see where they are only allowing 5-something points on defense. If that doesn't get our O motivated, nothing will.

Orton was always a smart bus driver, and I'm sure they won't turn the ball over. So we have to have a smart, clean game from Tony and prepare ourselves for a tough, close game.

Is it true that their defenders are small but quick? If yes, I think our O-line can handle them if they play the way they've been playing. Our run blocking has been phenomenal from the linemen to the fullback to the wide receivers. We might not get 200 yards, but I bet we'll do well running the ball, which should open up the passing game.

Denver will be a tougher game then most thought it would be when the schedules were released. This won't be some walk in the park, give me W, that many thought. Dallas will have to earn it, for sure.

We need to be aggressive on the underneath routes, force Orton to beat us over the top. He is happy to play a Brad Johnson type check down game.

Welp, that means Ken "Pump Fake" Hamlin is going to have troubles. :laugh2:

The only way they win is to hold us under 21 pts. We ought to be able to score 24 pts., I would think.

They went to a 34 and their NT is a former backup that Nolan had at the Niners. Not sure how good he is. And in any case, I suspect Gurode can handle him. Their DL would appear to be their weakness, just looking at the players. Guys like Andra Davis and DJ Williams are good LBs. Dumervil is a sack specialist, but who knows how well he can cover as a LB.

I have no doubt they're pretty good, but I'm going out on a limb and predicting that we'll score more than 5.3 points. ;)

Theebs also commented that they run a lot of drags and crossing routes like the Pats (which fits with tunahelper's comment about underneath passes).

The ILBs need a heckuva game this week.

The Panthers held our offense to 13 points.

I would say thats a pretty good comparison to make with Orton and Johnson. The good thing is I feel confident that the Dallas Cowboys are not overlooking this game. Just win. Thats really what our team motto should be. Just win. Who cares how just win.

Even running a dink and dunk offense Orton is only completing 55% of his passes this season.

We held ourselves to 13 points.

Whatever, 13 points is 13 points. My point is, if you lose by your own play, or you lose by a defense forcing you to lose. It's still a loss.

canters said if we score at least 21 points we win. Well, we still have to score the points. Their defense is looking pretty good right now. Even if it is not against power offenses.

I watched the browns and raiders game.

I think we should run on them. If barber is healthy there is no doubt we will.

Orton doesnt have a pick, but he has been careless in the redzone and has narrowly escaped two picks. I also noticed their backs put the ball on the ground against oakland.

One thing that stands out about the two games I watched is The inability of Quinn and russell to move the ball has led to a huge field position problem allowing the broncos to basically take zero chances with the ball. Everything is a run from a spread or quick crossing routes.

and another thing is they have not had to defend a complete offense. They have not played a tight end who can do anything yet. Cleveland and oaklands offensive line created running room but for different reasons they didnt take advantage of it.

Their kickers are all outstanding. It was very windy when they played cleveland and you could see it affecting the passing game.

Tony scheffler is a good player and will create problems as will gaffney and stokley.l

Carpenter will help shut down the underneath stuff in obvious passing situations.

I would say our LBs have been playing pretty well aside from Bob so I like the challenge. It's Ken who better wrap up and bring some attitude.

His play was ugly last week. His coverage and tackling was suspect on several occasions.
