another thing...

watching us play the other games can help some but don't get too carried away in analyzing it...

McDaniels devises plans each week that are predicated to attacking the opposing defense's weakness...

so when we played oakland, we ran drag routes to attack the short middle of the fields where their suspect LB core is in coverage...stayed away from the Raider's strong secondary...

so whatever Dallas' weakness is, thats where you'll prolly get attacked...

whats the cowboy's weakness area on defense?...

Defensive line. Please don't run the ball.

First thing that jumped out at me was they can play the run and are a physical football team, so Dallas better be ready to get dirty in the trenches.

Second, Orton looks to throw underneath constantly. Their ground game allows him the time to play this way. Another thing is he is in shotgun a lot, even in run downs and this is another reason he is not sacked much. They use a lot of shotgun draws and fake the run and playaction from the gun a lot.

Brooking and James will need to be ready this week for a tough matchup. Discipline will be at a premium with their run and short pass game.

Their 3-4 looks big and they mix their blitzes well. Dawkins looks like his old self and they show him and other cb's blitz and peel off or bring it. The Raiders had numerous opportunities for plays on deep posts and Russell could not make the throw or the WR did not use good techniques. Russell looked like crap and some of it was the Bronco D, but I think most was Russell.

After watching the Broncos I think our passing game will have to be effective if we are going to win. Broncos have the ability to stop a physical run team, but Romo will have to make them pay when they cheat up. It is gonna be close, Dallas 24-20.

thanks good post, keep up the super work!

That would be pass rush. No need to keep in extra blockers on third and long... just single block the two OLB's and don't worry about Ratliff at all. He's just a tiny NT who your center can handle one-on-one. You can take both G's out to help on the DE's Igor and Spears.

Just focus most of your pass blocking on Igor Olshansky... he's the big pass rush threat. You better chip him!

Dont say anything to boy genius Josh, but we hate it when teams run the punt team constantly... :D

Ahh, Denver should remember Igor well I hope....

That's right, you guys saw him twice a year.

I was just kidding on Igor anyway. Brooking is the real pass rush threat!:

Make sure to tell Josh that when we are in our two TE package, it is going to be a run.

i'm not sure where you get that from...the Broncos fumbled 1 time that game, which by the way is the only offensive turnover of the season so far for Denver...

some other things to touch on...the Bengals have a pretty complete offense...you have to account for their WRs and their run game...with Dallas the run game is a bigger threat but the receivers don't scare teams...

someone also made mention that Denver has faced bad o-lines...thats not really true...the Browns have one of the best lineman in the game and overall their o-line is solid...and Oakland before playing us showed a decent o-line and cincy's ain't all bad either...of course, Dallas has a much better o-line then those teams so i admit that...

Buckhalter and moreno fumbled against the raiders. Moreno fumbled in the redzone and you recovered it, buckhalter lost a fumble.

again, you only have 1 turnover by sheer luck. Orton threw a ball right to micheal huff in the endzone and he dropped it, he threw a ball right to brandon mcdonald and he couldnt get his second footdown in the endzone. If you continue to make those mistakes in the redzone they start going the other way, especially when the quality of your opponent goes up.

As far as the raiders and browns offenisve lines and running game, from what I saw, the browns punched some good holes but simply did not have the ability because of their backs to make big plays out of it. Oakland also punched some good holes but did not block on the second level well at all and of course mcfadden fumbled a foolish amount of times that game.

And imo, you havent played a complete offense yet. Cincy is the best one you played but they do not scare anyone at tight end.

If your nickel corner is out and you have to stay in base defenses I will go ahead and wager our wr make some plays, particularly our tight ends.

Brian dawkins is a fabulous player, but Jason Witten has beaten him regularly for 5 years now. Witten and bennett are going to cause problems. Just like carolina tried monday night, you cant just put 8 in the box and bracket witten, he will routinely catch 5 yard passes and it will be 2nd and 2.

I imagine Denver will play dallas the exact way as the giants and panthers did. 8 up to stop the run and a two deep look on passing downs daring romo to make mistakes. I cant imagine denver doesnt have a ton of confidence in their secondary right now.

I think both offenses should move the ball well and score some points.

If Denver comes in with a dink and donk style offense, that plays perfectly into our "bend but don't break" style of defense. They'll move the ball fairly well I'm sure. But Prater better get his leg loose, because he'll be doing alot of kicking...

Ya I noticed they throw alot of checkdowns and underneath routes also.

They are going to TRY to pound it but hopefully the run defense stops that aspect and puts it into the hands of Mr.Orton.

Bend but don't break? This defense did not look like a bend but don't bleak last week. Defense has gotten off to a slow start but I don't think Dallas is looking to give up attacking with blitzes anytime soon.

not so...Moreno crossed the endzone, the play was ruled dead...if he had fumbled he wouldn't have been credited the touchdown...

the game of football involves a lot of luck...there are many "almost" turnovers that occur, but over the larger sample size you start seeing trends...the fact that Denver has one turnover in 3 games is not a coincidence...but keep thinking it is...

well if they weren't blocking well at some point you have to acknowledge the defnese for not "allowing" themselves to be blocked...there are 2 teams out there playing, not just 1...

And imo, you havent played a complete offense yet. Cincy is the best one you played but they do not scare anyone at tight end.

so because they don't have a great TE they don't have a complete offense?...they have better WRs...

If your nickel corner is out and you have to stay in base defenses I will go ahead and wager our wr make some plays, particularly our tight ends.

i'm hoping the rook can play Sunday, but if not Jack Williams is a more than capable corner...our secondary is deep...but it'll be tough to guard Witten, he's a man...

no way Dawkins can cover witten, i agree...don't be surprised if we double witten...we will let our corners single up Williams and Austin/Crayton/whomever...

I imagine Denver will play dallas the exact way as the giants and panthers did. 8 up to stop the run and a two deep look on passing downs daring romo to make mistakes. I cant imagine denver doesnt have a ton of confidence in their secondary right now.

you may be right...we haven't committed an 8th in the box to stop the run thus far so we may wait on yall to MAKE us commit 1st...but your run game is dominant so we may need to do so...

I think both offenses should move the ball well and score some points.

you may be right...may the best team win...

I disagree. I think McDaniels will scheme the Cowboys similarly to how the 07 Pats did, they flooded the middle of the field w/lots of zones and kept Witten bottled up. This forces the Cowboys to either run w/success on the edges or test the Bronc's very good corners vertically.

This will be no walk in the park for either offense.

Denver is the worst 3-0 team in the league. They could easily, easily, lose 7 of their next 8.
Dallas, NE, SD (twice), Balt, Pitts, Gints. The only bright spot on their schedule is the skins.

I have watched them play some this year, and I have seen Orton enough to know why Chicago jumped at the chance to unload him (although that was a no-brainer deal-no brains on Denver's part, that is). Orton is capable of melt-downs and idiotic throws that make Romo's mistakes look very ordinary.

Think Denver fans were angry when Cutler was traded?

Wait until about mid November when they are nearly through the above schedule, and all hope is last, and see how angry they are then.
Their coach that thinks he is such a bad*** is going to wish he was back being protected by Bellicheat when he gets the full wrath of Denver's fanbase. Its not going to be pretty.

moreno fumbled on the 2nd and goal play on the opening drive and recovered it, the raiders were called for offsides.

I wasnt talking about the td.

oh sorry about that.

Its hard to get a feel for roy, for me anyway. Unless he is wide open like the slant monday night, it doesnt seem like their is much seperation, I dont know if that means he is open or not.

Laufenberg has not really been impressed with the wr, he hasnt flat out said that but I can tell the way he talks about them.
