Philly is actually a fairly nice city. You could spend weeks eating at all the nice places off of Rittenhouse Square. You want to talk crime...New Orleans, Chicago, there's some serious **** going down.

yeah I know, shoot me....lol But my wife is a huge Eagles fan, she's from South Jersey and she got passes. The whole lower bowl of Lincoln Financial was full of fans. Anyways, Wentz doesn't look like he's starting the season. Their red zone session for the offense was horrible, Foles didn't practice and Wentz was off on a lot throws. Dallas Goddert looked pretty good for them though. I know it was practice, but I wasn't impressed. Those fools were chanting Dallas sucks out of the blue. It felt good to know we are always on their minds.

Then this is the best part of the whole Practice. A young guy, about 18-20 shows up in a Zeke Jersey halfway through their practice. They put him on the Jumbertron and those people lost their minds, Myself and my two sons(also cowboys fans) just looked at each other and said that guy is a savage because he gave it back to the whole crowd.

That guy is my kind of guy. Was going to ask if you had on a Cowboy jersey.

they're the only team to have ever had a court room in their own stadium to speed up the process.

I saw this on youtube. Kudos to the kid. Hopefully he made it out alive.

Because their fans are unbearable asswipes and drunks, not because the city itself is crime ridden.

The Philly unsafe thing is hilarious. I’ve spent a good amount of time in Old Town and never once felt unsafe, even late at night. On the other hand, I’ve had gun pulled on me in Dallas.

As has already been stated, almost every city has good and bad parts.

Yikes!

The reality is the anti-Philly stuff from other posters is largely because they just have a bias against Philly in general. I mean anyone who says Philly "embraces" crime has zero credibility.

Philly sucks. Spent a week in downtown for a convention and learned there are parts close by that you do not want to walk in, day or night. Mafia is still big there. Lots of things to be careful of.
The Mafia? You don't have anything to worry about from the Mafia, unless you are in the Mafia. If I lived in the city I'd be more worried about the crooked politicians.

As long as you don’t have a small business in the neighborhood you’re fine.

Much of what you say is false. For example, overall crime is down in Philadelphia, not up or getting worse. For 2017, overall crime rates continued to trend down (including rapes, assaults, theft, etc) with the only crime up, being murders (which went from 277 to 310).

Also, some athletes actually live in Center City Philadelphia. A few athletes owned/rented condos in Liberty Two, a large office/residential condo building. A few Flyers lived in a condo building a few blocks away. Joel Embiid lives downtown Philly. Yes, some athletes live in the suburbs - either in PA or NJ - but the idea that Philly is this massively dangerous town that no athletes live in is erroneous.

Since I've started talking about this 2 more people were shot around Temple's center campus. When my sister was mugged she just came out of Jefferson Hospital, and was walking to the parking garage just down the road. It's a fairly heavily populated area.

Homicides are on the rise, and have been since 2012. Philly is having another banner year. The mayor doesn't help when he celebrates his newfound sanctuary city status of letting criminal illegal aliens go without turning them over to ICE, and they go on to commit more crimes against its citizens.

So with all due respect I do know what I'm talking about. Living about 25 minutes away from the city for the last 40 years kind of gives you a birds eye view perspective. If you live in the area apparently you don't watch the local news, much.

Your experiences may differ from mine, but discount what I'm saying at your own peril.

I read somewhere someone said a gun was pulled on them in Dallas, which happens. The differences in Dallas you can pull one back legally, in Philadelphia you can't under most circumstances.

The fact you act like Temple’s area is somewhat the typical area for Philly again calls into question your credibility.

Temple is a bad area for sure but nothing like downtown, Old City, etc.

I’ll discount what you are saying. Lived in the area for 40 years. Worked in the city for 15, attended high school in the city, lived in the city for a few years as well and spent a lot of time in Old City, Rittenhouse and blossoming areas like Brewery Town, Northern Liberties.

It has its bad spots and really good spots. Like most cities it has its crime issues. But to act like it’s a dangerous town and you can’t walk anywhere without having a major crime committed against you is BS

Oh my goodness, you do not know Eagles fans. They've pretty much trashed every quarterback they've ever had. McNabb, the most.
Because Mcnabb is a complete tool. A passive aggressive little *****

Wentz is the most loved athlete I’ve ever seen.

Friend got jumped and robbed leaving a bar in Rittenhouse the other day. All the bikes on my street had things stolen off them in the fairmount area. To act like this is some pristine, misunderstood place is disingenuous.
There are some nice areas but even those have crappiness.

Who said it’s pristine?

It’s your typical large city. This notion that it’s some craphole dominated by crime like some have alleged, is BS.

It is most definitely a misunderstood city if one thinks it’s an awful city with nothing but bad areas no culture, history, etc.

I was just pointing out how even the nicer parts are subject to crime. I had my car broken into in Uptown in Dallas so I know crime exist.

One thing I've noticed here is the attitude. There is a very blur collar feel to the city which I believe makes way for a certain mindset and anger probably did to the low brow nature of the union and blue collar workers. I do not know why they hate the city of Dallas so much. It's weird to me but I've never had people talk crap to me or call me names before in public before I moved here. Its definitely a low brow city that is proud of that.
