I wish Henson would get a chance to play

Revisionist history. He was full time starter in 2000, from game three, when he came back from fractured Foot injury. So he techinically he started 9 games as sole QB for Michigan, including the Bowl game.

He only split time with Brady during Brady's Junior and Senior year, and Brady's Senior year, they only split evenly first 3-4 games or at least Henson had significant series, and then last 2-3 games, Brady pretty much started and played whole game.

Someone will dig it up just to spite you. There was a scouting report on the internet that claimed he would have been the #1 pick in the draft over Vick, but that and $50 will get you Madden 07 for the ps2.

Yep, agree. And like I said, BP is good at planning around the QB strengths, especially, if Cowboyd do have as good of Defense as we think they might have, barring injuries. He probably limit Romo like he did with Quincy somewhat.

But I think where that plan might fall apart is in playoffs, especially if they further in playoffs. Then, you know, Brad Johnson isn't exactly strong armed. Although Brad doesn't seem to be a guy, who makes stupid plays, that Tony seems to be prone to do, occasionally. But it does seem like he has gotten much better at avoiding them this year so far, than previous years in Pre-season.

RCowboyfan this is the one thing that I think Cowboys fans lose sight of sometimes. We aren't just looking for a QB are we? Aren't we looking for a QB who can win a Super Bowl? I know we are spoiled. Staubach, Aikman. But to me, THAT is what we are looking for.

Not a guy who could even BUSDRIVE us to ONE, but a guy who has us in the hunt for a number of years.

Brad Johnson or Trent Dilfer might busdrive you to one, but if they start, their teams won't be in it year in and year out.

Give us a great QB again, that is what we should be wanting. The guys who are great at just about anything in life are the guys who don't really remind you of anyone, they are great in their own right. This is one thing that bothers me about Romo. I don't want a Favre knockoff. Favre is over hyped in my opinion anyway. I just wonder if a guy who tries to look like Favre and be like Favre is the guy to take us forward.

It can be done with a QB who has a good to average arm, it's just a much better feeling when you are playing in the blustery days of December and January to know you have a QB who has an arm that can muscle those throws into the wind.

Even Parcells talks about that aspect.

Yes he was, but thats all way before draft. You know how it changes even days before draft. Joel Buscham rated him even higher than Vick at that point. So he might have ended being picked mid or late first round if he actually went into draft. But he was sure fire first rounder, no ifs and buts about it, if he stayed in school, and didn't drop off drastically in his play.

Heck, even when he was traded to Cowboys in 2004, there were some draft predictions going in 1st round, or the latest early 2nd round.

Exactly my worry too. I am not opposed to Tony Romo at all. I just don't see him as long term answer at QB for Cowboys. But if you say, I rather have Quincy Carter or Tony Romo right now, if Tony Romo ends being an average NFL starting QB? Then I will take it.

I don't know, I was starting to warm up to Tony Romo, and I saw those two plays, and I am back to square one about him. Probable a great backup Qb to maybe at best average NFL starting QB. But as long as Cowboys keep searching, then I guess, Tony Romo isn't a bad option at all.

what we are only now seeing has prolly been obvious to parcells for quite some time.

romo must be substantially ahead of henson. he must be more capable than him.

tony seems to read the defense, find the open man, and deliver the ball to him quickly. he doesn't show the hesitancy common to a QB of such limited game experience.

in a nutshell - he appears to be pretty calm under pressure.

i attach more weight to a preseason NFL game than a NFLE reg-season game.

it must be discouraging for henson's die-hard fans. and it needn't automatically spell the end for young henson as a cowboy.

but it should be fairly obvious to all. romo is firmly entrenched as our #2 guy based on current level of skill. not some bizarro-world political intrigue occurring within the teams' hierarchy.

BP wants a busdriver, not a Roger or Troy. Maybe he feels you lose too much if they go down injured, score too quickly to keep TOP ? ...Heck, who knows what BP thinks.

We, as Dallas fans have had a Dandy Don, Roger and Troy..So that is what we want...BP is not giving it to us.

Romo is a smart, quick release guy who doesn't have a cannon of an arm, I think BP actually likes that. Not a strong arm means more of a ball control game...Running and short pass's.

So different coach's have different needs at QB. BP wants to win the time of possesion battle. Grind it out and keep your QB from making mistakes. Doesn't fit for a big, mobile strong armed QB.

Now I also feel Juke is right about Henson being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ever hear Troy talk about life with David Shula ? How nothing clicked for him until Norv came on board ?

One of the local writers even stated that Henson's best hope is for BP to retire....or be traded, cut, etc. When BP describes Henson's performance in NFLE, he said...paraphase...There was something missing, can't say what tho.

Whoa...lol. Can't ? Won't ? Was there something missing ? I saw NFLE and Henson was very good IMHO....Right after that statement he goes on to say Tony will see a lot of action this TC.

They have there 1st scrimage and Henson was the best QB. At that point BP just shuts the kid down, no playing the reindeer games, no 7-7 drill or 11-11...No pre-season action.

Now BP is using his Jedi mind tricks on JJ...Who is always confused anyhow, but he says weird things that leaves me shaking my head saying...What did he just say ? Henson could be a starter...somewhere else ??? (not an exact quote, but I couldn't understand what he was saying anyhow).

BP has JJ saying that BP and TO are on the same page...In Terry Glenn's 1st year with BP...TG is referred to as "She" when he didin't practice...JJ is saying BP is totally fine with TO not practicing...Does anyone here belive that at all ?

First of all, Henson isn't going anywhere because of the 8 year contract he signed in 2004. Parcells knew from the beginning, that he's got plenty of time to develop Henson. However, Romo's contract is up after this season and as a result, he's getting a lot of playing time to determine his value. I think this whole thing is more about their current contract situations and not about Romo's meteoric rise this year. What kind of contract extension Bledsoe or Romo gets, if any, will really tell us the story about what Jerry envisions for the future at QB.

I'm as anxious as anyone to find out that's for sure.

It's been clear from the start...Parcells has not wanted to invest the time in a project like Henson.

Given the situation, that this is Parcells' last run at a ring, I suppose I understand that.

But it doesn't change the fact that IMO, he's done a lousy job with Henson.

Yet during basically the same time he has invested time in a player named Romo.

Odd.

Bill is not the boogy men some of you guys want to make him out to be.

Has it ever occurred to some of you guys that Henson just may not be good enough to make it no matter who the coach is?

Seriously why does it have to be Bill that has ruined this kid or not given him the chance or whatever excuse is laid out at Bills feet.

Some guys respond. Some don't.

Clearly Henson doesn't. But because he doesn't respond, it doesn't mean he isn't mentally tough.

It's just my opinion that a coach is best when he can change his style to get the most out of a player.

I saw an interview with Angelo Dundee talking about the difference in the way he handled Ali and Ray Leonard...extreme opposites...and Dundee altered his style to get the most out of them.

Parcells will never to that.

Parcells on many occasions, talking with the press, has said he has worked differently with different people.

Talked about different ways to get someone to learn things, different ways to motivate them.

So I think that is just wrong.

I think the bottom line is, only my opinion, is that henson is just not that good...just like he was not that good in baseball, and now people are wanting to blame the coach because Henson is not cutting it.

Did they also blame Hensons baseball coach?
