I would venture to argue that Alfred Morris is a better runner than DeMarco

A better Runner than Demarco Murray. And definitely a better RB for the price.

Now Demarco is more versatile. Better receiver and possibly blocker. But for pure running the football, give me Morris. And he has shown to be a durable back. Emmitt Smith type durable. The guy can handle the load and runs between the tackles with great vision and cutting/sliding ability. Give Morris 400 carries in this offense and he will have 1800 yards no doubt in my opinion. The problem will be that it may take Garrett and Jones half the season or an injury to McChicken to figure this out.

I would love to see them take a young RB in the draft, but Morris is a great bang for the buck. Nice between the tackles RB for this line.

No. Not at all. I'd rather have Morris at his price than I would Demarco is so I agree with that part but they aren't anywhere near the same caliber of running back at their best.

Morris is Cheaper, Morris is less injury Prone and Morris might be a better short yardage back...but I think that is probably the only things that he is better at than D.Murray.

The important part of that is the injury situation.

I like Morris but sounds like Jerry wrote your post. I would still draft a RB 3-5 round.

I don't think you're far off, Alfred is a very solid back. Dont get me wrong Marco is good but that wonderful season made people overvalue/overhype him.

IF Jerry wrote my post he would be saying that McFadden would be getting most of the carries. I would cut McFadden yesterday if I was coaching. Although for the money, he is not a horrible #3 RB.

I am on the Alfred train for sure. I think he could be "that" guy for us. Give him the rock, keep the defenses honest, keep our D off the field, pick up those dirty yards..................."when they count!"

When he needs a break or change-up DMAC can fill that role nicely.

Still draft a RB in the middle rounds. But I like this signing by the FO and I think Alfred can have a big year for us.......

I've always admired Alfred's 1 cut he makes which is perfect for zone blocking. That's the thing about Shanahan, he was always able to find great zone blocking running backs and in the latter rounds. So he knows what to look for. He's also not a fun guy to try and tackle.

Murray is much more athletic and his 1 cut is probably just as good as Morris' was/is. The great thing about Murray is that he always fell forward. Makes those 0 yard carries into 1 or 2 yard carries. He was also excellent in short yardage (although Morris was good as well). I think Murray was excellent at 'getting skinny' thru small holes and even jumping into the crease. I don't think he was an easy tackle, but easier than Alfred. But he was faster than Alfred.

Anyway, if the offense can stay healthy, I like what DMC/Morris/Dunbar can do.

DMC still has great speed. He can turn a decent running lane and make big yardage. He's also a good receiver out of the backfield. Get him 15-18 carries in a game and get Morris, the guy who is well suited for zone running and is a tough tackle 10-12 carries a game and get Dunbar in mismatches against linebackers and slow safeties....gives us a lot of good possibilities.

I like how 4 solid games from McFadden, and now everyone thinks he's a solid starter. Dude will pull his hammy in training camp and Morris and a rookie will start the season.

Did my title not please you?

Not at all. I was just playing around given the reaction to your thread.
I like Morris, and I like Demarco as players just fine. Demarco's a 3-down back, and the player's compensation reflects their relative values overall, but I like Morris just fine for what he's going to be for us. And as a person, he's reportedly top-notch, which is always nice to hear.

DeMarco is the more talented player. Period.

But I do believe in a balanced offensive attack, Morris can have a stellar season rushing. If used enough he can definitely average 90+ yds/game at a respectable 4.4+ yds/carry. Morris's running style is a great fit for this running scheme.

So yeah...Morris is a great bargain for the production he can provide.
