I would venture to argue that Alfred Morris is a better runner than DeMarco

Not at all. I was just playing around given the reaction to your thread.
I like Morris, and I like Demarco as players just fine. Demarco's a 3-down back, and the player's compensation reflects their relative values overall, but I like Morris just fine for what he's going to be for us. And as a person, he's reportedly top-notch, which is always nice to hear.

I was referring to the title. A moderator obviously changed the way it was originally written for whatever reason.

DeMarco is the more talented player. Period.

But I do believe in a balanced offensive attack, Morris can have a stellar season rushing. If used enough he can definitely average 90+ yds/game at a respectable 4.4+ yds/carry. Morris's running style is a great fit for this running scheme.

So yeah...Morris is a great bargain for the production he can provide.

I dont believe Murray is a better runner.

Murray is the better all-around back , hands down.

Still, his main accomplishment to me was his single season durability in 2014.

With that O-line but without Romo and Dez, McFadden's per carry production was extremely similar.

I'd never say it's fully apples and apples because who is to say McFadden could ever hold up with that many touches. Doubtful, really.

But just the raw numbers do say a little something.

DMC (not full time until 6th game)
279 carries
1089 yards
4.6 ypc
40 catches
328 yard
8.2 ypcatch

5.08 yard per touch

Murray
392 carries
1845 yards
4.7 ypc
57 catches
416 yards
7.3 ypcatch

5.04 yards per touch

The point is that with a healthy line, Romo and Dez, a healthy, respectable back is going to get 15-1600+ yards rushing

Ah. That wasn't me, but I probably would have if I'd gotten to it before somebody else had to.

A better Runner than Demarco Murray. And definitely a better RB for the price.

Now Demarco is more versatile. Better receiver and possibly blocker. But for pure running the football, give me Morris. And he has shown to be a durable back. Emmitt Smith type durable. The guy can handle the load and runs between the tackles with great vision and cutting/sliding ability. Give Morris 400 carries in this offense and he will have 1800 yards no doubt in my opinion. The problem will be that it may take Garrett and Jones half the season or an injury to McChicken to figure this out.

I would love to see them take a young RB in the draft, but Morris is a great bang for the buck. Nice between the tackles RB for this line.

Nope. Morris cannot catch the football. At All. Thanks for playing though

Not better in the passing game running the football or running the ball in the open field after getting it under center.

Murray just ran into and over people. His vision was poor. He had little wiggle in the open field. That is the "leaving meat on the bone" part about his running style.

Like I said, Im not a big Murray guy. If he could stay healthy, then I would have been more on his side. I just cant trust a RB or pay him big money that gets hurt 4 out of 5 years.

Really, I thought my title was "just fine". :lmao2:

I'm sure you did. No way for me to know if it was or not. I just know from experience we don't change them unless there's something incomplete or misleading about them. Or they include all-caps or excessive punctuation or whatever.

In any event, I didn't get to this one.

Alf - Durable, very hard to tackle, gets tough yards, decent blocker, good vision and awareness, doesn't fumble, not a good pass catcher.
Murray - Not Durable, hard to tackle, gets some tough yards, good pass catcher, good blocker, fumbles more that he should.

I'd say +/- 's are pretty equal. Both backs fit the Cowboys style running scheme. Either is a good fit. Alf is the better bargain all things being equal at least on paper. We'll see how it goes.

I just hope Alf torches the NFC East like he torched us when we played him...he destroyed us regularly.

Source outside of the passing game numbers? Morris 3 out of his 4 years has been near the top in 20+ runs. Talking out of your ***?
