Ideal scenario is Green Bay, Detroit, SF, Baltimore

You're going to extremes now. Obviously if every game is against backups it's an issue. But if we play rams or bucs round 2 why should I feel less about that than Detroit/Philly? That would mean they literally just beat those teams anyway lol.
My point stands. For me, I want to see the team face the best competition-play their best ball (along with the opponent) and still win. Many here are openly saying they want the easiest path. Which is laughably vague. It could get much easier with critical injuries. I think some fans just want to see the Cowboys win a Super Bowl-even if they beat a bunch of backups to do it.

The Lombardi trophy is exactly the same no matter who you beat to win it. There's nothing vague about it, with the possible exception of in your mind. Have fun with that.

Haha that's ridiculous. If SF gets eliminated before the Cowboys have to play them, I guarantee every Cowboys player will be thrilled about it.
I doubt that. They will play whoever is in front of them-no doubt (nothing to stop that). Any high level basketball player (that was not a coward) that played in the 90’s wanted to play MJ and the Bulls to try to best them. What’s more fun and satisfying than playing the best in your field?

You do not like the idea of the Cowboys beating the best competition that is also playing great? Isn’t that the most enthralling?

Troy Aikman and the Cowboys going to SF and beating the favored Steve Young/Jerry Rice and company in a well played game by both teams. Had to be the most satisfying win I can vividly remember.
No offense to anyone on the current roster, but this isn't Troy Aikman and the Cowboys. I'll take my chances at home. 30 years, just want the best odds.

I guarantee every guy who lost to Jordan in the finals would've much rather beaten someone else and lift the trophy.

I presented a specific example to the contrary, but okay.

Players want to win a Super Bowl. None of them will ever sit around thinking "Gee, I wish the one seed hadn't got upset before we could play them." The ring is the same.
Did Nate Newton get quotes from all the other players or was he speaking for himself? Who did he say was so happy? All the players he was talking to at the time?

Those teams were two time champions before that. They did not fear SF. They very well could have beaten SF that year in the playoffs.

I have heard lots of quotes from many of the best defensive players who loved facing Tom Brady even when losing because that’s why they played-to go up against the best.

I doubt you've heard "lots" of such quotes. Also, that's after the fact, not people saying they'd rather have to beat them to win a championship vs. a lesser team. Also also. those are cliches that people say, they don't tell us anything about how they really feel.

Good lord, give it up already. Newton, who played on the team, didn't share your fan boy perspective. He said the team celebrated.

I'm sorry I don't have multiple-sourced quotes from 30 years ago since it seems that's what you need in order to die on this hill.

I guarantee that's a 100% fan boy perspective. Charles Barkley would've rather beaten anyone to win a title than lose the finals to the Bulls. He never got a ring.

Beating the best is fun and satisfying. Losing to them in the playoffs is neither.
I said I wanted them to win against the best. This whole time. I do not want them to face SF and lose.

My argument is that fans wishing to face the easiest path sounds ridiculous. It’s the playoffs and competitive sports. Face off against the best and give the full effort-beat the best.

You really think Hakeem, Cassell, Horry, Drexler and all the Houston rockets fans feel less about their NBA championships in 94-95 because Jordan was out of basketball those years?

I never said he would rather lose than win. You are creating a separate argument.
