33 receptions (barely over 2 per game)

821 yards (it is a 24.9 ypc avg.)

8 TDs (the important stat)

Without question.

That YPC on that many receptions, that would be huge for our offense.

Ridiculous stats. Never happen

I agree, I don't think those #s are realistic..

My projcected stats, which I have posted in the post, are in the range of

40 receptions
600 yards
5 Tds

give or take a bit here and there....

I would hope he gets more than 33 receptions the whole year.

Alvin Harper, 1994.

I think that Austin can put up similar production. When you average out the stats over the entire season, you're looking at 2 catches, 53 yards and .5 TDs per game. I think that is well within Austin's level of play.

That is also assuming Roy Williams will grab 79 receptions, 1,241 yards, 6 TDs and a 16 yard average like Irvin did in 94.

No, it doesn't.

Obviously, the point I am trying to make is that as long as the Offense moves we will not miss a beat. We do not need huge production from the #2 WR spot as much as we just need someone who uses speed to make the Defense pay whenever he can.

I think Austin is a very good choice for that.

At a time when our Offense was virtually unstoppable, the #2 WR was not a Terry Glenn type producer.

How? that is terrible logic.

Not really because you can count on Witten out performing Novacek's 1994 season of 47 catches for 475 yards and 2 TDs.

Yep the stats that led to Harper bolting for Tampa and relative obscurity. Amazing how many former Cowboys left Big D as "star" players just to become regular at best. Larry Brown, Russell Maryland, Tony Casillas, Harper. Others went on to do very well though. A few that I can recall (Stepnoski, Gogan, Norton) did well on other teams. For the ones like Harper, great role players when surrounded by other great players, but not able to do it when they were the main ones counted on. Still amazing to think what could have been had we been able to keep all of these guys together over 7-10 years. Oh Well, we have to settle for the 3-5 we had. Oh, memories.
