Since his rookie year he's built up some "scar tissue" or something. At times he seems like a guy with the yips or just rattled.
He used to be pretty gun shy about passing it unless they were pretty open,
I think Dez, the coaches and fans wanted him to let it rip and let dez fight for it,

I think that continued to a degree but with lesser talent some times. He does not have that old play it safe gun shy attitude he used to have and I think the coaches have a lot to do with that,

There is a Brock Purdy in every draft, right?
That’s why you bring in multiple quarterbacks and have an actual competition for the position.

Steve Walsh was picked #2 overall in the supplemental draft the next very next after they took Aikman #1 overal in the draft. They used to value the quarterback position in those days.

never stand pat because of the unknown and stick with the crap you already know is here.

I agree that Dak cannot be a game manager. Although he has taken care of the ball better in the past, this you he was an inconsistent playmaker with a relatively high ceiling but an absolutely atrocious floor. When he is on, Dak can carry you pretty far, but when he is off, the rest of the team cannot save you no matter how well they perform. This SF game unfortunately was a perfect example of this as I felt virtually the whole team either excelled or played adequately to their expectations. Even the WR core whom I routinely criticize for being weak as a whole played ok. Gallup and TY Hilton both got wide open on deep plays and Dak missed the pass or didn’t see them.

I have always liked Dak, and I still believe if the circumstances are right he can win a SB, but he let the team down in the divisional game. Hopefully next year he focuses on taking better care of the ball, even if it means a few less plays made during the game. The defense is elite enough to compensate for lack of yards, but it can’t save you from turnovers.

How did Aikman do his first 2 years and last 4 career years when he didn't have weapons around him and a good Oline in front of him? Why didn't Aikman with his talent carry the team or make players around him better during those years?

Some suggest "Make Dak a Game Manager".

Think back on the turnovers in that game.
-10 yard out w/7-man protection. Pick #1
-8 yard pass over middle. Pick #2
-6 yard stick throw...into LB's belly. shoulda been Int #3 and pick-six

These were all ordinary QB circumstances where Dak was doing ordinary QB things. Not super pressured on any of them. All short passes...Dak wasn't being aggressive in these plays pushing the ball down the field. Just made bad reads/decisions.

Some games Dak is clutch. Sees the field. Is quite good. Other times he gets deer-in-the-headlights, to the point where he can't even manage low-risk plays.
Somebody needs to teach Dak how to throw a timing pass, where the ball is gone before the receiver makes his final cut. Also the back-shoulder pass to a covered receiver.
These are basic plays for an average NFL QB, but apparently not for Dak.

Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl with an elite defense and an offense that managed the game situationally with a heavy dose of running. If the Cowboys are married to Dak, they have to take the same approach. Continue to build an elite defense and run the Cooper Rush offense. Limit mistakes. Control the clock. Play situational football.

But we all know they’ll do the complete opposite so it doesn’t matter.

I havent seen anyone more inaccurate on short and intermediate throws , especially throwing on the flat to RBs etc.

I thought it was his mechanics, but have heard here he has worked his mechanics and improved , but still dont see.

Think back to the Bucs game. Some games Dak plays the #1 defense and best team in the NFL on the road.
And some games - when Dak looks good - Dak plays very weak defenses and Offensive opponents laying turds on the field... don't know think back to... The Bucs game (23rd pass rush Defense and 15th in pressure, run defense 6 games with 150+yds allowed)

Did people forget that all the OL and Zeke in 2016 were help for Romo? They drafted all those 1sts round OLinemen and Zeke 4th overall for Romo in his 10th year as the starter. It wasn't for rookie Dak. Did you all complain about Romo needing all that help back then? Even Romo needed help to get over the hump. Unfortunately, his body didn't hold up to see it through. There are only handful of QBs who can get it done without help. Even ARod looked bad without Adams this year.

I just can't remember the epic fails of Aikman and Staubach in the playoffs. But I do remember Romo and Dak epic fails.

We don't really know what Brock Purdy is. He's not asked to do a lot for 49ers.

As for finding a "diamond in the rough" ....some drafts have thin pickings.

Consider 2019
1. Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals)
6. Daniel Jones (New York Giants)
15. Dwayne Haskins (Washington Commanders)
42. Drew Lock (Denver Broncos)
100. Will Grier (Carolina Panthers)
104. Ryan Finley (Cincinnati Bengals)
133. Jarrett Stidham (New England Patriots)
166. Easton Stick (Los Angeles Chargers)
167. Clayton Thorson (Philadelphia Eagles)
178. Gardner Minshew (Jacksonville Jaguars)
197. Trace McSorley (Baltimore Ravens)
I hear good things about this kid

Pick 2 hurts because he had enough green in front of him to at least get 3-5 yards up the middle. When he is not confident in his reads I'd rather him just take off

Yup.

Try to get him another good WR and give it one final year. I really don't like that option but it's our only hope. Dak is untradeable and we aren't in position to get a QB (low draft position + weak QB class)
No problem !
Offer the Browns a 5th rounder for Cooper!
I am sure they will bite!
