If Dallas had kept Amari Cooper?

The offense would be much better with Cooper.

He would be the best WR on the team and it would make guys like Lamb, Gallup, and Brown look MUCH better like it did in the past.

Anyone that says otherwise are only saying it because they cannot bring themselves to say our front office screwed up.

Problem with keeping cooper was you had to commit to three years at 20 million each unless you moved him. I think the FO was worried they’d have to sacrifice a defensive piece to do that.
Coulda....shoulda....woulda. Let's just say Dallas never let Cooper go. Regardless in how he's doing in Cleveland now. Don't you guys think that Cooper being here opens it up for other receivers? They were the number 1 offense last season. What's different? No Cooper and yes Dak has been out. They let Cooper go with no real backup plan to replace him. Without a doubt, Dallas needs to go a WR in the draft. That's the difference in making this offense great. It's not an inept Dak. He had 37 tds to 10 ints. That's not bad at all.

They would be incredible had they kept Cooper.
Do you want Cooper or do you want Micah and Diggs?

How bout Dallas go get Jeudy from Denver?
Wouldn't hate it. You get him this year, next, and his 5th year option. Given that much control I cant believe he comes cheap though. Question becomes who do you end up not bringing back? Gotta think you have record setting deals upcoming in Diggs/Parsons. Also need to resign Lamb, Armstrong, Steele, etc soon, plus do you reup Dak in two years? Lots of checks about to go out at the same time.

No.
We are fine and would be no different with or without him.
His production had dropped off the past 1 1/2 years he was here.

His stats from 2020-2021 (mind you Dak only played 5 games in 2020): 31 games 160 catches 1,979 yards 12.37 ypc 13 td's

In that same time period Gallup: 25 games 94 catches 1,288 yards 13.7 ypc 7 td's

In that same time period Lamb: 32 games 153 catches 2,037 yards 13.3 ypc 11 td's

In that same time period Schultz: 33 games 141 catches 1,423 yards 10.09 ypc 12 td's

So while especially in 2021 Dallas was spreading the ball around more to guys like Lamb and Schultz, Cooper's absence this season (not his contract as much) is certainly having an impact on the Dallas passing game seeing as how your top 2 receiving options in terms of yards receiving has been Lamb (479 yards) and Brown (339 yards; although nearly half of those came in weeks 1 & 2).

Our offense/passing game would be much better had we kept him. We all saw how he improved our offense when we traded for him in 2018. He’s one of the main reasons our offense has dipped so much from last season. The Cowboys are currently 28th in offense and continue to drop. We had the number one offense in the league last season and have completely plummeted and it’s mostly because of our lack of a passing game. No team has ever won a championship with an offense ranked this low. We’re not productive and we’re not scoring many points. It’s very difficult to pull away from an opponent when you’re kicking mostly FGs. We’re winning games because of our defense.

It doesn't have to be Cooper but they should have had a better backup plan to replace him. I have no doubt this offense is way less by loosing Cooper.

Yes, he’d be the best WR on the team and CD would be a stud 1B.

You need 3 quality WRs in todays NFL. Right now we have 1.

The fact that no one even attempted to deny this rumor and everyone was attempting to just let it die in silence shows that there is some truth to the statement.

There was a tweet on March 7th about Amari Cooper saying that to Dak after the SF playoff loss in what was described as a heated 'spat'.....on March 16th Amari Cooper was traded to Cleveland.....so you be the judge as to whether this is coincidence or not.

They misevaluated Lamb. Too stupid to realize Lamb isn't the route runner to take over #1 w/o a significant dropoff.

These "what if" post are pointless. Kind of like saying if we would of let Dak walk and drafted a first round QB to replace him how many points would we have scored in last years superbowl win.....

Now if Cooper really did call Dak the Black Kirk Cousins then I can see why they decided to move on. Has that ever been confirmed or is it just a rumor?

if it’s true I don’t blame Cousins for being insulted……Amari burned his bridges with the Vikings

If the Cowboys kept Cooper the board would be complaining about his lack of production. His 20 million dollars is reason we kept Shultz, Kearse, Hooker, Armstrong and brought in Fowler.

What if Dallas trade for
Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy ?

Then they would be giving up premium draft picks for an under performing WR who has 1-1/2 years on his rookie contract remaining before his expensive 5th year option kicks in just around the time Dallas has to pay Lamb, Parsons, and Diggs.

Depends did we draft Justin Fields or Trey Lance? lol

The plan was to go to 12 personal as their base offense… it was clear last year that’s the direction they were going… the Gallup injury made his resigning possible, making Cooper expendable!

Gallop was an all star last week. Talk about someone not showing up. I think Amari would have had a few catches, hard to say.. He has a super crappy QB in Cleveland. We will know more about him once Watson comes back to play.

FWIW, Amari's and Ceedee's stats are about the same right now.

I have no problem with dropping him but the process that we went through when we dropped him was horrible. We barely got a return in compensation and we also should have gotten someone to replace him instead of relying on CD and an injured Gallup to step up to the plate. Not to mention Cedrick Wilson leaving. If we had traded or drafted a WR, I don’t think there would be as much noise about Amari’s trade.

We did draft a receiver.
