If Dallas wins the Super Bowl, should Tony Romo retire?

The man would have the perfect swan song to a tumultuous career. He could go out on top and save his health for his family and life after football. On top of that, he's already the most prolific passer in franchise history. He would finally have that monkey off of his back and could go out on top. The last memory of Romo would be him hoisting the Lombardi trophy.

So if Dallas wins it all this year, should Romo call it a career? Or should Romo come back for one more year like Elway and defend the title?

I have to say, if it were me...after all the hatred and injuries that he's accumulated throughout his career, to go out on top would be an amazing ending to a great career.

Thoughts?

Why would he retire when he finally gets a team capable of competing? I wouldn't think he'd think twice about the lasting memories of the fans. Most of whom bagged on him despite him playing great, for years. I think he cares a lot more about playing great and competing for as long as he can.

And, you know, no matter how well he's played this season, if he throws a pick or the season ends on an unsuccessful offensive drive, you know fans are going to be talking about it all summer. They'll turn on the QB play quickly if we don't keep winning.

Yeah, depends on how bad his back surgeries/injuries really are. He has a shot at Hall of Fame even without a ring, but would need a few more seasons of continued success, including a few playoff wins.....in my opinion anyway. I think he enjoys the game still and he strikes me as the type that wants to reward the organizations faith in him by giving it his all - even with the longer term health repercussions....

While I like the guy, I wouldn't mind seeing that scenario. He goes out on top, with the biggest middle finger ever to his detractors, and nothing that happens on the field after that game could take away from his last time on the field. It would be epic.

I don't see Romo walking away from the game if he gets the SB victory this season. He wants more. I think he would perceive this one for Witten and then it's time to get his own.

He has the best season of his career, arguably and you want him to retire? Uh.... no? Besides, if he wins the SB we get the last pick in the draft. Exactly how would we get a good replacement for him? You think lightening could strike twice with an UDA? I don't.... sorry this thread is a lil cray cray

No apologies necessary because I did mean this year. Like I said, if he wins the Super Bowl this year, he can retire with his health and his last football memory being him hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. I never said I want him to retire, but I don't think it would be all that bad of a choice for him.

For me, it isn't about finding his successor or anything like that. It's about him personally being able to go out on top. If Romo didn't have his back problems, then I would agree that this thread would be a little out there. But with all of his health woes, to get out this year, with a ring and being able to move onto his family and life after football with his health...

I don't think it's a bad choice for him.
