If he maintains his level of play, would you sign Claiborne to Kareem Jacksons contract

Like Claiborne, Jackson had his struggles before turning it around and his early struggles ultimately drove his value down

If he plays like that the entire season, every single game. Sure. Will that happen? No.

And why wouldn't it happen? Most here wouldn't have thought he would have played like this for 3 straight games. You do understand he's gone up against OBJ and Julio Jones and has done the best job of any corner this year of shutting them down? Julio Jones went off when they put him on Carr and Patmon.

So, again, why won't it happen? And even IF he has an off game and you decide he's not worthy of a contract, who do you replace him with? Show me a FA who will play at a higher level than that who will demand that same kinda contract.

Either Mo needs to be locked up or we keep Carr with his current contract.

Say what? Did you watch the game? He was getting beat up all day underneath because of how scared he was to give up the deep ball. He was shredded in the 1st quarter to the point where Patmon even went over to him wondering what the hell he's doing out there playing the wrong coverages. He wasn't shadowing anybody either so stop with this myth that he shut anybody down, let alone Julio Jones and ODB. Those guys could smoke him any day all day if they went up against him 1 on 1.

CBs are expensive in this league, so if you can get him at that price, then sure.

Wrong. He was not "shredded" underneath. You either didn't watch the game, you're not remembering correctly, or you're outright lying.

The first drive for Atlanta Falcons: Jones not targeted

The second drive for Atlanta Falcons: Jones targeted 5 times, 4 against Claiborne, Claiborne gave up 16 yards (One a 5 yard pass, the other 11), the other two were incomplete.

Third Drive: Targeted once, incomplete against Claiborne.

Fourth drive: Jones not targeted

Fifth drive: Jones not targeted

Sixth Drive: Jones not targeted

End of the first half

So, Claiborne was "shredded" by giving up 16 yards in the first quarter? You're straight up giving out misinformation. Stop.

You couldn't be any more wrong than you are in this post. You ask if he watched the game, but did you?

No, he's demarco murray but at cb.

Good point. It is easy to see that he is playing for a big contract from Dallas or another team. Money has finally made him healthy, confident and it has him putting out some effort. Mo is a classic example of the type of player that a team should not sign to a big contract.

He probably is playing for a contract, so what?

But even then, you don't know this for sure and it's just an assumption. So we go with the assumption over the fact that reports state Claiborne spent nearly every single minute in the film room with Jerome Henderson working on reading offenses and learning what it takes to be a CB in the NFL? Maybe, just maybe, dedication and studying is the major factor in Claiborne's improvement?

Mo scares me because his body started to break down when he got into the league.

Another 4 years of him being healthy or not?

I want him cheap. Like 3 mill a year cheap.

So what? When players have a contract year that they not just preform well but put up numbers that are far and away better than they have ever put up it is a red flag. If money is your only motivator what happens when you get it?

No, and I don't believe this would even be a question if you didn't pay the kings ransom for him. Sometimes its just best to move on from your mistakes. Every exgirlfriend has told me that. Must be something to it.

When has Mo ever been known to be lazy any other year he's been here? Confidence may have been an issue, transitioning to the NFL may have been an issue, but he was never considered lazy.

And again, I ask, who replaces Mo? Going to spend another first round pick on a CB? Going to overpay a FA CB again like we did with Carr?

First off, hes not demarco murray at CB. If he is demarco Murray at CB that means he will break records at his position, and unlike demarco, nobody is there to make that happen, therefore it will be all on him. Second of all, this team, if they should so choose to sign him, will do so with a contract like every other player of his ilk by offering a team friendly deal loaded with incentives and play time bonuses etc. Contract year production may get media and fans thinking "pay the man" but stephen isnt having it.

You are really being optimistic with him, which I do not understand. He was suppose to be the best CB in that draft. DO NOT give him money.

His draft status is irrelevant now; his contract isn't going to be based on his potential at the draft, it's going to be how he has played since being in the NFL. You offer him a reasonable deal if he plays at a high level the rest of the season. If he wants a ridiculous contract, move on.

And I'm not optimistic about losing two corners this offseason and trying to force a nickel corner into the #1 spot. We'd also be forcing Jones into the #2 role when he is having trouble beating out Patmon. I don't even want to ponder Patmon taking on elite WRs weekly.
