If he maintains his level of play, would you sign Claiborne to Kareem Jacksons contract

No.. Mo is a guy that needs to be motivated. It would be in our best interest as well as his to have a heavy incentive laden type contract with bonuses based on specific performance and actual playing time...

You give him another guaranteed contract and he will slack off again..

Now all of a sudden his career is on the line and he's studying, playing thru some pain, and actually trying to live up to his pedigree..

No more enabling type contracts...

If Claiborne continues to play well, he is gone people! The Boys could have hedged their bets and picked up his option - he will be with a new team in 2016 - book it!

Say what? Did you watch the game? He was getting beat up all day underneath because of how scared he was to give up the deep ball. He was shredded in the 1st quarter to the point where Patmon even went over to him wondering what the hell he's doing out there playing the wrong coverages. He wasn't shadowing anybody either so stop with this myth that he shut anybody down, let alone Julio Jones and ODB. Those guys could smoke him any day all day if they went up against him 1 on 1.

The truth lies somewhere in between your rant and people claiming he's plays really good.

He's been OK. Which is certainly better than what we've gotten out of him in past seasons.

Watch the game again when you're sober.

So in the face of actual factual evidence that refutes your claim he was dominated in the first quarter, this is your response?

I'll repeat this again: I said Claiborne's real test is this 3 game stretch of going up against Ryan, Brees, and Brady. People can talk about Brees' decline, but he can still make CBs look stupid. All three of those teams have quality receivers as well. As of now, he's played at a high level against one of those QBs and one of those receivers. We'll see how he does against the Saints.

So no, I'm not jumping the gun and saying sign him now. He still has a lot to prove.

Facts? Evidence? Do you even know what those words mean? You claiming something you saw or think you saw doesn't make it a fact, I hate to break it to you.

Honestly not even giving a new contract any real thought. Mo has done good so far and hope he continues any renewing of contracts is still something he must go out and earn.

Ummm........ if anyone is claiming something seen and then trying to make it fact is you.

You clearly said he got dominated by Jones in the first quarter. Jones had 16 yards receiving in the first quarter against Claiborne. That's a fact.

Your "facts" are nothing but opinions.

Uh, that's exactly what you did. I watched the game, I saw the plays Mo gave up (They weren't many), I then confirmed it by the play by play analysis. There are also video breakdowns of his play out there, I believe Broaddus has one. So, I'm not the only one seeing this.

I'm not sure what it would have cost to pickup that option, but it was under his rookie contract? In retrospect...so far...It would have been a good idea. Of course when they had to declare, it probably wasn't looking too good for this young man.

That awkward moment when people realize you didn't watch the game...

He probably is playing for a contract, so what?

But even then, you don't know this for sure and it's just an assumption. So we go with the assumption over the fact that reports state Claiborne spent nearly every single minute in the film room with Jerome Henderson working on reading offenses and learning what it takes to be a CB in the NFL? Maybe, just maybe, dedication and studying is the major factor in Claiborne's improvement?

So what? You don't think it is odd that the only year that he has come close to playing at a decent level, just so happens to be the year that will determine how much money he will be offered with his next contract. It is s very high possibility that once he gets paid, his level of play will return to what it has been since he was drafted. There is a reason that Dallas didn't pick up the 5th year option on Mo. It would have been too expensive for a subpar player. Mo is much like Murray. Murray sure played well and even played hurt to impress the league so that he could get paid. He signed his big contract and his play has been bad and the injuries have returned. I am willing to bet that Mo does the same thing. Do you really want to give a big contract to a player that has been a draft bust and only has played well

Not only no, but heck no.

If Morris continues to play at a high level, and he wants to come back for 1-2 years just to prove this year isn't a flukey season, sure. But there are too many instances were players tend to play over their heads in contract years, get paid, and play down after getting that money.

I would not even contemplate offering some bigtime contract even if he plays extremely well this year.
His knees are already hurting him and it's only going to be the 4th game. Highly doubtful that he
will last the season. I think his remaining time in the NFL is limited and I would just move on to
another CB next year and get a pick from the league for him. Keep churning the roster, Stephen
and the boys will be just fine.

Let me get through this season before I start to wonder if we should resign Claiborne.

He played ok, but he was not matched against Jones as much as many fans think. Mo sure didn't shut Jones down and he didn't show himself to be an elite CB at any time during the Falcons game .he is playing like an average starter in this league.

Good point. It is easy to see that he is playing for a big contract from Dallas or another team. Money has finally made him healthy, confident and it has him putting out some effort. Mo is a classic example of the type of player that a team should not sign to a big contract.

This has '09 Spencer all over it. I hope he has a great season, but I would hesitate to even sign himlong term. I'd rather use that money and sign a good 1 tech at the fraction of the proposed numbers the OP stated.
