Guys like Carp, Fergusson, Glenn and possibly Ellis to me are just sensible business moves. Ellis needs to stop complaining every offseason. Jerry gave him an insurance clause last year...what more does he want?
I disagree on Carpenter, but I'm not into premature evaluation.

Guys had Bradie James run out of town on a rail after 3 years. How does it look now?

But Bradie James also showed flashes of promise...aside from a dropped int and a few tackles in the Seattle game last season what has Carp shown?

He did? Puhlease. I remember thread after thread about getting rid of Bradie James. AdButcher actually knows Bradie. Ask him how many there were.

I would honestly think about cutting our losses with Roy "Biscuit" "One tackle" Williams. I used to love the guy but he is a shell of his former self at a young age. I would resign Hamlin to play SS and move Henry to FS. Sign a good free agent CB and draft one. We HAVE to get better in the secondary. It is the biggest weakness on our team.

I'm not ready to give up on Roy yet....it wasn't that many years ago that he made the game winning int on Mcnabb aka dumb Donovan in Philly, or layed a hit on Mccown when he was qb of the Cardinals. I think he is ready to rededicate himself to his craft, the signs are all there: the number change, talking to a local minister about the change. It really seems like he's willing to do it, now if we are sitting here next year with the same secondary problems then I'd say enough's enough.

P.S. I love me some Drayton Florence!

Florence would be an upgrade at CB! As far as Roy goes, If I didn't cut him this year I would give him 1 last chance to get his act together. He has never been good in coverage and we knew that when he came out of OU. He was always known for making game changing plays and big hits. He has done very little of either for the last few years. It is hard to keep a safety with bad coverage skills when he doesn't make big plays elsewhere. On one play in the Giants game the receiver caught the ball a yard and a half behind the first down marker with Roy in front of him. He stiffed arm his way past Roy. Roy from his early career would never let that happen.

Thats wrong and not even a decent rebuttal. James didnt do ANYTHING other than asingle big hit in his first two years. They were all but willing him to take Coakleys job and he just couldnt do it.

The correct rebuttal is that James was a 4th rounder and Carp was a 1st and therefore his lack of development is even more telling.

I just dont think that Phillips has given him enough of a look yet.

He played OLB better last year then Spencer did last yet somehow I doubt people will be calling for Spencer's head.

That's my bad for not using the correct rebuttal in regards to James. But dude come on, with the playing time Spencer had he got sacks, tackles for losses...etc. Carpenter never got those during his playing time. Spencer was really getting it together when Ellis returned. Now obviously Ellis returning this year took away Spencer's playing time but when you look at upside how many more seasons can Ellis really be an impact player?

I think Carpenter led or was tied for the tema lead in Special Teams tackles.

I want more out of him too, but it's too soon for the bust label.

I agree. Also, I would keep Terry Glenn. If he stays healthy he's still a very dangerous weapon. He's also younger than T.O.

I agree, we definitely need to keep Hamlin. I could live without Terry, he is on his last knee, err, I mean leg.

We can draft Glenn's replacement. We need to get younger at WR anyway.
