not that I think it will happen but which backs are out there now who may fit in with our offense or what we are attempting to do with Wade and Garret at the helm?
seems like the 'big guys' are plentiful right now--Dillon, Dane, Barlow, Buckhalter etc.. but there must be others..
running backs seem to be the easiest of all positions to find in football so we probably have a good shot at getting a good one, hopefully one who will know how to use the holes our refined OL will be opening up this year..

2 words...the draft.

I don't like any of the Free Agent RBs now that Rhodes is off to hell, I mean Oakland.

No one in FA......as Hos said the draft. It would take one heck of a good trade. Peterson projected #3 and Lynch #12-16

Marshawn Lynch or Michael Bush.
I think Lynch is going to go a lot higher than people imagine. Bush is a thought, but not round 1.

Marion Barber the Third.

And the best thing? He's already on the team.

Now queue in the "He's not an every down back" crew... and I happen to agree with them to an extent, but I think he's earned the right to show us whether or not he can carry the load. If he can, great, we're all wrong about him. If he can't, then we get a better starter and move him back to his 3rd down/goalline role.

If we do trade Jones, which i don't think or want to happen, I think we could find a good value in the second or Third at RB. I personally love Kenny Irons out of AU. Runs a lot like Barber, like he is mad, but I think he has more speed and is more elusive than Barber.

while i can agree with this - if he's *not* that every down back, who do we have waiting in the wings to hedge our bet on this one?

Same here, Irons or even Pittman would be a good pickup for Dallas

We have 6 weeks to go till the draft, and unless something happens in FA, we really have nothing to do but argue over mocks. If no trades have been made by now, there will be known untill either right before the draft, or during it. Then after the draft is 2+ months of nothing but talking about the draft, waiting for TC to start. I know we have the mini camps, but usually little happens there. Thats a little longer so I guess its worse.

Bush is a bigger Marion Barber. No home run threat and who knows when he will be fully recovered from his broken leg.

Michael Bush is pretty dang fast. Sure he might be a big back, but IMO he atleast as much of a threat as Julius is right now.

Lynch from Cal isn't going in the top 10 so he could very well fall to the 22nd spot. He reminds people of a young Corey Dillion, but he can catch the ball out the backfield much better...

I know I'm a total homer, but I think Tyson Thompson can step into the rotation with Barber and maybe be better than Jones was.

There are a slew of FAs you could bring in as backup/insurance.

No one. We don't have to have someone "waiting in the wings" in order to take a chance at improving our running game.

Am I wrong for thinking that Barber Will not be able to last a whole season?
His wreckless abandon style will eventually get him hurt. I see don't see him as 20+ carries RB.

Keep Jones period....Why would we mess with a streght of the team. some say trade jones draft a rookie....

What happens when the rookie doens't work out and we find out that Barber is only good for 15 carries a game

But if we can get a 2nd for him I would think about it, only because he is a FA to be next season, therefore a team trading for him has to have him agree to an extension b4 the trade...

But if we did trade JOnes I would Make a push for Buckhalter, for real, if he can stay healthy he can be a real gamebreaker...

You took the words right out of my mouth Flashback. I thought BP was high on Thompson and said he wasn't ready to start b/c he didn't yet understand the Pro game well enough to block well. And I thought he was playing better w/ each game he was in.

BTW, I really like Michael Bush. He reminds me a lot of Omar Jacobs who seems to do pretty well against us when we play the Giants...
