If JJ gets traded, who is out there?

2 words...the draft.

I don't like any of the Free Agent RBs now that Rhodes is off to hell, I mean Oakland.
Yes, the draft would be the answer, not a free agent or trade.

You took the words right out of my mouth Flashback. I thought BP was high on Thompson and said he wasn't ready to start b/c he didn't yet understand the Pro game well enough to block well. And I thought he was playing better w/ each game he was in.

BTW, I really like Michael Bush. He reminds me a lot of Omar Jacobs who seems to do pretty well against us when we play the Giants...

M bush reminds you of the Qb from Bowling Green??

Or did you mean Brandon Jacobs with the Giants :)

I like Lynch he is just like Marion Barber but has speed too. He's an ultimate threat

I'd look at some of the mid round players. It's my opinion that you take a QB and/or RB in every draft at some point, unless you are inundated with talent. Let Jones playout his contract and see what happens after this season.

Michael Bush is pretty dang fast. Sure he might be a big back, but IMO he atleast as much of a threat as Julius is right now.

I watched plenty of Louisville games and have never seen Bush display Julius Jones straightline speed.

I have nothing against Speed but it take more than speed to be a great RB, Smith was nothing but a 4.5 guy and ended up being the all time leading rusher. I'll take a guy who knows how to pick his way thought he line and the ability to break tackles over speed.

Thats not really that fair of an assessment considering if you watched the Louisville games you wouldnt have seen Bush, because he like Julia is always injured

but I think he's earned the right to show us whether or not he can carry the load. If he can, great, we're all wrong about him. If he can't, then we get a better starter and move him back to his 3rd down/goalline role.

that's what's so risky about trading away Julius, 1st off, we might not get an equal player, or better, and 2, if MBIII has to move back to 3rd down/goalline, we're w/o Julius and w/ a lesser runner in that starter's role, and of course you can't have it that way, so you move MBIII to a role he's not best-suited for, and your running game suffers

make the starter's role a gamble when you have 3 options for that starter's role, hell, even 4, still have Tyson Thompson to throw into that mix, and that can be best done by taking a runner on the 2nd day IMO

fill more pressing needs 1st, and then play around w/ the RB situation

Is Jones going to be a RFA after this season? If so I see us at least tendering him and getting compensation for him afterwards. IIRC, he isn't breaking the bank for his production.

Am I wrong for thinking that Barber Will not be able to last a whole season?
His wreckless abandon style will eventually get him hurt. I see don't see him as 20+ carries RB.

He may not be able to hold up the whole season, but he's earned the chance to show if he can IMO.

So we should settle for average just cuz we're afraid of losing depth? What other "pressing needs" do we have? Oh that's right, we don't have any pressing needs.

We're in the situation now where we can look at one of our "Solid" units, and try to make it better. You don't win superbowls settling for average. If MB3 can hold up the whole season he'd be better then JuJo. He deserves a shot at the starting job.

Or we could go out and try and get an "elite" runner and leave MB3 where he's at.

He'll be an UFA after next season.

not saying MBIII doesn't deserve a shot, just replying to you saying that if MBIII can't be the starter, no big deal, he can just go back to his old role

but guess what? we might not have a starter then

the only elite back available is AD

Meh. Not worth trading up for that risk.

EDIT: Wait - did you mean AP, as in Adrian Peterson? Because otherwise I have no clue who AD is.

If anything Barber at least has earned the chance to compete for the starting job. I like Jones but there is no doubt who the most productive back on the team was last season. Barber was pretty consistent in his play and when he was getting series in the 2nd half of games he seem to add a spark to the offense.

AD is the nickname Peterson's mother or grandmother gave him

AD is AP's nickname. Stands for "All Day".

Our pass rush will be improved due to scheme alone. W/o Zimmer here, our pass rush is already better.

Again, so we should settle for average just cuz your scared of losing depth?

His last name is Peterson, not Deterson.

And eventhough I think he has a lot of talent, I wouldn't trade up for him cuz of his injury problems.
