Jerry lucked up on Jimmy to 3 superbowls and he's been spending every waking moment since getting rid of Jimmy trying to show it was him who architected those superbowls.

Jerry seems to slowly be moving out of the way and allowing for more 'football' moves, but sadly, we have the opposite problem of wheeling and dealing jerry in the accountant Stephen Jones who only wants to penny pinch and bargain his way into an 'entertaining', but not superbowl winning team.

I'm a guns up Red Raider
TT has been a class team the past ten years. My Uncle was a Texas High School football coach and in high school he told this one to me.

Know why no one wants to play for Texas Tech? They have TT on their helmets...the old SWC.

Very well said, Amigo. I watched all eight SB's live and hopefully the newer fans will get to watch a few also
Ditto. I saw all the SBs too. It is a crying shame it has been to dang long since our last one. Makes you feel bad for the young fans that have yet to experience the glory.

We officially pulled out in '75 and started to remake the NCO Corp for the next 10 years You are trouble shooting and now insultive. I was active in the Reserves when Afghanistan was already started up and finished out an extra three years.

I have two National Defense Ribbons as to time lines...that's all I say there.

Now, I graduated from H.M. King High in Kingsville, Tx. (1968) Plenty of time unless one lives under 'a rock.' I had two different Top Secret ratings as well.

Missing element was 3rd ACR during Desert Storm...Eastern Unit with 92d Airborne.
Just questioning because some of what you said didn’t make sense the way it was presented.

The team owner Clint Murchison hired Tex Schramm as president and general manager. He wasn't the owner of the team. Selective memory?
So, Jerry isn’t the president and general manager?

Whose being selective?

No, it was presented and still was true...you negatively assumed. I served and ended up a 'Joe.' I started out being paid from the Officer Funds...

Well, you got me there on the facts, I guess. But certainly you're not comparing Tex Schramm' s behavior in those days to JJ's today? You did bring TS up, right?

Tex Schramm as GM led to the Cowboys' greatness. You can't honestly say the same for Jerry Jones in the last 28 years without Jimmy Johnson.

You presented Landry as if he was the monolithic face of the franchise and no one else was in the media as a way to slam Jones.

I was simply pointing out that Tex loved the limelight himself and often “made news” and was on weekly shows and interviewed more than most any GM in the game for many many years. He was a media personality in an era where media was much more limited.

To make it sound otherwise is just, as you said, selective memory. You can just say you don’t like Jerry. That’s not an unusual opinion around here.

Now wait, you mentioned selective memory first. My original post was about the success Landry and Jimmy Johnson had. You mentioned Tex Schramm as loving the spotlight, but he too had lots of success. Jerry Jones, on his own has not. He thrives on attention and behaves like a snake oil salesman. And for all the business acumen, success and money, he's not achieved a NFC Championship or SB on his own. That was the point of my original post.

The salary cap was established. That's what changed.
Stephen Jones who only wants to penny pinch and bargain his way into an 'entertaining', but not superbowl winning team.
Again. Salary cap. You can't give everyone a huge contract. It's not like we're operating at the lowest amount of cap spending that is allowed by the league.

Tex had a weekly show, not three. He did not do post game interviews, never held a “State of the Cowboys“ extravaganza at the beginning of training camp. Schramm always let his head coach be the mouthpiece of team and its players. Tex was the mouthpiece for the organization. Unlike our current GM, Tex was NEVER considered the “face of the franchise”.

Jerry is a truly great businessman who reshaped how the NFL makes money. He’s a business genius. He’s in the HOF for that reason alone. He is not a genius at football.

Yes GMs all talk to varying degrees. Jerry talks waaaaay more than any other GM in the NFL. It’s not even close.
