I’d like to think it’s because of shear incompetence and poor pickings that led us to where we are.

Every now and then it becomes more apparent to me that two things Jerry Jones is and isn’t. A SMART businessman, horrible football owner.

You don’t think these deals he’s making he’s thinking how much $$$ this jersey will sell? Over the last 28 years, after JJ left, maybe his regime change was to sell jersey’s now that he’s got everyone sold Dallas is ELITE. Has he created his very own Ponzi scheme with the wishes and prayers of all dallas fans? Paying back one with another instant sports highlight to sell you a $9 CUP of popcorn?

Only issue is eventually you need to pay your stockholders the money or it won’t work anymore. Eventually, Jerry’s going to have to win a Super Bowl and re pay those wishes and prayers or no one will buy jersey’s of Dallas anymore as there won’t be a reason to.
Where we are is the 3rd year in a row with double digit wins and their best team in decades

This will be the third year in a row with double digit wins.
Rambo it’s great to be optimistic but we can’t act like it’s already happened. Saying “will be” is different that “it’s happened”. I like this team’s potential and we’re just getting started.

But like the late great U of Texas HC Darrell Royal once said, “Potential just means you ain‘t done it yet.”

It's going to happen.

I’ve been following the Cowboys since 1962. I believe I’ve only missed watching a handful of games in that time. Thinking back to the early days, the face of the Cowboys was always Coach Landry. We didn’t see the owner or hear from him on every team issue. Tom Landry took care of all that… and that was that! The fans were brutal in those days too. I remember fans and sportscasters saying the Cowboys were a soft, finesse team, not tough enough to win against Green Bay or Pittsburgh. According to Cowboys detractors, they were very talented but not tough enough to win a championship. Then the ’72 Superbowl happened and later, the ’78! The Cowboys set a lot of winning records in the 60’s and 70’s.

Later, the face of the team became Jimmy Johnson. The new owner tried to bask in the limelight, but ultimately, the face of the three SB winning Cowboys was Jimmy Johnson. Jerry Jones paid the bills, but Jimmy Johnson worked the trades, the drafts and the winning strategies in that era. Although physically there for only two of the three, all three wins are deservedly attributed to Jimmy Johnson’s coaching acumen.

So, what’s changed in the last 28 years? I’ll let you be the judge.
I seem to recall seeing Tex plenty. He didn’t mind the limelight.

I think some folks have a selective memory.

We sure did. He was right there with Tom on the weekly TV show.

Out of curiosity how did you get appointed to the Air Force Academy and remain an NCO? Graduates of service academies are commissioned officers.
I got the appointment out of High School and attended one year, playing football. I was no longer pilot qualified...and went back to Texas A&I, I played football for the Javelinas. Graduated and went to Western State Law School across the street from Cal State Fullerton for a year and then, still during Viet Nam, enlisted - crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and swearing in San Francisco. I came up an enlisted and served 23 years from that point...

So you served in Vietnam and Afghanistan? Thanks for your service. I think your years must be off though.

We left Vietnam in 1973. If you served 23 years your service would’ve ended in ‘96 or 5years before we got to Afghanistan.
We officially pulled out in '75 and started to remake the NCO Corp for the next 10 years You are trouble shooting and now insultive. I was active in the Reserves when Afghanistan was already started up and finished out an extra three years.

I have two National Defense Ribbons as to time lines...that's all I say there.

Now, I graduated from H.M. King High in Kingsville, Tx. (1968) Plenty of time unless one lives under 'a rock.' I had two different Top Secret ratings as well.

Missing element was 3rd ACR during Desert Storm...Eastern Unit with 92d Airborne.

Your point is what? I know they’ll be extended for top dollar. What this organization doesn’t do is sign guys like Bobby Wagner
Get closer to truth and get back on topic...I'm not into setting every single narrow viewed quote back into being true. You like Bobby Wager? Naw, just using it as a intro into your next insult.

So you fess up to being a brat...my Grandfather carried a duffle bag in Normandy. My Father took 184 depth charges on the US Plunger in the Sea of Japan. My Brother made a training manual that was used in Naval Air Station in Kingsville,Tx...for entry level Navy Pilots on jets. Me, I served 23 years and was a NCO for 19 years after attending the US Air Force Academy following a Congressional Appointment from Senator Kika de la Garza......and your point really is?
It’s getting deep

The team owner Clint Murchison hired Tex Schramm as president and general manager. He wasn't the owner of the team. Selective memory?

This is interesting. I don’t think I have ever heard the theory that Jerry is the problem. I’m sure this took some long nights thinking this through.

I am 10 years older than you. I saw all the 90s success live but was in grade school so couldn't really fully comprehend the history they made winning 3 in 4 years and just how good they were. I thought this was normal. Little did I know would not even close to come experiencing anything like that once the Steelers super bowl ended.

At that age, I would be playing with friends in the other room while the NFC Championship games were on and even the Super Bowls.
Ugh that hurt to read. We missed out

That's quite a big of sugar. Whatever helps you sleep. Tom Landry built a good team. Jerry built the NFL lol. I could care less about Jerry Jones but I'm not dumb enough to think Jerry hasn't ever built anything haha...duuumb
Jerry didn't build anything. If anyone it was George Halas that was the driving force of the NFL. This league would be a moneymaker if there never was a Jerry Jones. I know the Cowboys would be better off. His only success with this team was because he was friends with Jimmy Johnson.

So in a world with 8 billion people Jerry Jones has built nothing...I couldn't imagine hating someone so much. Why do you guys root for a team that's owned by someone you hate so much? Go outside.

I am outside. I root for this team because I've been a fan for nearly 50 years and have great memories of how this team used to be. I'm too old to change. If Jerry had bought any other team nobody would care and if he ran this team back then like he does now he would have no SB rings. Tom and Tex built the Cowboys brand and Jimmy built the dynasty. Jerry did what Jimmy told him too. That Walker trade doesn't happen without Jimmy's approval. And Jerry has had 28 years to prove he can build a SB team and we're still waiting. I don't have Jerry. I just hate what he's done to the Cowboys. We used to be respected. Now we're nothing more than a reality show.

My hand will always be “Horns Down”, lol, although I certainly respect Darrell Royal and UTs accomplishments over the years.
