then is it better to miss the playoffs and start looking for a new HC immediately? or back into the playoffs and be a 1 and done team?

lets face it. Playoffs or not, this year is done. No way we beat Saints or Vikes in playoffs.

Your thoughts?

How can you possibly root for your team to not make the playoffs?

No way the Cards were going to the SB last year they played poor football going 2 and 3 over their last 5 game yet made it to the show. You give up you will not win that is for sure I don't think this team will give up and I sure as heck have not given up on them. When the season is done all these issues can be addressed until then I expect the Cowboys to play to win

Let me preface this by saying I want nothing more than to win a playoff game, so don't lump me in with him...

but sometimes you have to concede a battle to win the war. Making the playoffs may give Hog Wild a pretext to find some reason to keep Wade. Further worse, Jason Garrett.

because the sky is falling. you didn't know?

getcha hardhats ready!:D

No he is gone either way.

We need to make the playoffs, just get in and see what happens.

Getting in might be enough to perk this team up and get them rolling.

Please god getting in.

If you think Wade is the overall problem here, your mistaken. This team needs a serious talent upgrade to beat the ELITE teams in the NFL. We have probably 3 guys going to the pro bowl, the chargers have 3 alone on offense..Rivers, Gates, and Jackson. Wade is only part of the problem, but our talent is being exposed as average in the latest December meltdown.

My answer: YES.

One good thing, this wagon is pretty comfy now that so many are jumping off of it. Plenty of leg room. Don’t let the wheels run you over as you jump and please no returns :laugh2:

I think Wade is gone now regardless of what happens after the game against San Diego.I still think Garrett is the leading candidate to replace Wade, and he's still under contract for another year.

If they make the playoffs they have a chance to do something.I don't think they are good enough to make the Super Bowl, but I didn't think Arizona would make it last year either.

Because a new coach guarantees we'll start making deep playoff runs.

Wade's had three shots at it. I know this year's not "officially" in the books, but it may as well be. It's time to move on.

Did anyone ever consider the possibility of us missing the playoffs and Wade NOT being fired? Jerry Jones looks fed up and he knows something must be done to maintain interest in his his billion dollar baby, but he is hard to read sometimes. What if he sticks by Wade again while everyone else is calling for his head?

A bunch of quitters I guess. I'll never wish for this team to miss the playoffs. Anything can happen once you get there. Ask the Giants. That being said, Wade can't be ousted in the 1st round again and still be here. If he doesn't make it to the NFC Championship game he's more than likely fired.

Or people might realize that one more SB win and Jerry rides of into the backburner, with Stephen (the real football mind of the family) taking the reigns? Maybe Wade would retire too.

What ELITE teams? Flash in the pan teams like New Orleans and Minnesota who might get lucky to replicate their success next year? This is a league of "pretty good". If your talent is at that level, you can win. That's the whole point of the cap and of parity to begin with.

Sorry, but the "we don't have the talent" rationale is a cop-out.

The coaching on this team is an issue. Nobody's talent is ELITE. But if you look at most of the teams in playoff contention, what you do see that is ELITE are the staffs in charge of those teams.

The "pretty good" who are mistaken for ELITE (Indianapolis, Philadelphia, New England) all have excellent coaching staffs with well-developed organizational philosophies in place. Do we? No.

We have probably 3 guys going to the pro bowl, the chargers have 3 alone on offense..Rivers, Gates, and Jackson.

So what happened with that 12 Pro Bowler team in 2007?

Wade is only part of the problem, but our talent is being exposed as average in the latest December meltdown.

So the talent was good enough for eight wins prior to December but suddenly isn't any longer?

Strong coaches provide that extra edge in crunch time. This is like the two minute warning. Who cares if your previous 58 minutes was a struggle? You want the finish. Banking hopes that we'll suddenly morph into the Cardinals of last year is a fruitless endeavor. Wade Phillips isn't equipped to pick the team up, dust them off and march them back out again. If we do an Arizona, it will have to come from the players themselves.

I had a nightmare about this the other night if that's what you mean.

No way I root for missing the playoffs, what happens in the off season has no bearing in my mind at the moment. Right now all I'm thinking is 2 wins and they're in.
