If missing the playoffs means Wade is gone...

Did anyone ever consider the possibility of us missing the playoffs and Wade NOT being fired? Jerry Jones looks fed up and he knows something must be done to maintain interest in his his billion dollar baby, but he is hard to read sometimes. What if he sticks by Wade again while everyone else is calling for his head?

It's not a possibility.

I've been one of Wade's few supporters on this site. If we don't win a play-off game this year his dismissal is required.

I'm not saying I know for sure it's the best thing or that it will help. I'm just saying 3 years by anyone's measure is suffcient time to achieve his goal as I'm sure it was defined by Jerry.

3 games left to get it right and get on a run or totally bomb. If we bomb out then I say fire everybody, not before....

A bunch of quitters I guess. I'll never wish for this team to miss the playoffs. Anything can happen once you get there. Ask the Giants. That being said, Wade can't be ousted in the 1st round again and still be here. If he doesn't make it to the NFC Championship game he's more than likely fired.

Wade won't have to be fired, his contract expires at years end.

This could be the stupidest idea posted after the loss on Sunday. Seriously? Root for the Cowboys to lose? Wow...

True, then again I think it comes down to what this team is able to do and of course the one thing none of us know and that is the relationship between Wade and Jerry. I don't think it is a given that Wade is a goner I think it still comes down to what this team does.

lets face it. Playoffs or not, this year is done. No way we beat Saints or Vikes in playoffs.

Your thoughts?

I should root against the Cowboys so that I can anxiously await Jerry's next hiring?

No thanks.

That is a brutal way to put it.

I think the affinity Jerry Jones has for Wade Phillips is vastly underrated. I believe he genuinely likes him. Above all else, he likes the ease of the relationship. He isn't challenged, there is no tension and very little disagreement. He isn't "walking on egg shells". He's almost perfect for Jones. Now if he could just win a playoff game to get the flames away from Jones' heels, he'd be golden.

Or people might realize that one more SB win and Jerry rides of into the backburner, with Stephen (the real football mind of the family) taking the reigns? Maybe Wade would retire too.

What the hell has Stephen done for you consider him the "football mind" of the family?

I want the cowboys in the playoffs, too. But we will probably have to win
our last game against philly.
And then more than possibly we have to play the eagles again at their house.
I mean you have to beat the eagles three times.

I´m sorry but that won´t happen.

It is not fair to stomp on people's hope like that.

He talks good in interviews.

Hey...color me brutal. :)

I recall when I would bash Parcells, you'd say "You want Dave Campo again as coach?"

I had assumed Jerry learned his lesson.

NOT.

I think having a good working relationship with Jones is important I also think Wade fate goes hand in hand with how this team does in the end. I think the players like playing for Wade but it comes down to winning.

You make a valid point.

I don't know how strong a relationship Jerry and Wade have. But then again just because Jerry likes Wade the person it doesn't mean he that he has faith in Wade the coach to win a championship.

I think it will boil down the what names are out there at seasons end. What do they bring to the table? How do they compare to Wade? How do they compare to Jason? What are the feelings of Stephen on the matter? How much do you let public opinion influence the decision? How will any outside candidate mesh with the current roster? Will any outside candidates change in philosophy cause this team to regress in the transition?

So many variables to consider. It will get more interesting in the coming weeks regardless of how the team performs on the field.

No. I won't root against the Cowboys. This team is trapped in a culture of mediocrity, and the only way to change that culture is to win at a high level. The opportunity to win a playoff game is infinitely more important than the possibility of Jerry's scapegoat du jour being fired.

I would never root for the Cowboys to lose. That being said, as good a businessman as Jerry is, don't you think he'd bring in a proven winner to coach and pay whatever it takes. It's really the only spot on the football team, where you can overpay and not have it hurt your team. For the life of me, I just dont' understand.

Well....that's a better reason than I could've come up with because that's about all he's done here is give interviews.

The only time I would ever think losing is a better option is if it means landing some amazing Draft pick. That is already out of the question. Winning builds character, the playoffs matter.

Therefore, no.
