it is sad when money is a goal not a tool
Can you explain that a little more please? I don't follow the NBA anymore but heard they did have some exemptions?I agree, maybe a cap like NBAs Supermax with a hometown advantage

I was thinking maybe have 1 player per team cap free.
Without these billionaires putting their money up there would be no NFL.Maybe we should put a cap on Billionaire salaries?
Thank you sir, interesting concept. What is a supermax contract? Officially known as the "Designated Veteran Player Extension," this rule allows teams to re-sign qualified players to maximum five-year contracts worth up to 35 percent of the salary cap with eight percent escalation in each subsequent year.
The NBA also gives the home team the right contractually to offer the highest money which can help drafting teams keep key players if they want. Or at least give them an advantage.
nontheless the contract for any star player has a ceiling cap that no one can exceed. 35% is pretty high for the NFL but could make it like 25 or so. Anyway, I like the concept.
Excellent post! It's life as we know it. Just because it doesn't seem fair doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Teachers are another a good example. It's a rare commodity that very few individuals are capable of to play football on a professional level. Their supply is extremely limited. Hence the value escalates to something mind-boggling to the average individual.
If the supply is that limited, the monetary rewards reflect it. That's just life in a capitalistic society. Fair really isn't a factor at all in the real world, as we know it. The socialistic societies surely have drawbacks of their own, also. Their extremely demanding taxes are certainly a reflection of that sad fact.
The salary cap has turned into a joke when your average QB wants elite money. It totally defeats the point of the cap. Then there should probably be a NFLQB salary Cap for same reason they established the original Caps.
If you must have an elite QB to compete at 40 mil per year how does that make the NFL more competitive?
Excellent post!
My daughter that's an RN makes much more money than my daughter who is a teacher. Nurses are always in high demand and she can pick and choose which job she wants.
So where should the money go. The owner should get all the billions and the players should get nothing? Make it make sense....In my book no entertainer should be paid even half f that money
if the numbers are at 40 or above, then its the market and teams have to figure it out. the cap is the same for everyone, so somehow, someway teams will have to figure out how to pay QBs and still remain competitive and under the cap. Then there should probably be a NFLQB salary Cap for same reason they established the original Caps.

The NFL is full of them. Here, I'll make a list........Name one QB that is paid 40 million or close to it.
The owners have an unlimited window of opportunity to make money. The players have 5-10 years if they’re lucky.Your book seems arbitrary. If an employee is raking in big bucks for his/her employer, why should they be capped? Because you and I will never see that kind of money?
The owners/producers are making bank off the work of the performers. I can't see any reason other than jealousy to have a gripe with the performers' cut.

elite money? what is elite money? what's average.....reality is different than the average fans want of a football...The salary cap has turned into a joke when your average QB wants elite money. It totally defeats the point of the cap.
Maybe the NFL should just shut down and let all these QBs go out and find a regular job like the rest of the world does.

Has an NFL QB ask for 40 mil? Then there should probably be a NFLQB salary Cap for same reason they established the original Caps.
