If Quinn leaves, who should be new DC replacement?

Vic Fangio

He's the one who supposedly drew up the blueprint to stop our #1 offense with Dak as our QB. He's a Philthy guy and he's there teaching them how to stop Dak because Dak has pretty much owned them. It didn't work a few weeks ago even though Philthy, like the Broncos D last year, has the tools to run his defense. Since he's a Philthy guy who looks like a tough coach, I doubt he would come here.
Many teams try to copy his schemes In man coverage and his quarter quarter half zone style, but he’s the only one I can think of that has been able to do it at a high level. I’d definitely take him. His defenses have always been good

Bring back Kris Richards. He was great in Seattle, Dallas, and with the Saints. The Saints have had great defense the last 2 years with Richards and secondary has played well.

But, if Joe Whitt does not leave with Quinn, it will be Joe Whitt.

Richards is the secondary coach with Saints. a unit that has only 2 INTs for entire year.
Plus any new DC would have to have some workings with how to best use Parsons - that's a super huge key in the next DC

and if Richards only knows 4-3, that's not an ideal role to beat-pound Parsons down as a pure DE.

More so, if Quinn leaves Cowboys could immediately promote Whitt to new DC? i dunno if Witt's current contract expires soon or not

Read again the post that ends with Joe Whitt.

But, Kris Richard has basically been great for the Saints who have the no.3 team in pass defense top 10 overall. So I don't understand your 2 interception comment. They also are no.5 in sacks.

Remember Kris Richard was with the Legion of Boom before Quinn. So he knows more than the 4-3 and the legion of Boom was a 4-2-5 and 4-3 defense same as currently in Dallas (See Pete Carroll USC ties to Kris Richard/Dennis Thurman).

The last thing we should be thinking is 4-3 DEF. We need to move away from this coaching tree if Quinn leaves

Unless they want our best player to wear down before his next contract we might think about the 34 D again.

PENN ST PLAYED A 4-3 Defense. TOM LANDRY 4-3 Defense. JIMMY JOHNSON 4-3 Defense.

No Cowboys team has won a Super Bowl in a 3-4 Defense. You do not need to play Parsons at DE. He can play the position he played at Penn St. in a 4-3 defense....Linebacker!!!!...all over the field.

You need defensive tackles and he (Parsons) would not have to catch OL from the other teams on every play. Parson is lining up at DE all the time because you have DTs that can generate inside pass rush where the QB cannot step up in the pocket. Parson would be greater in a real 4-3 defense/4-2-5 that protects linebackers and let them go tackle, blitz, and cover.

People forget that D Ware had DTs and inside DEs like Pro Bowler Jay Ratliff, studs like Canty, Hatcher, and Spears at those positions. When you have inside DL taking up the C and both OGs that leaves you one on one at DE or a RB/TE trying to stop a talent like Parsons. Demarcus Ware broke the LB sack record of 4-3 Blitzing LB Anthony Dickerson because Randy White was still dominant inside.

Dickerson again played LB in a 4-3 Defense but had 10.5 sacks, 114 tackles, and 1 interception. I think Parsons is a better prospect than Dickerson who was a UDFA.
