Do we keep the hot hand, or do we here the normal from Jerry "Dak is our guy, I want to make that clear!" One of the reasons I feel why we've never had a DECENT backup is because Jerry wanted to rid any QB controversy taking place!

At this point it's all about getting wins, please give me your thoughts..
No, it’s all about dollars and cents.

And that's what's wrong with this franchise in a nutshell. Salary dictates who plays. There is no competition among the players to compete for a starting job.
That’s why there isn’t a good QB to push him can you imagine if the other guy was outplaying your 40million QB you think is the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the NFL , not a good look so it doesn’t happen.

If Dak didn't have a no trade clause, do you think teams would be lining up an offering us 1st round draft picks and taking on his 40 million dollar salary if we made him availible for a trade?
Not many QB’s are ever traded at the peak of their second contract

How would any QB with an arm like Cooper Rush get hot?

He's going to get . . . sacked and intercepted, I suspect.
Not if we continue to help him out with the run game and playaction passing like we should. But you can never discount kellens propensity to get too cute.

Expecting Rush to get hot is fool's errand, Rush just needs to be mistake free and not generate negative plays when asked to pass.

Run game and especially the defense led by 11 will have to step up.

Just like vs Vikings.

Rush is already hot....sorry. try to cheer him best you can

Dakota " Toad Hunter" Prescot should be the one to answer this question, since he became a starter while Romo was nursing a boo-boo! But, if you're asking me then I would have to say ...HELLS-BELLS the Cooperman should start!

Rush is a very limited QB. We can still win games with him if our defense is great and Rush protects the ball. We might even be pretty good if we relied more on our run game. But you’re not gonna win anything significant with Rush. Eventually you need a good QB if you wanna compete with Brady, Rodgers, Allen, Mahomes, Herbert etc. The thing about Dak is he’s shown to be very good and also very bad. He single-handedly lost the Bucs game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Cooper Rush play nearly as badly as Dak last week.

I'm cheering him on but Mahomes and Josh Allen are hot. Rush did his job - 235 yards, one TD, no turnovers, and 20 points.

20 points is below NFL averages of recent years and won't win many games without a lot of help in other facets of the game.

And before anyone tries to twist it, I'm not comparing Dak to Mahomes or Allen. Seems weird to have to clarify that but I've been here a while.

Just think calling Rush "hot" is a bit of a stretch. Fortunately, I don't think he has to do any more than he did last week to beat the Giants.

IDK, he was pretty bad in preseason.

I think it depends on one's definition of "hot." I don't think anyone would define what we saw on Sunday as "hot." Completion percentage in the low 60's.. 1 TD.. 20 points of offense.. that is decidedly "Meh." Now if he rolls out a few 300 yard 3 TD performances and has the team on a 5-6 game win streak then we have a conversation to be had. But barely eking out wins while kinda driving the bus.. Nah.. You want Dak back in there because we have seen that his ceiling is much higher than what Rush has shown to this point. When Rush raises his ceiling to the same level as Dak's then we can talk about him keeping the QB1 job. But he aint done that yet.

Translation: As long as the bus is moving forward and despite a few moments here & there, the bus rides the shoulder or occassionally scraps the guard rail......we ok. If the bus is steady, and in the left lane and passing other buses smoothly, we have a discussion.

If, somehow, Rush lights the league on fire, yes, you keep playing him.

Ultimately it's a moot point because it is just not going to happen. He's too limited to succeed long term.

But not everyone who throws a pass needs to be the face of the franchise. Nothing wrong with a backup we can count on to keep us competitive

The idea that after 6 or 7 years Rush will transform into a better player than Dak consistently doesn’t have the history to support the move. It’s a fan’s imagination repeated yearly in various teams and sports

My issue with the "what if Cooper gets hot" talk is, in his 2 starts...which he is 2-0, his numbers have been mid

Sub 62% passing completion, 95.5 passer rating on Sunday...92.2 against the Vikings last year

Not bad numbers, but also very much back up QB numbers

And Sunday was very much a tale of 2 halves. Once Cincy got a feel for what we wanted to do...offense was shut down

Now if Dak struggles after returning, then we can have a conversation
