I don't think anybody thought McCarthy's assistant would even be considered for the head coaching job, let alone become the favorite for it.

Even I am surprised at the amount of "I don't care" that takes from Jerry.
Im not.

Look at the troll job he pulled on us with Dak last year.

Waited until literally the start of the season making us think this team was actually moving in a different direction.

At this point its almost like he's angry at the fans for not being "happy" with our history so he is intentionally doing things to upset the fan base.

I've been a Cowboys fan since the mid 70s.
If I was gonna change I would have done it by now.
My only hope is for Jerry to pass on before I do I guess. With our luck he'll live to be 100 and still run the Cowboys further into the ground.

I'm calling for the PUBLIC HUMILIATION of Jerry. Any time he is out in public people should "boo", "hiss" and call him out his name.
Nothing is more maddening to a narcissist like Jerry than being ignored. If he's seen out in public, don't even acknowledge he's there. The media should also stop reaching out to him for interviews.

You want Jerry to flip out, just ignore his sorry butt.

Schottenherimer seems to somehow not only be in the mix, but the betting favorite to be the next head coach.

The guy they didn't have enough faith in to be anything more than an assistant OC to McCarthy.

The guy that if he left Dallas right now would not get any attention at all for an OC job and would probably get demoted to a position coach somewhere IF somebody wanted him.

I can't think of a more "we don't care at all" hire than Schottenheimer. This is basically just a tiny step above Jerry naming Stephen the HC.
It shouldn't happen but another question is if we hire Kellen Moore or Kliff Kingbry for HC and they call the plays, is Schott sticking around as OC?

This will be worse than Campo. Campo actually coached and had good defenses at least. Schotty’s fame is the butt fumble with Mark Sanchez, and losing to us in the playoffs as Seattle’s OC in 2019.

it won't make a single difference as long as Jerry is the owner. how many coaches have come and gone and results have been the same.

now Jerry wants to push witten onto the staff.

If it changes your fandom, you were never a fan. Just my opinion. that's why I don't whine about things I can't change. If I did, I'd have left a long time ago

I just genuinely wouldn't get it. Does Jerry actually think he's got another decade in him to live and be cognizant? I don't see any world where it's Schottenheimer over Kellen. Both are uninspired choices but I think Schottenheimer is far and away the worst. I'm starting to believe Jerry really isn't calling any of the shots with the lack of urgency in all departments other than signing the big named players.

I could go into hibernation for a few years if that's the hire. It would remind me of the Dave Campo hire, which was probably the laziest hire Jones has made.

Jerry really needs to hire outside council and listen to some outsiders for some perspective on this next move. Someone should also remind him he's 82 and ask him if he could wait years before getting the right head coach in place? I'm not a fan of a Deion or Belichick as hires but frankly I would 1,000 times better about those hires vs Schott or Moore.

Sounds like a Garret type of hire.
Garrett was Ben Johnson before Ben Johnson though. It didn't work out, but he was the hot up and coming head coach prospect.

There is NOBODY outside of Dallas that would even consider Schottenhiemer as their OC, heck, even Dallas didn't consider it as they just let him be McCarthys assistant.

I'm already low interest so the coaching decision isn't going to move me much either direction.

Would be an incredible gut punch IMO.

Shocking? Not really. No fanbase is more seasoned with this kind of stupidity from a GM than us.

.
You mean after he was here? Because he was just a QB coach when Jerry hired him. He only got the job because his daddy was a mediocre scout for Jerry, he carried Troy's clipboard, the Ivy League degree, etc.

Say what you want about Garrett now, but at the time he was absolutely the guy that Ben Johnson is now.
