OK, but why? Appointing Schott is pretty much 'the bunker scenario' for Jerry. He's just surrounding himself with the desperate and needy sycophants.
We all know that nothing changes until Jerry goes, appointing Schott (especially when there were ample younger innovative candidates available), further backs him into the corner and highlights his real ambition....making money and showing he can run and influence everything in his world.
It's not the greatest future, but the end is coming, thanks to Mike it's probably going to be quicker than we hoped for.

I don’t know why this is the last straw for you guys. Should’ve happened when they made Garrett or Wade coach. Or Campo. You’ve stuck it out 28 years might as well stick it out another 28x
this team is driving me into bad health beyond repair. Forget 28 more years for me sir, I may not be alive by week 5 next season. But I ain't leaving here til that day comes

If Jerry allows it then there needs to be an age limit on ownership

Not forced out but they can’t run day to day operations

....and banned names (obs Jones is out) also test for dubious DNA just in case Jerry's fathered out of wedlock.

It has been a decades long test of endurance for long time Cowboys fans. I'm not done yet. I'll have to make that decision when Stephen decides whether to hire a GM or take up where Jerry left off.

I will always be a fan because it's lodged in my brain, but I am definitely not as invested in the team as I used to be. Losses don't bother me as much any longer. I don't even pay attention to the draft until draft day. I still listen to a podcast here and there, but I used to listen to them all the time.

Staubach was absolutely my idol as a teen and remains my all-time favorite Cowboys player. I don’t remember Roger as regularly overthrowing deep balls to Pearson or anybody else. I remember him regularly leading the NFL in accuracy if not yardage. Staubach retired as the highest rated passer in NFL history. Fact.

Loved Troys’s short to intermediate passing game - Robo QB - but Staubach was THE MAN for ANY situation.

This organization is structured around one thing--making the Jones Boyz feel self-important. That's it. There is no other reason Snottenheimer is even in the discussion for HC.

Again. I'm more worried about the assistants versus head. Jimmy had great assistants. I'll take that and run with it any day.

Until Jerry and son give up control of football operations this franchise will never even sniff an NFC championship game, let alone a Super Bowl.

Players know there is no accountability from the HC for sloppy play,so there is no discipline. That's something this franchise hasn't had since Jimmy Jonhson left. One could argue the Parcell years had some, but I believe Parcells knew he was peeing into the wind. This team is a country club, not a place for hard workers who play with pride.

I've been a fan of this team since Staubach took snaps and am heartbroken at what this team has become. I will always be a fan,but I find it hard to invest my heart and soul into an organization that doesn't put their heart and soul into its fanbase.

If Shottenheimer is named the head coach of the Cowboys, I am out.

I know no one cares if I am in or out, but after 65 years of being a Cowboys fan, I believe it is telling that a lifelong fan will call it quits with his team. I glommed on to the Cowboys when they were competing with the Dallas Texans. I especially imprinted on No. 17, Dandy Don Meredith. He was and remains my favorite player of all time. That is not meant to say that he was the best player, even at his position, it was his humanity, cool, and humor. Who is the best player at his position on the Cowboys all the time? Hands down, Troy Aikman. I have seen every QB, up close and personal. No one threw the ball with such precision. When he targeted Irwin, the ball was placed right between the 8s. His long ball was also a thing of beauty. He also had fire in his belly and never backed down. Many folks would say Roger. As much as Roger was a great representative of the organization, his passing abilities were nowhere close to Aikman's. I remember going to many games and watching Staubach's first few passes. If his down and outs to Pearson sailed well above his head, as it often did, then we were in for a long day. And it happened a lot. Roger was a great leader and athlete. His Roger Dogger abilities were impressive. But if you had to pick one Cowboys' QB, it has to be Troy.

But I regress. I was at the last Super Bowl that Dallas played in. It was against Pittsburgh in Tempe. Cowboys won. Because of Cowher, the game was closer than it should have been. Since then we have endured 30 years of ineptitude. I don't need to discuss this, we all know the reasons why.

This leads to my declaration. If Shottenheimer is named head coach I am out. If this is Jerry's move it says that he does not care about winning. I have suspected that for a long time. This would be my final straw.

About 5 years ago I stopped buying anything Cowboys and I refused to go to a game either at Jerry World or on the road. I was done giving the Jones family any of my hard-earned money. I have advised other Cowboys fans to do the same thing. Jerry only cares about two things; Jerry and money. He is a narcissist and a money grubber of the worst kind.

Shottenheimer is a person who got his job because of his father. He was so negatively regarded that McCarthy decided he would call plays instead of leaving that to his offensive coordinator. Shottenheimer has shown nothing to indicate that he is any more than a position coach. Making him the HC is expedient for Jerry. Shotty will not rock the boat, will let Jerry interfere in all decisions and most importantly won't cost Jerry money. My guess is that he would take less money than Big Mike. That will make Jerry a very happy guy.

The only thing wrong with this equation is that the team will not improve, the Cowboys will continue their mediocrity and the fan base, including me, will continue to be frustrated.

I have seen this movie before. It has repeated for 30 years. It is the same BS every year. I always joke about the Cowboys always winning the Super Bowl twice a year. Once, right after the draft and the other in training camp. In those two moments, Jerry is waxing his complete bull **** and we the fans somehow buy into it even as our minds know better. Jerry is the ultimate P.T. Barnum and I have been the ultimate sucker for now going on 3 decades. That will end immediately after the coronation of the next Head Coach Flunky. Fool me 30 times shame on me.

If this is the eventuality, I will watch the NFL with dispassion. I will not care who wins or who loses. The league has become a shadow of its former self. The league declared itself as "entertainment" to obtain a waiver from anti-trust regulation and with that declaration the honesty of the league came into serious question. Now that the league endorsed gambling and is profiting from the same, the credibility of the outcome of games, especially the big ones is seriously in question, at least with me. (See the last three SBs. In each, the team that won, was referee aided in their winning drive, not just once, but several times for infractions of the rules that no one else saw.

So it is all up to Jerry. Name Shotty as the next head coach and I am out of here. So, Jerry what is it going to be?
Yeah, it's time.

I've been a fan for 48 so on years, but if something is bringing this much displeasure to our lives, it's time to move on.

Will be weird but can't continue the cycle of emotional frustration. If you want to win more than your team does, it's time to find a new team. A Schottenheimer hire screams we have no real plan or interest in winning.

Spoiler alert:

No matter who Jerry hires, you may rest assured that he does not care about winning (games)

It's about being relevant and making $$. In Jerry's mind, we're doing great
