If Shotty is as good as his dad

Marty was very good at getting players to buy in. He was also good at identifying what works and staying with it. Like running the ball as a staple of the offense. Some coaches get too cute but not Marty. To his credit. They fell short, but it wasn't his fault. So if Brian can come close to his dad, who knows what can happen. No way to tell yet..
Exactly his dad made it to AFC championship games if we make it to the NFC championship game this year I will consider it progress and I think the rest of the fan base will too

It's 100% the fanbase's fault.

He refuses to go in because he doesn't have to. He knows fans will eat up his product every single year.
Agreed if he was here in Philly he would be hung up underneath i-95 and pelted with stones he wouldn't be able to go out in public

Will that be good enough for this fan base.

His father Marty had over 200 wins and made it to some NFC championship games.

He did have Bernie kosar and Joe Montana for a while.

I don't know if it will be good enough to do as well as his father did but it may be all we can expect because after 30 years I don't think the spots are going to change on the leopard.

No matter what shotty's skill level is as a coach I think Jerry's always going to keep him a few players short of winning a Super bowl because he just refuses to go all in.

That said if he was capable of bonding the players he had to play far enough above their heads where they could overcome Jerry it would truly be a feat to behold
I know we all mention getting back to atleast the NFC championship and super bowl, but if you don't win it does it really matter? I'm sure the 49ers fan base feels similar to the Cowboys fan base, sans the fact they made it back to a couple Super Bowls they didn't win.

You're talking about making the NFC championship game .. this year... Just wow.

Marty was a pretty good coach 200 wins in the NFL isn't an easy thing to do that's a hundred more than the guy whose name is on the trophy
He did coach 21 years. With all the good teams he had you would’ve thought at least one Super Bowl appearance.

All the good teams really Cleveland and Kansas City who hadn't won anything in 20 years

Nah it wasn't like he exactly inherited Lombardi's Packers lol

He built some good teams that didn’t get it done in the playoffs. That’s the bottom line. He had a real good QB in Bernie Kozar in Cleveland and he had Joe Montana for a time in Kansas City. He had Drew Brees and Philip Rivers in San Diego. As for the Packers they sucked when Vince Lombardi got there. They were 1-10 the previous season.

Here's the bottom line brother we've had a bunch of coaches since Jimmy Johnson.

We've had coaches that have won Super bowls in parcells and McCarthy.

But nobody can overcome Jerry and get to at least an NFC championship game like Marty schottenheimer got to an AFC championship game a few times

since Campo gailey Bill parcells Wade Phillips Jason Garrett Mike McCarthy all struggled and could barely win a playoff game under Jerry.

if Brian schottenheimer does as good as his father and gets to a NFC championship game I can guarantee you Jerry's going to think it's good enough and I got to believe the fan base will be inspired.

Only a SB will be good enough.
Now is that a SB appearance and lose, or a win. Remains to be seen. Fans may be happy either way, or not.

Right now fans will be happy to get to a NFCCG, and be competitive in it.
No. Not all fans would be happy with that result. I will only be happy with a Super Bowl championship.

If Parcells and McCarthy couldn’t overcome Jerry, Brian Schottenheimer certainly won’t. lol The Cowboys haven’t even won a divisional round playoff game in 30 years. No one including Jerry is going to think it’s good enough to get to an NFC championship game. If it were to happen this upcoming season we would all be thrilled but if that’s as far as we get, Jerry and the entire fan base will be expecting a lot bigger things in 2026. No one is going to be satisfied with just getting to a title game or a Super Bowl. That would certainly be a step in the right direction, but it’s all about winning it all.

You mean to tell me with all the changes that have been made in our team.
And the fact that our division is arguably the most competitive and difficult in football.

If we made it to the NFC championship game you would not be happy and inspired.

I'm not saying completely satisfied just happy and inspired

Jerry has been satisfied with making the playoffs and rolling around the rim just staying relevant.
How could he not be elated with an NFC championship game.

You’re just saying he’s satisfied with making the playoffs and rolling around the rim. You’re frustrated like all of us, but let’s keep it real. His post game press conferences after we lose playoff games will tell you he’s not satisfied. His demeanor in his luxury box when the clock is ticking down to yet another playoff loss will tell you he’s not satisfied. Everyone would be elated with a championship game, but it would be deflating to everyone, including Jerry if we lost.

Honestly it kills me to think he's satisfied but I don't know what other conclusions I can come up with at this point.

The man is one of the most successful powerful influential individuals on the planet.

How he cannot build a team that can win more than one playoff game in 30 years is absolutely beyond me.
The only conclusion I can come up with is that it really doesn't mean that much to him anymore and he satisfied with staying relevant yes it kills me to say this because it leaves me with no hope of the Super bowl.

But I just can't believe that either he is that bad at his job or won't make enough concessions and go all in to be completely successful.

The biggest problem with Jerry it matters too much to him. He simply won’t get out of the way and allow someone else to control his team. He’s too hands on to the point where he undermines his head coaches. The most success he had was when he allowed someone else to control his team but that wasn’t fun for him. He even said one time he wanted to be a coach. He needs to take a few steps back. It appears he’s trying to take at least one step back. Stephen has been getting more involved. Not that it’s necessarily going to make things better.

The things about giving Shotty a chance are the QB he's saddled with as well as the owner/GM. Expecting him to go all the way to the SB with Dak is like trying to make excellent BBQ chicken with moldy, spoiled chicken. Sure you can put enough sauce on it to cover most of the rancid flavor but eventually, no matter what you do, it's going to make you sick.

That being said, not a single person has seen what he's capable of as a head coach. We don't know what will happen for sure. The main problem with the team is still there and he's a big fan of Johnny Walker Blue.
