If the Cowboys Don't Sign a Better Back Up QB, They've Lost their Minds

Can anyone name a QB that would be a better backup that’s currently available? I haven’t checked to see who’s available but good luck finding anything better than the three we had.

When one considers that the highest draft pick at the qb position in the last 22 years was Quincy Carter in the 2nd round, it’s no surprise they put little thought towards the quarterback position, starting and backup alike.

Quincy Carter, Isiah Stanback, Stephen McGee, Rayne Prescotta, and Bendover Denuci rounds out the list of elite talent drafted by our Cowboys since 2001…….pretty sweet talent here, huh?

Well . . . it looks like we'll be a day late and a dollar short on Carson Strong.

Think about it.

Even if he did stink it up at the Eagles practice, can you blame him? Not only is he on possibly the worst team possible, he was also buried on the depth chart so he probably stunk it up on his way out of there.

I suspect our coaches and FO will talk about how the offensive line was just so wrecked that they rolled with Greir because he's much more mobile and doesn't have a knee injury. I have two words for this type of reasoning. Tom Brady.

No, Strong isn't Brady, but statue QBs can still be successful in this league.

In any case, Strong isn't a prospect that was ever going to make their practice squad without getting picked up.

So, if we're not in the mix now, it's not worth worrying about. I think someone picks him up.

Who knows? Maybe not.

I hope we get someone else though.

Back to work for me.

You could pick three random people off a street corner and find a better backup then we had.

Until his knee injury, which people recover fully from, he was projected to be a first-round pick.

But, yeah . . . let's just roll with Rush and DiNucci.

Who are you talking about? You’re becoming harder to follow with every post.

I wouldn’t bet on that. Granted none of the QBs we played in preseason looked very good but at least Cooper Rush won a football game for us last season and played very well.

You asked me to name a QB that is better than what we have now. I can see you are lost.

Was talking about Carson Strong, who was waived.

You never mentioned Carson Strong in the post where I asked the question. Lol In another post you asked me if I watched the Broncos game. Then you mentioned Strong’s name out of the blue. Go read your posts. As for Carson Strong he did absolutely nothing in preseason which is why Philly got rid of him. You can’t just point of what he did in college you have to look at his training camp and preseason. It’s not like Philly is real solid with Jalen Hurts.

Try scrolling up and reading.....

My OP talks about strong.

You can lead a horse to water...but you can't make him read.

Strong never played in preseason.

ive been following the Strong situation all preseason and the Eagles thought they coild stash him.

So far, they've done that..

I'm sure you have a point about something somewhere in here. just not evident

I don't like how Jerry gets sentimentally attached to players. It seems like once you get on Jerry's good side, he'll keep you around for a while even if it's detrimental to the team.

We've seen this since Emmit, and several other players.

People say it was one of the worst drafts for quarterbacks, and there's some truth to that. But it wasn't so bad that you can't go pick up one of the better prospects in last year's draft to be your backup for a while, or at least 3rd string to develop.

Carson Strong had a knee injury and was told never to play again. But he went back and played and played very well. Like 70 percent completion rating and has a freaking cannon for an arm.

Then, the guy that whipped us from Denver, Josh Johnson, is also out there, if you need a healthier guy without the potential for a knee injury.

I'm cool with them keeping one of those three guys. To me, it doesn't matter who, but I would suggest Greir or DiNucci if you just have to keep one.

I think we all know that it's entirely possible to upgrade at backup quarterback.

Yes, it's nice to be able release all of your QBs knowing that no one is stupid enough to pick them up so you can stash guys on IR.

But when it comes time to play a game, and Dak gets hurt, we're going to wish we had better players than these guys.

Enough with this sunk cost nonsense.

Cut bait and upgrade.

I hate to use such a cliche' term, but this is such a no-brainer.

Without using Google tell me the names of the backup QBs for the last 5 super bowl winners? Y’all have some weird priorities. Any NFL guy will tell you, if your starter gos down. YOU’RE DONE

Rush will probably be back. But I don't think it's be very hard to find an upgrade to him on the market

You came here just to torture me with this? :(

I realize I likely won't get my wish, yes.

I'm prepared for it. I'm still hoping for the best though.
You never know toots. Ole Rush may play another game like he did against Minnesota SHOULD he have to take over.

There's always a bright side -------> runs
