Should they tank (lose out) and secure a higher draft pick for next year's draft?

I mean, if the Cowbg meaninglessoys lose to the Bengals, they would be at 5 - 8 with only 4 games left in the season. A loss on Monday Night against the Bengals would pretty much eliminate our Cowboys from reaching the playoffs, so why not lose out and secure a much higher draft pick?

What say you?
Wanted Dallas to lose that last two games. Winning meaningless games are....................meaningless

This team is going nowhere. One of the worse to run the ball, stop the run, took Week 12 to get their 1st rushing TD at home. Gets blown out at home and
has a QB that averages less than 5 yards to complete a pass

The Cowboys are not going to tanks so it doesn't matter.

The Bengals have won 4 games and all have come against inept offenses, the Giants, Panthers, Browns, and Raiders. Those teams rank 32, 31, 30, 27 in points scored. The Cowboys rank 21st.

Clearly, the Bengals defense is not stopping many teams from outscoring them. But it should be noted, under Rush, the Cowboys offense has not scored more than 20 points in any game so far. In 12 games they are averaging about 20.6 points per game. Then Bengals average scoring almost 28 points per game. If the Cowboys defense, or special teams, does not score points, I don't think they will win.

Good points……. I don’t think we have the offense to keep up, we will need a special teams score from Turpin to win.

They shouldn't tank, but they should rest injured players and play younger players. Rush should go to the bench for Lance. Vaughn should be made the starting running back. More Mingo, Turpin and Flournoy, less Cooks, even rest Lamb and his beat-up shoulder. Let Ferguson rest his head and Schoon and Spann-Ford be the top two tight ends.

On defense, lots of Kneeland, Mazi and Liufau. I would have loved to see more of the younger safeties (Bell and Thomas) but injuries give us limited options there. I wouldn't make too many changes on defense if we're thinking about keeping Zimmer because we need to see it at its strength when most of this season we've seen it while broken by injuries.

Frankly, I don't think we give up on the playoffs/a winning record if we lose to Cincy. I think we'd need another loss, which may not come until we play Tampa. That means we're not liable to really see a focus on the younger players until the last two games of the season.

However, I'd love to see players like Lance and Vaughn be given the last four games to show something instead of just the final two. Get those younger guys some game experience when the snaps count.

They should have done that already. It's pointless winning games with Cooper Rush at QB for the remainder of the season.

They should have started Trey Lance after Dak was done.
- Then they either tank or find out that Lance can play.

Will CeeDee need surgery? If yes, then do it now.

This same question has come up before in prior seasons.

My answer remains the same - no.

Losing on purpose promotes a loser mentality. As long as things are going swimmingly taking works well. But as soon as adversity hits, tanking again becomes easier and easier.

Sorry, I don't play to lose, I expect my Cowboys to do the same.

soft tank has been in place, offseason signing of a green dot linebacker for Zim notwithstanding

If the Cowboys’ coaching staff is not fully aware, by now, of what Lance and Vaughn can do the team needs to get rid of every one of them and hire an entirely new coaching staff.

There can be quite a difference between playing in games and playing in practice. Some players are gamers; some look great in practice but can't handle the game pressure. We won't fully know what either player can or can't do until they get game snaps. Running backs often need to get into a rhythm to fully show what they can do. A quarterback without a lot of playing times needs many snaps as he can get to see if he can adjust to this level of play.

I would be with you on that ... and the same for any of our players who needs surgery, even if it's just a "cleanup." Get it done now and give them plenty of time to rehabilitate.

Then again, an NFL coaching staff should be able to ascertain what players give them the best chance to win Based on what they show in organized practice sessions. If you’re suggesting the Dallas Cowboys’ coaching staff can’t do that I’d say I find that very easy to believe. By now, however, even the McCarthy and his staff has to know Lance and Vaughn are not NFL caliber players. That’s why they don’t play.

Starting Lance would make them bad enough, you’re right, but Jerry and Mike isn’t starting Lance unless Cooper goes down. If Cooper doesn't go down, they are going to get a middling pick in the draft this year. Probably pick 12-15 or something. Even if they lose to Cincy they are sticking with Cooper. There is no benefit to starting Lance. He isn’t a possible QB of the future or a possible 2nd QB of the future (if he was this he would have started by now).
The only way Cowboys can retain him is by not starting him
