If the Dolphins call Jerry and say, "we will give you the #1 overall pick for your 2 #1's and Ireland", would you do it?

I wouldn't. If Parcells wants Ireland that bad, that means he's much more valuable than one draft pick.

Ireland isn't a trade commodity. So no, because it would be a dream not reality.

Yes.

They won't though.

This is the thing though.

Bill Parcells is involved with this. Hes a big picture guy.

Hes the same guy that just wants a bus driver Quarterback and doesn't believe in taking RB's in the first round.

So if its Parcells choice and your telling him youll give him a GM who he has much faith in and 2 of the best 32 players in the draft I could see him doing that deal.

The Dolphins want him and the only way to get him is through compensation if I understand this correctly.

I thought coaches weren't trade-able; I have no idea about front office personal.

No but Jerry can ask for compinsation from Miami for the right to hire or even interview Ireland. He does not have to let Ireland out of his contract.

NO, NO and NO

We are in position to draft BPA and go on a 5 year dynasty run. I'll be irate with JJ if he mortgages our future to get a good ol boy Arkie RB.

There is major talent Late in First at RB, WR and small school CB's into 2nd.

There is some major beef in this draft in the late 1st. If last year's draft was short-handed on first round talent, this years is loaded.

Absolutely incorrect.

Parcells can hire him if it's a promotion and owes Dallas nothing.

We may have some holes to fill after Free Agency too.

Jerry has a love for the Arkansas RB too though.

Its an interesting discussion. I think it all depends on how much Jerry wants D Mac.

From what I've heard from announcers (which is by no means authoritative) is that even if he wants to hire him as GM, Jerry doesn't have to let him go.

I can see how the league would make it that way for coaches but I cant see them just letting people in the front office leave their contracts for " a better title".

No it's not, according to Mort and Schef it does not work the same way as with the coaches and Jerry does not have to let him out of his contract.

The way I heard it was Jerry does not have to give the Dolphins permission to even speak to Ireland. Could be different with Ireland because he's a GM and not a coach?

Right, like I said, every report I have heard and read says Jerry does not have to let him out of his contract because it is different with the front office people then it is with coaches.

Spears, Ireland and our #1 for Miami's #1. We keep Cleveland's pick.

Yeah I know... :madden:

Dang, I agree with Nors.

One player is not worth screwing up a well stocked draft.
