If the suspension holds, Zeke was the wrong pick

Wow. You might have a hard time grasping this. All he has to do is not hit women.

I'm concerned that you see such a low bar problematic

It's more than that. He has to keep the NFL from thinking he hit a woman. He couldn't even play a single game without that happening. Of course I'm concerned.

Like most of us, I think the league's handling has been awful. I think the potential victim has plenty of warts and isn't the most credible source. But I'm not 100% certain Zeke didn't hit her. If he did, I think it's likely to happen again at some point.

Had he gotten a career ending injury while playing, would he have been a bad pick?

Just like an injury, nobody could have predicted how bad the NFL would try to screw Zeke.

Very fair. I chose my words poorly. It's not fair to use hindsight to say the pick was wrong at the time, especially after the rookie season he put together.

LOL, Zeke proved last year he was the right pick. An overzealous commish ignoring evidence and upholding an accusers white privilege claims does not nullify what Zeke did last year.

From the NFL domestic violence conduct policy:

"Violations involving assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault will result in a baseline six-game suspension without pay, with more if aggravating factors are present, such as the use of a weapon or a crime against a child. A second offense will result in banishment from the NFL."

Zeke just used his one free strike. A second and he's out of the league forever. We've already seen how much control the NFL has over this process, and that won't be changing anytime soon.

Zeke had character flags on draft night, and we've seen them come to fruition. His parents said they were worried about him handling fame. His college coach said he's worried about him. Joey Bosa had to change roommates because Zeke partied too much. There were rumors of drug use, which text conversations all but confirmed. The writing was on the wall. The risk was too great.

On the field, Zeke is special and absolutely worthy of the investment. But how can anyone here feel good knowing that the next time the league decides he assualted someone, he's out of the league for good? And that's all it takes: the league deciding it happened.

If Zeke's lawyers pull out a miracle, I'll gladly eat my words. But if Zeke is truly is on his last strike, he's wasn't worth the investment. He has a lot of growing up to do and no margin for error.

If Dallas wins the SB, Zeke was the right pick. Fun game!

Zeke is getting railroaded because of two things............

A. The league was made to look stupid, especially Goddell, during the Ray Rice fiasco
B. Zeke just happened to get involved with a psycho girlfriend who publicly decided to accuse him of domestic violence.

You put A and B together and this is what you end up with...............has nothing to do with him being a good or bad draft pick.

C. He plays for Dallas. See superonyx post 81 for instances of other team's players who have at least as much craziness around them but the league doesn't care. The star is really a bullseye.
