When Dak comes back and we lose both the Rams game and Eagles game, you know what has to happen next with Dak:

I like Dak. But I agree, because you have to beat teams like the Rams and Eagles to compete. But I think the Cowboys stay with Rush for now, because of how well the Eagles are playing. We're fighting for the division. And Rush at least gives you a chance, whereas Dak doesn't beat winning teams. He just can't manage the game like Rush. Rush is better at driving the bus and commanding the team. And I'm sticking by that. Based on Rush's 3 games. That, and the offense plays for him. In these two games this year, and the one last year, the entire team just plays better for Cooper Rush.

The play of Cooper Rush seems to have the Cowboys in a hurry to get Dak back as soon as possible to avoid any kind of media QB controversy, but this could back fire big time for them.

If they were smart they'd not bring Dak back for the Rams game as it seems to be reported that he's targeted for his comeback for that one.

The Cowboys could potentially be 3-0 with Rush as the QB going into that game and Dak coming back for that one seems like a recipe for disaster.

Dak probably won't be fully healed, going up against a pretty good defense, and the defending Super Bowl champs. Then you have the Eagles the next game when they look like world beaters right now.

Dak got trash threw at him after 3 quarters and an injury this year. Imagine what will happen if we lose to the Rams and Eagles and Dak plays bad.....

You'd think the Cowboys would perfer Rush play those games instead of Dak, but then again, what if Rush plays great and we win? Then the flames are fueled even more.

You think the fanbase is toxic now when it comes to Dak, just wait until he's rushed back and plays bad.

Odds are the Cowboys lose both of those games with either QB so the smart thing would be to let Cooper take those losses. Dak's return would be potentially uplifting for the team and more acceptable for the fanbase after that. If Cooper wins either of those games then he's your starting QB for the rest of the season.(well, he should be, but he won't of course)

Can you confirm please? I asked about cap hits to traded players in another thread the other day and didnt get a clear answer. I have briefly looked at what the internet told me was NFL rules on traded players and cap hits...what it told me was that a traded player does not count against the team trading him cap...all salary is absorbed by new team. Is this false? Or are people thinking waiving a player and trading him is the same cap hit? I always hear people saying that because of cap we cant get out of Prescotts deal? Is trading him not an option? I think everyone knows we cant waive him because of cap...but what about trading him? Either there are cap ramifications for trading or there isnt. And im not talking about a trade kicker and stuff like that. And I dont want to derail this by arguing about if another team would even take Dak(personally I think a team would take him right now at his contract).

To be honest, I read that on another post.
My own thoughts are that the guarenteed money is the issue or the signing bonus we gave him would accelerate into this year, or both.
There are some real good cap experts on this site and I am hoping they will weigh in with an opinion.
I am really curious about this as well.

Coaches get paid to coach, and that includes evaluation. Regardless of what we armchair coaches think of our brilliant opinions, we don’t know squat! Not one person on this forum, whether s/he claims to study the game tape and sees the whole field or not, not one has even a shred of credentialed expertise. Just opinions, which are not based on facts, and that’s a fact! Whether we admire Dak and support him or hate him as the Cowboys QB, none of us qualify as anything more than a fan with an opinion.

When Dak is cleared medically to play, I certainly hope that coaches won’t give a single second’s thought about what fans will think if a QB wins or loses. I would hope that the paid professionals will decide on a starting QB for every game based on health and which man gives the Cowboys the best chance to win a game, whether that happens as a team or not.

If they go with Dak, some fans will hate it and second guess it if the team loses. If they go with Rush, some fans will hate it and second guess it if the team loses. A few hardheaded fans who think they actually know something about evaluating QB talent as it aligns with team personnel will even hate it and question the decision if the Cowboys win. That’s when we see truly stupid stubborn egotists who think they qualify as more than a fan.

I’m a fan of Dak, and I think he gives us the best chance to win any football game when healthy. I think he is clearly far superior to every other QB on the team, and I rate him around 14-15 among all NFL QBs, a little higher when he’s playing well. But I realize that I’m just a fan with an opinion. If the Cowboys stick with Cooper Rush after Dak is healthy, I will assume they believe he has earned the chance and that they are not convinced that Dak gives them the best chance to win a game and want to see more, and I have no problem with that because they are the coaches.

However, whether they go with Dak or Cooper after Dak is cleared medically and has shown he can grip and throw the ball as before the injury, I don’t believe either man should be removed just because the team loses to a better team like the Eagles. If they believe one man gives them the best chance to win, even if it’s Rush, don’t pull the plug after one loss to a team like TB or Philly.

That should be the difference between a fan’s opinion and a coach’s decision.

The Cowboys want to get Dak back as soon as possible because they’re not generating a whole lot of offense and points. We’re surviving with the running game and great defense. If we can’t run the ball and the D has a rough outing we’re going be in serious trouble with Rush. With him at QB we can’t afford to get down by two scores. We can’t put him in a position where he has to play come from behind all day. We’re not scoring many TDs with him. I certainly wouldn’t bring back Dak for the Philly game it’s going be a hornets nest in Philadelphia. We need to stay with Cooper Rush until we lose a game with him that way there’s no controversy. If we bench him while he’s winning and Dak returns and doesn’t play well resulting in a loss the fans will be livid! I coached some of the best softball teams in the state for a long time. I had plenty of parents trying to get in my ear. I didnt give one damn about what any of them thought, because I was damn good at coaching the game.

You think McCarthy worries about what fans think? If he gives fans opinions even 1 second of thought, he is not the person that should be in charge of an NFL team.
