I LUV LUV LUV how this place has again turned on this team, predicting doom and gloom same witj the media etc

why?

Lets see,

before a game was played this season this place stated we at best would be 7-10 because we had a terrible offseason, one of the worst in history,

then,
game 1 we lose ugly to the Bucs and Dak goes down....

Que the doom and gloomers to pounce again...

this place said no way we could even win 4 games with Rush as a backup, no #1 wr, everyone sux and its OVER and stated the rumor Jerry was organically tanking by not restocking talent.

even some said the draft had 73 as a project and others taken were suspect and overrated. reach ios the word we heard A LOT!!!

Odd not one of those things held true.....

Now we have Fans doing it again, saying we can not win a playoff game, its over saying we are supposed to have an endless amount of depth to cover up so many injuries at the same positions?

sure count us out, its worked great so far .

10-4 maybe a 12 win season B2B playoff berths , yes please

everyone talk like its over.
Shouldn’t we wait until we see how they do in the playoffs before declaring this a successful season?

Three games left. And the Cowboys are swooning in the same manner they did as last year. There’s plenty of blame to go around. Players, coaching staff, culture, etc. The usual suspects around here.

But if this team craters in the same manner as last year, I place a majority of the blame on the completely unaccountable front office who looks at the off season as a vacation on the yacht and looking at Will McClay’s scouting binders to select players for the draft.

While the GMs of teams winning playoff games are focused on winning now, Stephen Jones is focused on next years cap.

Our drafts have improved, but the use of Free agency to get better has not. The teams getting better in the off-season are led by young aggressive GMs whose jobs are on the line.

Hate to say it…but our chief divisional rival had a great off season. Their GM is the young and aggressive Howie Roseman. He had a fundamental understanding of what his team needed to get better. Look at his off-season moves compared to ours:
  • Roseman hired the young and aggressive Nick Sirianni as HC in 2021.
  • Roseman acquired WR AJ Brown in a trade, recognizing Jalen Hurts needed help to develop into a better passer. (Our FO cut Amari Cooper and replaced him with 3rd rd pick Jalen Tolbert, cheap FA James Washington- combined have 2 catches- both by Tolbert)
  • Roseman saw THIS SEASON as their year to make bold moves. (Stephen Jones is always worried about next year’s cap)
  • Roseman acquired LB Haason Reddick, an underrated player who has upgraded the eagles defense.(We signed DE Dante Fowler for a lot less- he has had almost zero impact)
  • In season, Roseman acquired Ndomincan Suh to upgrade their run defense (We acquired DT Jonathan Hankins for a 7th round pick. Not exactly bold.)
This could go on and on. The players, coaches and culture share some blame in Big D for underperforming. But it’s way more than that. The front offices of the better teams this year spent the off season saying, “We want to win now- what bold moves can we make?” Our front office says, “We want to win now BUT- we don’t want to hurt our cap for next year.”
There was no off season except on Jerry's Yacht and NFL Combine Tour bus.

Facts are sobering. The Arlington Jonesboys are built to be relevant and not contenders for Super Bowls. Your GM cannot be your owner and quasi-Head Coach. Leadership of a football team is and always will be at Head Coach and then QB. Everybody else feeds off of that.

Roseman also signed Linval Joseph DT.

if they fizzle it will be for the same reason that it always has been that the players are soft and the coaches are just not very good in crunch time this team was build pretty good from the front office now its on the coaches and the players to win its their they just have to step up and take it if they are not to soft to do so

It's not that fans want this to happen. Some are extreme, they will always be there, but most are just being realistic. I mean, do you think the odds are still 40% for the Cowboys to win the NFC. It's the same reality.

I wouldn't say the Cowboys can't win a playoff game or more. I'm saying that the probability for that to happen has decreased due to events over the past two weeks.

It's a matter of probability. No one can predict the future but it is possible to construct a probable course of events based on variables like record, past performances, where certain trends are pointing. For the past two weeks. the Cowboys are trending in the opposite direction. I'm not expressing an opinion, I'm stating a statistical fact, the most important being that the Cowboys are 1-1 over these past two weeks and could easily have been 0-2......against teams with losing records

At some point the Cowboys must declare a starting point followed by a sharp trend up. it would be nice if this Eagles game is where it all starts.

Just saw that our WRs as a unit are 32nd in separation which is why Dak is #1 in tight window throws. The whole world knew WR was going to be a problem and the data shows it’s a huge problem so how did our GM not know it was going to be a problem? Houston we have a problem.

Absolutely. The team intentionally downgraded in the offseason. The fact that we trotted out Dennis Houston in week one and did literally nothing to improve the run defense, the thing that sent us home early just months before, is so indicative of their plan this year: there wasn't one.

Lo and behold, the same bizarre reluctance to address things in the offseason has set us up to fail once again.

The sad part is that we know this offseason will be no different. We will lose one of our best players, struggle to or completely avoid filling gaps in free agency, and put all our hopes and prayers into a later round draft pick. The cycle continues.

And when your two big FO people have deals for life- regardless of results- there’s no urgency to win NOW. Anyone saying Jerry and Stephen want to win I just respond by saying, “Not bad enough to make the necessary changes.” They never learn from their mistakes because they don’t have to.

Jerry is sounding and acting more like Al Davis every day. His son thinks he is a Football genius A legend in his own mind.
This deal with OBJ is a prime example. All that talk and the dude isnt even ready for this season Jerry and co. should have told him to come see me when you can work out. Then after OBJ statement about just playing in the playoffs?REALLY What does Jerry do, keep talking about OBJ WHY? You just signed TY your down CB LB OL and all you can talk about is a shiny toy.
You're right it is won in FA and the Draft. We fail miserably in FA

The Jones family will never sell so the Cowboys will probably be in this cycle of mediocrity until Stephen is gone. At least another twenty years or so.

See Philly for how to work an off-season to make a substandard team into a strong contender…in contrast Jones boys sit on arse, saving pennies and nickels!

We like our guys. Plus gas prices are high and that boat doesn’t run on air.

That’s the reality of the situation.

Its very successful RS as all expectations this was going to be a terrible season, all offseason and after dak went down most precited doom and gloom, historically bad offseason was the tone, now the goal posts have been moved? being 10-4 with horrible offseason, weak roster, no depth, bad coaches, seems successful to me...;)

BTW the RS is separate for the playoffs, NOTE all records and stats for the RS end after week 18, game 17.. why because they are not related. Once you make it , throw out records and go play the new season.

Excellent points!!!

When they shipped Cooper off for a bag of peanuts for "punishment" for not getting the vaccine, that told me all I needed to know about how bad they wanted to win this year.

If we still had Coop, the three WRs on that last play in Jacksonville are Lamb, Gallop, and Coop instead of Lamb, Gallup, and Noah Brown.

I am fairly confident Cooper has way better hands than Noah Brown does, so yes, this stuff does matter and they very well ended up losing the division because they got rid of Cooper for off the field transgressions.

This organization IS severely flawed and isn't going anywhere. JJ hasn't signed a GAME CHANGING FA since the early 90's. Things are only going to get better when MASTER JJ is dead and gone or better yet maybe JJ's closet is filled with the same garbage that Dan Sydner has in his closet and the Jones' will be forced to sell the club!
