One wonders if the Death Star can be folded up and put in a U-haul? Along with the new training facility.

If not, then moving is impossible.

I've never been to Dallas. As far as I can tell the Cowboys live on FOX, so for me it would be a bigger issue if they decided to move the team to ESPN or something.

not really, sun nite games on NBC, Sunday games switch from FOX to CBS, about 50/50.
Some odd games like nfl network will air on Ch 27 or 21 which are local uhf channels.

with the Rams, Chargers, and Raiders all on the move, What if the Cowboys were one of the teams that moved out west, would you still remain a true fan? I know this might not ever happen. But...what say you?

No. I would not follow the Coachella Cowboys. Sorry. :p:confused:

Jerry could still operate the DS ! and make money, and if another team moved here he would then lease
the Staduim to that team, or sell it to them.

What if Dallas moved and dropped the Whole name, and then another team moved here,
and became either the new dallas cowboys, in which case, we get rid of the jones for new owners !!
and if they keep the Same dallas uniforms and helmets that is great !

But they could then not take the cowboy name and use some other corny name like houston did,
and could also come up with new uniforms looking nothing like the current ones.

No more Star, no more cowboys, americas team would just disappear .

yeah that is 2 moves, local so they kept the same name.
But if dallas moved to Oakland, they would have to be the oakland cowboys !!
lets try some others
St Louis Cowboys
NY Cowboys
Wow so then they might even drop the whole name like houston oilers turned into the Tenn Titans !
So then no more cowboys at all !

Houston Oiler fans really got screwed !
Then when the city gets another team , they name them the "Texans" ?????? Then come up with
the ugliest uniforms ever !!

I was a oilers fan, and they had some nice uniforms and helmets, but the texans....... wow among the ugliest
uni's and helmets in the league,
They should have been the oilers again with same uniforms.

This is the part I don't understand, didn't Jed Clampett strike it rich with oil in Tennessee while shooting for some gruel? That is, before moving to Beverly. Hills that is. Swimming pools. Movie stars. They could have kept the name and been the Tennessee Oilers.

This is one of the things I find really hard to understand with American Sports.

With Football/Soccer in Europe the team feels part of the community, and historically you supported the local team (this happens less now with the Premier League). I was born in the county of Wiltshire & so support the only Football League team from that County, it didn't feel like a choice more an accident of birth. My son is the same & even though we now live away from home, so to say, we still both follow our team.

So strangely, even though I have no connection to the Dallas area it would just feel just wrong if the Cowboys moved out of state.

See. Even foreign soccer fans can't see it happening.

Not even a possibility. The NFL without the Cowboys in Dallas would be it's demise.

Sure, and the Cowboys play half of their games on the road. So my statement stands.

Of course I'd remain a fan. It's about the team not the location.

i left dallas (reluctantly) but remain a cowboys fan wherever i go. i don't feel the same way about following them to another place. they are a tie to that place and a symbol of it.

IMHO, when a francise leaves its original market, it should change its name. the browns didn't move to baltimore, the ravens did. the oilers became the titans. the cardinals and rams should have had to change their names when they moved.

In defense of the Rams they were in LA first. If they were going to change their name, it would have happened in St Louis.

I probably would stop being a fan.

Dallas native all my life-- basically just inherited this team rather than selected it.

it would be a hard tie to break, but I think naturally over the course of a few years I'd just stop caring.

They would be highly welcomed here in Cali..
But they are Texas forever!

I live in Upstate NY so obviously I have no geographical ties to the team.

If they were to ever move, I don't think it would affect my fandom unless they were completely overhauled, much like the Browns when the moved to Baltimore. It just wouldn't feel like the same team.

Of course, the chances of this happening are about as likely as the Yankees moving out of NY.

The Cowboys, Steelers, Packers, Giants, Bears, Patriots, Eagles, and Broncos are the teams that are pretty much never moving under any circumstances.

It would no longer be the "team". And yes, it's also about location. If the Cowboys became the Arizona Cowboys and won the SB, would the Dallas Cowboys be credited with 6? NO. I would hate the Jones family for the rest of my life if they ever did that to us.....

We purists wouldn't like a dramatic move that made them the Oklahoma Cowboys or the Montana Cowboys, but the Cowboys are America's team, and most fans, like me, don't even live in Texas. Certain teams are bigger than the first name.
