Say that Wade takes us deep post season and Jerry picks up his 1 year option; do you think Garrett stays? Thoughts please.

Why wouldnt he stay, he is "on deck" for the HC job after 1 more year in that case.

Garrett is already making what Wade makes and his current contract is not up until 2011. Garrett has already turned down 2 HC offers to stay in Dallas so why would he not wait 1 more year???

I am sure Jerry has already guaranteed the HC job to Garrett once Wade is gone, be it this year or next.

Jerry may have guaranteed him a spot but if another team came calling, I don't know how much of a fight Jerry would put up.

The offensive shortcomings have been bigger anchors than the defensive ones. If given a re-do, I'm not sure Jerry would open the wallet to Redball like he did.

Jerry didnt sound to displeased with Garrett when Babe interviewed him before the Saints game. In fact, Jerry went out of his way to praise Garrett for the way he has hung in there against all the criticism, Jerry like that Garrett had "thick skin". Jerry then said that Garrett would be a future HC in the league, without a doubt. Doesnt sound like to me that Jerry has any plans of letting his golden boy walk out the door.

Also, Garrett's offense is ranked in the top 5 in almost every statistical category in the league.

exceot for scoring. till that is up there a lot of people are going to rip him. but yeah with all of his stats being in the top 5 it is hard to argue that the scoring isnt going to come soon. you have to learn and he is doing so.

If you mean that Garrett is in the general head coaching pay scale range you are right from what I have read, I believe the media speculated and reported $ 3 million per year. However, I haven't read anywhere that Garrett is making what Wade makes. I would suspect Wade makes a little more.

That stated, since coaching salaries don't impact the salary cap are they required to be reported. I guess you can search tax records, everyone seems to know what Tiger Woods makes.

I don't think you even have to consider the possibility in all honesty.

Jason Garrett will be the next Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I'd like to see Paul Chryst as his OC. I have a feeling Reggie Herring will be the DC. I know Garrett wants to play a full speed, constant pressure style of football on both sides of the ball. I would love to see Dennis Thurman get a job here. I guarantee you INT totals would rise. His teams always take away passes. They did when he was a player and they have while he is coaching.

I was talking with this same thing the other day with a friend of mine and he rips Garrett and doesn't like him at all, but he's a Giant fan. LOL! Had to throw that in there. Anyway like I told him. This is the first time Garrett has EVER called plays in his career. You can no all you want about offense and schemes, but until you get that actual experience sometimes you're going to mess up. Some of the scoring issue isn't his fault, but some is. He's had some questionable calls he's made but I think he's learned from those mistakes. Nobody is perfect but he's getting better and better.

Garrett's offense scored pretty well in 07 when they were on track to beat the franchise record. Even with Romo out 3 games they did pretty well last year too.
I think the low scoring this year is Romo finding his ideal playing niche.

Excellent post Hos and I agree. JG would work this team alot harder then WP does and they would be much more focused. JG has seen first hand how a championship team is run while playing under JJ. I bet there would be no more "victory mondays".. This team would be tougher and more workmen like...

Let's get to the playoffs and win those games before we worry about that.

ya know - this fanbase is one of the most screwed up in all of the NFL. we have a team fighting for not just a playoff spot but a chance for a division title and far too many people are out "coach shopping" or doing mock drafts before we even finish this current season.

Nothing wrong with speculation but you're right. It's premature to write Wade off. And I'm still on the fence with Garrett. We need to be scoring a few more points per game. And the scoring production is just not on a par with the yardage production. That just needs to turn around for us to be as successful as we'd like to be. And should be, IMO.

But Garrett is going to be the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys.

when you're 9-5 and busting tail to win the division, why are we tagging him a "loser" and running him out of town as fast as we mentally can?

it's not like we're the Commanders and suck and a new coach is a MUST every other year. i think many fans are just more ADD than me and they don't want football for the sake of watching football, but to "speculate" new coaches, players and so on.

if garrett has a top 5 offense, i think people "heard" the media bash him and they carry that mantra forward vs. looking at it for themselves.

it's far too easy to fall into the "coach cupcake/tecmo" talk because hey, we're an insult driven people. we tear down faster than we ever try to build up.

like you, i'm on the fence with garrett, but i don't believe he's "earned" 1/2 the critisizm he gets.

If the New Orleans game is any indication of what Garrett wants to do, and if Jerry will give him the ability to draft/sign players that he needs to construct that team, we might see an incredible run by the Cowboys in the next decade.

Hostile, I trust your insights and insider info. If this is true...I might have to send you an Edible Arrangement as thanks if the Cowboys win some championships with Garrett at the helm. :lmao:

IMO, when it comes to Garrett, you can't just look at what has happened, you have to look at what can/will happen.

Jerry has gotten burned letting young, hot assistants go to other teams and then watch as they turn teams around. I dont think he wants to let Garrett do the same.

The trend right now is the young assistant...well we have one of those, and the two have a great relationship. I think Garrett will be a better HC than OC also.
