Any reason as to why he's a guess? He doesnt seem to have many Cowboy/Garrett connections.
He was mentioned along with Cam Cameron and Dom Capers as possible members of Garrett's staff if were to get a HC gig.

I don't think you even have to consider the possibility in all honesty.

Jason Garrett will be the next Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I'd like to see Paul Chryst as his OC. I have a feeling Reggie Herring will be the DC. I know Garrett wants to play a full speed, constant pressure style of football on both sides of the ball. I would love to see Dennis Thurman get a job here. I guarantee you INT totals would rise. His teams always take away passes. They did when he was a player and they have while he is coaching.

Thurmonds Thieves.....what memories.

here my guesses an who I like to see

QB coach- please get rid of Wade Wilson

my QB coach Brian Ferentz (born March 28, 1983 in Iowa City, Iowa) is an American football coaching assistant for the New England Patriots
In 2009, Ferentz became an offensive coaching assistant

I really want Kenneth "Ken" Zampese (born July 19, 1967 in Santa Maria, California) is an American football coach. He began his coaching career in 1989 coaching for the University of San Diego. He is currently the Quarterbacks Coach for the Cincinnati Bengals

but that be a lateral move

and if Garrett does not want to give up full control of play calling

Offensive Assisant/Quality Control: John Harbaugh or Hue Jackson

Assistant HC/DC - Mike Nolan – 3-4 guy
Defensive Cordinator: Ron Aiken or Thomas "Pepper" Johnson – 3-4 guys
D line: Keith Butler- Byran Cox

I dont want Brian Ferentz anywhere near our quarterbacks.

The only reason he has a job in NE is because his dad Kirk is friends with Belichick. The dude was a Center in college.

And Mike Nolan is not leaving Denver, he just got there and is having nice success.

Just out of curiosity, but why do you want Ferentz as QB coach?

Guys, JG is not just here for the $.. he loves the cowboys just like the rest of us. The guy could of been a HC in some places last year.. he wants to be our coach. He's young, has done some nice things with our offense, what are we #1 in yards? He will wait if Wade stays and he will be our next HC.. like it or not. I personally think am fine with him being our HC of the future..

For those asking why Paul Chryst and what's the connection.

As stated in previous thread.........

Chryst was a coach on that San Antonio team Garrett was on.

The HC of that team was Mike Riley.

Chryst grew up as an offensive coach under Riley in SA, SD Chargers and Oregon State.

Mike Riley was OC and QB coach at USC under John Robinson.

When Riley was HC of the Chargers Norv was his OC and Chryst was the TE coach.

All part of the Coryell, Zampese, Turner, Martz coaching tree.

Herring turned down the DC job at Oklahoma State this past off season. I have long felt he had a promotion offer in the background as a reason.

The worst part about having Garrett as our HC is that we lose our DC. Wade has done a great job improving our defense. Also, I think he makes great adjustments from game to game, and during games.

I have no problem having Garrett as HC, but we would need to get a legitimate 3-4 coordinator. I am not sure Herring fits that role.

This isn't Herring's first time coaching a 3-4.

He coached LB's for the Texans when Dom was the HC.

He's a great fit in my mind because he can bring influences of both Capers and Wade to the D.

As QB coach according to this:

One final thought on Chryst. Remember that last year the Dallas Cowboys made a concerted effort to hire Chryst to coach the team's quarterbacks. Chryst eventually decided to stay at UW and the Cowboys hired Wade Wilson to coach the quarterbacks.

He actually interviewed for the spot.

Reggie Herring is probably my favorite coach on the team outside of Wade (and no I don't have an affinity for Santa Claus stand-ins). There's no way of knowing with certainty that he's an Xs and Os guy or how he'd work out as a coordinator, but I get the feeling he'd do a fine job. He's energetic and is always coaching players up in practices pointing out their responsibilities from the playbook, etc.

Obviously, the best option is to win a Super Bowl and have Wade and Garrett stay in their current positions, but if Wade leaves for whatever reason, I'd be very much be for Garrett as HC and Herring as DC. I wouldn't have a problem with Chryst as OC either.

I love Herring as a position coach, but he's never coordinated before. He has no experience in when to call what, how to manage his players, any of that.

Every failed coordinator who's come down the pike had some credentials just like Herring. It's weird to me that people assume that all you have to do is promote someone who's worked with someone and everything will be okay.

Herring has been a coordinator in college. Look, I don't want to lose Wade any more than you do, but if you do lose the guy, you have to get someone. And I'd rather it be Herring than most anyone else.

So does every successful coordinator to come down the pike.

I think Todd Grantham has a better shot at being the next DC than Herring.

Has 3-4 knowledge and is a former DC.

Then again, he did suck as a coordinator.
