if Washington beats us, and unless Dak does something incredible, I would go with Sanchez until Romo gets back.

Now before you rip me up, follow the logic. Dak has shown the tools to play in this league. He has also demonstrated he still has some learning to go through. I would hate to see him go 0-6 or 1-5, then get replaced and have Romo turn it around and finish the season 7-1.

That would do two things, both bad. First, fans and media would blame all the losses on Dak. Even worse, Dak would blame all the losses on Dak. We know that he is a rookie and experience is important, but once he gets a mind set of losing, it is extremely difficult to get rid of it. His confidence could be seriously impacted.

Sanchez has the experience, and could accept the losses without near as much damage. He understands his role, and it isn't like he hasn't gone through it before. His experience might win an extra game or so, as well.

Think of what happened to Carr in Houston. We could easily ruin Dak by throwing him to the wolves.

I would rather ride it out with Dak until Romo gets back. I do NOT want a repeat of last year. Last year we probably could have won some games with Weeden, but we panicked and jumped ship to Cassel. Dak is already as good as Weeden, but he's going to get better every week. IMO he gives us the best chance to win. Also, the players seem to believe in Dak, I don't think Sanchez's mom believes in Sanchez.

I could envision a nightmare scenario where you see him in Washington

It's week 2 not week 14 and out of the playoffs. If he struggles in Washington I could easily see them putting in Sanchez. I don't expect him to struggle though

When we lose 5 or 6 straight well just blame Sanchez.. he can handle it. Then we'll say dDak sucks when he ccan'twin cause he had to learn from sanchez. blame game works for me.

the nightmare scenario where you see him in Washington is Romo going down and the only backup to Dak is Showers.....

Okay, I will try. But it will be hard since you said "Sanchez start".

Dak has shown the tools to play in this league. He has also demonstrated he still has some learning to go through. I would hate to see him go 0-6 or 1-5, then get replaced and have Romo turn it around and finish the season 7-1.

So that is going to happen or have a chance to happen? If the team is 0-6 or 1-5 the problems are way deeper than Romo could ever solve.

I get it people really love Romo and how important he is.

But he can't win on his own.

Carolina on Thanksgiving pretty much should have shut down that meme.

Before he got hurt, he was getting worked over.

Think of what happened to Carr in Houston. We could easily ruin Dak by throwing him to the wolves.

So you are saying he would just be ruined by many more losses, so insert Sad Sack Sanchez to spare his ego?

If that is how Prescott would react, he's not an NFL QB.

You asked not to be ripped, but with some of the concepts you put in this post, you should be.

I get what you are saying and have thought about it myself. I want to believe that Sanchez can make those deep passes to help the running game.

However, Sanchez will not be here next season no matter how this one ends, he is insurance only. I would like to see Dak face some tough challenges until Romo returns, it should help his development. 7 or 8 games will tell a lot about his potential in the future rather than a few games.

Besides, Sanchez would probably not be much improvement in the conservative game-plan anyways. As the Fast and the Furious crew would say........ride or die(with Dak). I think he has the mental make-up to handle this....win lose or draw.

I think ya give DAK 2-3 more games regardless. He needs reps and the offense needs consistency.....I hear what you are saying....Hope the fans will lower expectations and be patient while DAK grows into the position. But if Romo is out more than expected I would re-look at the situation....No need to overwhelm DAK....give him time. For heaven-sake the Cowboys haven't WON anything in 20years...what is one more year....

Let him play, learn and get experience. We need to find out if Dak is the future. If he looks like he is the future, Garrett needs to be replaced, and get a real Coach with an offense that can be tailored to Dak, with a real QB coach. I don't see a reason to keep Dak in an offense only Romo can run. Let Romo and Dak fight it out in camp. Romo will be gone sooner rather than later, and Garrett has proved he can't win a game without Romo.

If there is any chance of ruining Dak, it is Garrett and his Romo only offense that will do it.

lol. Why would any fan go with Mark. In the worse case...Prescott is a failure...the club gets a high pick QB and goes forward and wins. The future is with a young stud QB backed by the best OL in football and supported by Elliott and Morris. Then the FO gets a new coaching staff with a stud QB and drafts some killer DE's and DT's and go rip the NFCE to pieces. Its the start to winning again..

Dallas 100% needs to let Dak play until Romo is back ! It is time to find out if we have our future replacement. I believe we do already but I know the some people need more time. Every divisional game will give him the necessary experience he needs and show him what these divisional games are all about. He is well ahead of where most thought he would be so why would we hinder his growth let him get the rookie mistakes out now if need be.

Coaches need to challenge him and let him play. IMO this will be key to his development
