If we are 14-1, do we start Romo against Eagles?

One, I don't think they'd do that to Tony. Two, if he ends up looking terrible, there goes any remaining trade value.

When you have been inactive for this long, veteran or not, you need live game reps. If they have nothing to play for, then get Tony some action after Dak has played a series or two...

If we are 14-1, there is no controversy and we should have 1st seed locked up.

There is upside for everyone to play Romo with 1st team for the 1st half:
1. For those who want to trade Romo, his value will go up if he plays well.
2. For Romo loyalist, we get to see if he still has the 2014 form and how he performs with Zeke and OL.
3. He knocks off some of the rust if he is needed in the playoffs.

Downside:
1. If he is injured again, then his trade value goes to near zero.
2. If he is injured, then we dont have a good backup. Though if he gets injured in the first half, he is no backup and we really lost very little. In fact, we gain an extra roster spot if he goes on IR.

YES!! He will take us to the Super Bowl!!

or not

I'd play Dak and Morris. Interesting question, though.

It's hard for me to believe that Romo would be embarrassed or otherwise offended by being told to play once HFA is locked up. Leaving aside that he's a total pro who understands how this game works, it's an opportunity to do what he loves to do and does better than all but a handful of people on the planet. You never know what such an opportunity could lead to. Just ask Dak.

No. One of the advantage backups sometimes have is that the defense hasn't prepped for them. Why give D coordinators more film of Romo's tendancies in 2016-2017. If your starter goes down why give the opposing D coordinator anything to prepare and study on Romo and how he runs this offense in this particular season with this personnel.

I would start him and play him for a series or two like it is a preseason game because I think he can use the reps to get back into the flow of playing.

the only way I would play romo is if tony romo asked to play.
I agree to an extent. But what if he stinks it up out there or gets injured again? By that point, he won't have played sustained football in almost two years and will be playing, likely, with a bunch of backups. At this point, preserving whatever trade value he may have should take priority there.

Interesting question.
It would be nice to give Dak a rest and, like you say, a chance for Romo to rid some of the rust.
Yet, realistically, how long would the aging, rusty and very fragile Romo last in a game?
If we are to make the most of Romo's short stay, get the most of his services in the playoffs, if needed.
And, further, Waldo lad, if we put Romo out there and we lose, what does it do for his fragile psyche?
His trade value? The team's trade value?

But, again, a very interesting question.

Out of pure selfishness I want Romo to play. I want to see what he does or doesn't have. I certainly don't see it happening though.

You go with Sanchez, you don't always have 3 QBs but when you do this is a luxury you can afford. Once they went with Dak even with Tony healthy, I'm pretty sure they don't want to play Tony again unless Dak is hurt. All it does is potentially open things up for some Johnson/Flutie second-guessing and we know that Jerry and Stephen are too mentally weak to risk being second-guessed.

It won't happen. One it's almost disrespect to a guy who believes he should be a starter, to be playing as a back up.

Second, if he comes out there and lights it up. Now there will be even more controversy leading into the playoffs. **** you don't need.

Well I thought this was something Romo haters and lovers can agree on.
there is clear upside for everyone and the one clear downside.
